Every Precious Batman and Catwoman Moment from Injustice: Gods Among Us

Injustice: Gods Among Us (2013-) is by far the best DC on-going happening right now. Not just because it’s a really incredible story and Tom Taylor is gifted at writing team books, but because it also happens to be how I’m getting my bat/cat fix these days. You can always tell when a writer a fan of the two and as far as Injustice is concerned Tom Taylor is a friend. I give you every precious Batman and Catwoman moment from Injustice Years 1-3.

Year One

Catwoman doesn’t make an appearance until issue #6, but boy was her debut a big one. Long story short after the Joker tricks Superman into killing Lois Lane and their unborn child, Superman vows to wipe the world of evil once and for all. Batman and Superman have strong ideological differences, what with Superman basically becoming a murdering global dictator. Damian accidentally kills Dick and Superman recruits Catwoman to console Batman.

Did you hear that? She’s spent a lot of nights at Bruce’s place.

Selina is only one issue in and is already holding Bruce together.

The other day I was in another social media group I also participate and we were talking about the many lawsuits involving Superman and the families of his creators, Siegel and Shuster, vs. DC comics, and how they influence the comics world.

As it turns out, one of the reasons Batso got so preeminent over Supes is DC owns the character in its entirety, when Superman is partially owned by the afore mentioned families, so, as you can imagine, when the Bat got revitalized after Dark Knight Returns, they went all in with him. Why they decided to give up on Superman because, if they made more money with him, they would have to share it, escapes my logic.

New 52 may have been just part of a legal battle decision: due to a lawsuit in which DC might’ve lost the rights over the Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen and Perry White characters, they decided to prepare separating the Lork couple and distancing Clark from the Daily Planet until the final  verdict, They also took the chance to flirt with the idea of Superman and Wonder Woman being a pairing, the only silver lining in all this, something long ago in the making, and to tinker with other characters also not doing so well commercially. Notice they didn’t touch Batso in the process, who kept on being the same, unlike all the others: if it works, don’t fix it. 

When the court decided in DC’s favor: they got to keep Lane, Olsen and White, among other things, the company did a full 180º and dumped the reboot altogether, killing the rogue Superman and wiping every trace of its existence from the face of the Earth. Since New 52 was only a “place holder” reboot, they had no remorse in screwing fans who may have got used to it, wasting their money and investing their time in the comic books for five freaking years (New 52 wasn’t that good, anyway, because they never invested much effort to make it a consistent universe. In short, the ideas were half baked and the writing sucked balls).

Hence, the Lork marriage was back in full force, now with a child, Lois and Clark went back to their jobs at the Planet and everything is good and dandy again. Even the red granny panties returned.

The writing in rebirth still sucks balls, but that’s another problem. That’s incompetence and lack of talent.

And the sales keep dropping.

All this things are problems one always suspects existed, I may have mentioned them once or twice, but being confronted with the cold, hard facts is a total bitch: it takes away all the magic of comics, strips any trace of fantasy by reducing them to court room litigation, commercial disputes, assets and commodities.

There isn’t good vs. evil, clearly defined as in the comics, in real life: there’s only shitty people against more shitty people. 

We, readers, are the hostages.
