I want to write a book called “your character dies in the woods” that details all the pitfalls and dangers of being out on the road & in the wild for people without outdoors/wilderness experience bc I cannot keep reading narratives brush over life threatening conditions like nothing is happening.

I just read a book by one of my favorite authors whose plots are essentially airtight, but the MC was walking on a country road on a cold winter night and she was knocked down and fell into a drainage ditch covered in ice, broke through and got covered in icy mud and water.

Then she had a “miserable” 3 more miles to walk to the inn.

Babes she would not MAKE it to that inn.

Cuter Than He Was [The Summer Hikaru Died fanfic]

Summary: Yoshiki didn't think he'd see much of those cat hair clips again. Until 'Hikaru' comes to school with one.

Cuter Than He Was

Yoshiki almost choked on his own spit when he looked over at ‘Hikaru’. It was a small detail, but it stared at him glaringly – literally. There, attached to the strap of his cross-body bag, right above the heart that so seldom beat, was the little cat-shaped hair clip he’d given Yoshiki a while ago, and which Yoshiki had snuck into his hair.

“Why’re ya wearing that?” Yoshiki asked. Around them, the room filled with their classmates, and Yoshiki could hear the girls giggling and the boys snickering.

“Cause I’ll be the cutest boy in school,” ‘Hikaru’ said, throwing up a peace sign with a grin.

The snickering grew louder, and some of the boys shoved at each other. One of them pushed to the front and smirked at ‘Hikaru’. “Nice accessory, Hikaru-chan,” he said, drawing each word out laughably.

Yoshiki felt his face start to burn.

From across the room, a projectile hit the boy who’d spoken – an eraser that bounced off his head and onto the floor – and Asako stormed at him, grabbing his shirt. The two descended into a scuffle that was swallowed up by the crowd. Yuuki and Maki dove in after them, trying to separate them before the teacher would show up.

“See, they’ll make fun o’ ya if ya wear stuff like that,” Yoshiki mumbled.

“I don’t care what they think,” ‘Hikaru’ said with a shrug. He leaned in, braced on Yoshiki’s desk. “So, d’ya like it?”

Yoshiki averted his eyes. “It’s for children.”

“Aw, c’mon. Ya should wear yours too so we can match.”

Eyes wide, Yoshiki gaped at ‘Hikaru’, making him laugh.

“Kidding, kidding. Heh...”

“Hikaru!”

The crowd had dissipated, and Asako came bounding up to Yoshiki’s desk, trailed by Yuuki and Maki.

“Sorry they’re bein’ idiots,” she said, patting down her dishevelled hair. She fumbled with it for a moment, and away came the delicate turquoise hair clip she wore every day. “Here, look. It’ll look pretty with the other one.”

“Huh?” Maki said as he watched Asako reach out and pin the clip to ‘Hikaru’s bag.

“Wow, tha—”

“Ya can have mine too,” Yuuki said, holding her clip out for Hikaru to take.

“Aw, but won’t ya miss them?”

“We’ve got tons,” Asako said. “They came in a big set. We split them, pink for her, blue for me.”

Smiling, ‘Hikaru’ took Yuuki’s clip and put it above the cat.

“Hey, no fair!” Maki said, and Asako turned to slap his buzzed head.

“I’ll glue something to ya so you can match!”

All protests and laughter were quelled when teacher Hara walked in. Everyone scrambled to their seats, and Yoshiki looked over at ‘Hikaru’, now proudly displaying three colourful clips on the bag hanging off his chair. He caught Yoshiki staring and gave him a grin and a thumbs-up.

Propaganda:

Jeongmin and Siyun: Both are lucid dreamers who meet in their dreams and come pre traumatized from both parental issues and severe bullying. Neither are in a good place for a relationship, but Jeongmin enters one with him anyways to give him a reason to keep living and to have someone to stay by his side. Siyun becomes possessive of her and violent towards those around her, but currently they seem to be working on things.
