Random Sechskies Stories #1

~Just for fun; some of these have been passed down for almost 20 years and might not necessarily be true~

1. Eun Ji Won really liked Ko Ji Yong’s Benz (there were only few of the same model available in Korea at that time) so he asked his parents to buy him the same car. He was scolded by his father and got a BMW instead. So Ji Won often got on Ji Yong’s car and went for a drive together. 

2.Eun Ji Won’s dad chased after him with a broomstick when he dyed his hair blonde; still to this day, he refuses to dye his hair because his dad doesn’t like it.

3. A fan talked to Ko Ji Yong about Jyeonhoon and Jyeonjyong fanfics, and Ji Yong’s response was: “Why do I have to fight with Sung Hoon-ie over Eun Ji Won?”

4. Dealing with the fans waiting outside of the house:

Lee Jae Jin: Calls the police

Kang Sung Hoon: BMW racing show in the middle of the night; You think I’m going to go in???/ 

Ko Ji Yong: Climbed over the wall; If caught, said “Don’t tell others you saw me!”, and jumped

Eun Ji Won: Mom asked the fans “Do you guys know where Ji Won is..?” …

5. During <Com’back> promotion, at the height of Jekki’s popularity, a rented bus from outside of Seoul got to the concert venue late and missed the performance. The fans that were in the bus sat on the cement floor of the parking lot and started crying. The news got to the manager, and eventually to the members. The members told the manager to turn the car, and they really returned to the parking lot and consoled the fans. Thank you for coming so far, you guys are the best, why are you crying, we’re here now~

Jiwon & Jiyong: Happy New Year!

Jaeduck: It was during our fan-sign event. Jiwon-hyung put down his autograph, and you know how we write P.S. at the end? For example, happy new year, or be healthy, or that sort.”

Jiyong: That story’s not funny.

Jaeduck: I was in the middle of telling a story. Why are you like this.

DJ: Don’t worry about it. Ko jiyong-ssi, why are you doing this when you can’t even tell a funny story yourself? Jaeduck is really trying hard here.

Jiwon: That guy…

Jiyong: It would be better not to tell.

DJ: Oh, be quiet.

Jaeduck: Anyways, so Jiwon-hyung was trying to write a P.S., but I guess he got stuck. Jiyong was standing next to him, so he looked at Jiyong, and asked “Yah, How do you write ‘bok’ (복 in Korean, 福  in Chinese: fortune/good luck)?” Obviously, Jiwon-hyung was talking about the Chinese character 福. But Jiyong goes:

“Huh? b! o! k! (ㅂ! ㅗ! ㄱ!)”

Jiwon: So I was like, did you really think I wouldn’t know how to write that in Korean? Then Ko jiyong said he thought I got confused on which bok it was- 복 or 볶. 

Jiyong: I thought Jiwon-hyung forgot how to write bok in Korean since he did study abroad. I didn’t want him to write 볶 instead of 복 on P.S.- that would be embarrassing. That’s why I told him that.

Because hyung and I have a love and hate relationship, I feel like we can’t be apart. 

Hyung has always been cool so…. No, I still want you to be even cooler. 

Oh, and hyung! Let’s make a promise. During our 4th album promotion*, don’t make fun of my long neck, please? I won’t talk about your hair loss either. Hahaha~ Jokes aside,

i recently found sechskies ❤️ are there things i should know? idk a lot about the members and if there was anything you could tell me (inside jokes / ships / etc) that would be nice~ you are one of the only sechskies blogs i could find~

hi!!! okay so since i myself have been a yellkie for literally like 10 days (even though i’ve known about jekki for years lmao) so this whole thing might not be completely accurate but i’ll try to fact check everything kjsdhkas @taehour​ pls correct me if something is wrong, or add things if i missed them, you’re pretty much the only sechskies stan i talked to kjshadka (where is everybody???)

okay so, imma try and make this like a short but possibly not so short guide to Sechskies :D

Sechskies means, or at least should mean, 6 crystals in German, but kies apparently means gravel. There are 6 members but 1 is inactive (Ko Jiyong, we’ll get to that), and they are divided into two units, Blackies and Whitekies, for no particular reason other than concept™ lol

They debuted on April 15th 1997 under Daesung Entertainment, today’s DSP Media. They held a press conference on May 18th 2000, announcing their disbandment, at their prime. Here’s a post that explains what exactly happened.

Sechskies were reunited through the variety program “Infinite Challenge” in 2016. (Episodes 476, 477 and 478.) They have signed with YG Entertainment.

was the 1st member to go solo after disbandment and released the song called “A-Ha”, focusing mainly on hip-hop music from then on (he received some backlash from fans for changing genres)

in 2011, he formed a group called “Clover” with Mr.Tyfoon and Gilme

was married, but got divorced (catch comedians making fun of him for that *cough*knowingbros*cough*)

is known for appearing in many variety shows, such as 2 Days 1 Night, New Journey to the West, Kang’s Kitchen

literally hasn’t aged:

Sunghoon and Jiwon were originally supposed to debut as a duo, but due to the popularity of H.O.T, DSP decided to debut a 6-member group, but Sunghoon refused

DSP CEO persuaded him to stay by giving him right of veto; the other 4 members of Sechskies were chosen by Sunghoon

was the 2nd member to go solo after disbandment, releasing an album called 비상 (Bee Sang) with title song 고백 (Confessions)

okay so this part even I’m slightly confused about but, he was in some legal troubles for a few years for fraud, and he also spent a few months in prison; it turned out those were false charges, but I can’t really find a good source or good translation of the whole ordeal, but yeah..this happened

he is married to Heo Yang Lim, a professor of family medicine and a doctor (they were introduced to each other by a friend and she didn’t know he was Sechskies’ Ko Jiyong until she met him)

on October 6th 2014, their first son Ko Seung-jae was born
