Trapped Chilean miners to be rescued Prior Plan - While Families Sue the bankrupt San Esteban Mining Company
The miners' families to keep their guard outside the San Jose mine in the Atacama desert. As they wait for their husbands, sons and fathers to be free they have, necessarily, been busy. It has been the salvation planned to study. Households and families to support. Media to handle. And legal action against the San Esteban San Esteban mining group.Given appalling security, with sixteen miners die in the ground in recent years and no account is taken of the required safety improvements, the families have an extremely strong against the mine owners. Brunilda Gonzalez, mayor of the nearby Caldera, estimated that each trapped miners would win around a million dollars in compensation for their ordeal underground in the collapsed San Jose min. The Court of Copiapo, the city closest to the mine, will hear the surround Chilean government has already frozen the assets of San Esteban group, estimated at $ 9,700,000 dollars. The company has filed for bankruptcy in a move, probably to avoid paying compensation. As the court case proceeds, so does the rescue package. The good news for the trapped miners are blocking unforeseen complications, is the US-made T-130 drilling is used to reach them is expected to break through with some mid October. The to lead the rescue work, Andre Sougarret, warned that there could still geological and technical problems, but he was optimistic about saving the miners in early November. "We have had problems and we have had to pause the machine for more than four days at a time," he explained. "We do not quite know the geology." Provided that the bailout has a happy ending and all 33 miners freed before Christmas, could well turn their trials to be double or treble edges. Huge amounts of compensation will be life changing as the psychological burden to have to get caught. There are also reports that although the miners' wives have of course been present during the vigils of the mine, has a number of alleged mistresses appeared to specify the emotional and / or financial interest in the drama. The media interest in men, their wives, families, and probably some proven mistresses also increase during a time when they finally show up, picked up in the light of the incident commander capsule. One way or another, once the miners are released they will have to come to terms with the fact that on the August morning when they fell down in the mine before the collapse, their lives change dramatically and for ever.Source: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/ south america / chile / 8031870/Chile-miners-could-be-rescued-one-month-earlier-than-expected-after-surge-in-drilling.html

Peru Travel, Part 1, Cuzco and Machu Picchu
Several years ago, I won a silent auction for two business class tickets to Lima, Peru for a couple of hundred dollars. I was very excited because I had always wanted to see Machu Picchu and visit the Amazon jungle, and both are short distances from Lima to local airlines.I ran home to Nancy to know the good news. At first she was a bit 'confused, "why did you buy your tickets to Lima?" After explaining to her that these tickets were really just a nice way to get to Peru and we would really only be used as Lima base hit to the Amazon and Machu Picchu she was back on board. That is until they actually arrived in Lima and had to take our first domestic flight to Cuzco. Our "plane" landed and stopped near the airport. After the arrest, a ladder with wheels was pushed against the wall and a ramp was lowered from behind. Departing passengers were transported from the rear of the plane while passengers boarding (Nancy and I among them) were climbing the ladder to board the plane. There was no apparent security and control even the supply of fuel, as is customary with the flights in the United States. This flight was a stop and go. A practice very disturbing especially for a semi-nervous flyer like myself.Once on board the plane, the first thing we noticed were some interesting smells. E 'immediately clear where those smells orginated as we have seen chickens and a goat on the plane. I did not think I would have been on board a plane with the cattle. I immediately knew that this would be interesting ... if we survive ... Upon arrival at our seats, Nancy and I have placed our hand luggage and began to settle in for our flight over the Andes to Cuzco direct. When I sat in my place, he felt as if the seat rocked back and then made a loud noise as it fell into place. After investigation I discovered that my child seat was not actually bolted to the floor! Oh, sure, the stallion was there where it should be, there were simply not nuts to the chair to the studs. I suppose this makes it easier when swapping seats on board one of the goats has an "accident" in flight. My next surprise came when I got to my seat belt ... one end was actually attached to the seat! I believe this was not so bad since the seat was not attached to anything. After all, why would I want the false sense of security to be firmly secured a seat that would just fly out of the plane in case of a goat nervous opening the door in mid flight? When I said these things to the pre-flight hostess, he said, smiling and walking over. Well, I wanted the adventure ... here go.On positive side, the flight from Lima to Cuzco was extremely turbulent as we skimmed the tops of the Andes all the way home. I have no idea why the driver felt the need to fly so low. My assumption was just that he wanted to smoke and to be courteous to other passengers, it felt better to break a window, making it impossible to fly at a higher rate. I mean what else could explain the tremendous sound of the wind seemed to come from the cockpit? Eventually, the pilot found a small crack in the mountains where he could crash landing our plane and bring a merciful end of this flight. It turns out that the crack was the airport of Cuzco, and the crash was actually a normal landing ... I never guessed. Our travel agent we met at the airport and just minutes after a ride back to town we arrived at our hotel. We stayed at the Hotel Los Andes de America, a Best Western of all things. The hotel was in an ideal location, just steps from the main square and the hotel had a large central courtyard to sit and enjoy a meal or a cup of coffee before or after a day of adventures around the arrival city . Upon our hotel, we were handed a cup of coca tea, made with coca leaves, to enjoy during check-in. Cuzco is at an altitude between 11,000 and 12,000 feet, depending on where you are and whose statistics you read. The locals swear that coca tea is excellent to prevent altitude sickness. I do not know if there is any validity to that statement, but I can say that neither Nancy or I had no problem with altitude sickness and we made tea.Nancy drink and I chose to walk around Cuzco and found it to be a safe and enjoyable. We were in our early thirties, when we took the trip and in reasonable health, but also that, walking around that altitude you can still get out of breath very quickly. If you think it could be a problem, take a taxi, they are quite numerous and quite reasonable priced. The city is full of old world charm and street vendors are numerous. Bargains can be had on alpaca sweaters, hats, gloves, art and jewelry. U.S. dollars are accepted everywhere as the native Sol.Cuzco is the traditional starting point of the Sun Inca Trail, a 4 days hiking through the Andes to the Inca city of Machu Picchu. Nancy and I were not adventurous enough to groped the tour so we opted for the train journey. At that time we were there, the train journey took about 2.5 hours and was excellent! It seems that since then they have added a shorter path that requires only 90 minutes to reach Aguas Calientes, but if I had to do it again, I would still take more and more windy. Winds train is the way through the Sacred Valley, passing through small villages along the road. On the train troubadours and vendors are dressed in traditional Peruvian dress. Time passes quickly, and before you know you're in Aguas Calientes, a small village at the foot of Machu Picchu. This part of the trip was that I do not care. As soon as you exit the train was bombarded by people selling tourist trinkets. The route by train to the bus that takes you up the switchbacks to Machu Picchu is lined with tourist trap junk suppliers. Keep your wallet.Once on board the bus, the journey to the summit of Machu Picchu is quite fast. As the bus travels along the narrow switchbacks carved into the sides of the mountain cut, think about the fact that when this city was in its first, almost all the necessities of life had to be carried by hand on this mountain. There was no water source at the top of the mountain. The water was captured or by rain or carried by hand. Po 'food was grown on terraces cut into the side of the mountain, but most of it was, again, carried by hand from the valley is below. There a hotel near Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge if you want to stay there is necessary to make reservations well in advance of your trip. If you do stay there you will be offered the rare opportunity to stay at Machu Picchu after all the other tourists are carried away with the last shuttle. You will also have the opportunity to see the sunrise over the ancient Inca city before any other tourists arrive. It 'amazing to wander through the city with so few others around. BreathtakingFor those who really feel very adventurous, there is a track that leads to Huyana Picchu, a much smaller portion of the city was built even higher than an adjacent peak. The trail is very steep and treacherous and should not be attempted by experienced hikers, but nothing. The view from the top of the track are unmatched, if you choose to make the trip to Machu Picchu trip. Our was once in a lifetime adventure that I will remember forever. The second half of our trip to Peru was an adventure long week in the remote Amazon jungle, but that is a story for another time ...

What do you bring back to this page, the option, your thoughts and experience to the community and for the reader's help everywhere.

Gifts ideal for travelers, vagabonds, adventurers and
Is this vagabond special in your life will be home for Christmas this year? Forget "the man who has everything" gift for the person who has been everywhere a unique challenge. Here are five thoughtful and affordable gift options to keep in mind when shopping for vagrants and adventurers.1. Safari Jacket got one of these for Christmas last year, and it quickly became one of my most treasured possessions. Safari jackets are comfortable, easy to layer with other garments, and, though probably not acceptable for the hardcore fashionistas surprisingly intelligent-looking statements. The real advantage, of course, deep pockets. My jacket 18-compartment can easily be used as extra hand luggage. I can comfortably my camera, cell phone, mp3 player, wallet, cereal bars, beef jerky, medicine, motion sickness, batteries, passport, tickets, reservation confirmations, pen, notebook , and more. If you want really stupid, you can even squeeze in a water bottle and a paperback-size with no problem. Personally, I wear a Rothco "Outback Trailblazer," which I recommend to any traveler. This particular jacket even zip away sleeves, so your friend can travel into a life tough guy, if he is in boxing Amazon piranhas or something. 2. CoverMy passport passport was rained-on, almost melted, bent and folded over once. Personally, I'm sick of immigration officers frown and ask, "Why does your passport like that?!" You will find an assortment of colors and styles on eBay by searching for "passport cover" , or "holder of a passport." You can get a perfectly adequate for $ 5 - $ 10 an amateur will cost $ 20 +. 3. MP3 Any traveler who has not one of those still needs to jump on the bandwagon as soon as possible. MP3 players are infinitely more comfortable, concealable, and consistent than portable CD players. If you're willing to spend money, you could get a top of Apple's iPod line, but most manufacturers have a range of options on a budget who are perfectly adequate-RCA "Lyra" ; series worth checking. (In my opinion, most other MP3 players are actually much easier to work with the iPod, which requires the use of Apple's iTunes system awkward.) Prevalence of USB technology, it is even possible to exchange MP3 files with other travelers computer cafes around the world! And for those of you in the mistaken assumption that to get mp3s legally requires a kind of paid subscription service, you'll be pleased to know that building a collection of mp3s requires nothing more than access to a computer with a CD-ROM, there are many online tutorials that will teach you how to rip your CD collection to mp3 format. 4. Audio Language The language learning system I can recommend is the Pimsleur approach. I learned a Pimsleur "starter pack" that I did from two years of high school Spanish. The Pimsleur approach is used by the CIA and the FBI, and enjoys an impressive money-back guarantee: You begin to speak the language within 10 days or your money back. The Pimsleur approach is available in over thirty languages on CD (for stitching on this new MP3 player) or on tape. "Fast and Simple Starter Packs' containing eight lessons (it's 4 hours total), are the reasonable sum of 19.95. Complete units (30 lessons each) are significantly more expensive at $ 274. 5. A magazine subscription There are many travel publications quality there. My favorite is the budget travel ... but that's just because I'm cheap. If your tastes Gifteer more class than me, Travel + Leisure is another excellent choice. There is an obvious problem to give a magazine subscription to a traveler as a gift: according to the habits of your loved adventure, he or she may not have a permanent address long enough to enjoy the set if any of subscription. And these five ideas seem quite right, consider this option: air tickets round trip for two. Most travelers love nothing more than sharing their trips with the people they care about.

Recent years have seen Chile from becoming a hot destination with Patagonia broke into the hotspot with the opening of the first hotels Explora luxury and adventure all property included in Torrres Del Paine National Park in early 1990. The turn of the century has come and the new hotspot for Chile has been the Wine Route in Chile where the wine enhanced areas have opened up their vineyards to customers and attractive new housing along the way were opened.Today, the Northern Atacama Desert, a four-season destination, is ripe and dry for the adventures of luxury. 700 miles long, the Atacama Desert used to be right off the beaten path, but now we can find a wealth of hotels and lodges style that gave life to this very remote region. To reach the gateway a magical desert landscape is dotted with salt lakes, geysers, archaeological sites, volcanoes and villages timeless oasis is only a 2 - hour flight from Santiago. The Atacama Desert is the driest desert in the world and is bordered by the Pacific Ocean and the majestic Andes. There are occasional rain falls that produce flowers, but there are large areas where nothing grows.
