One of my favorite pages to draw from this chapter! I had this Malyck visual in my mind from this page, very early on when I first started drafting The Harbinger's Path. Very excited I was finally able to attempt depicting it in chapter 2!

I realized I haven't mentioned this, and I hope it's clear - but just in case, panels I post here are small crops from the full pages. I personally find reading comic pages on social platforms sort of clunky, which is one of many reasons I wanted to make a dedicated site for The Harbinger's Path. I tried to make the website the best reading experience for this comic. :D

Anyhow, next page on Wednesday! I've been really excited to show this one. It has one of my earliest mental visuals I've wanted to draw since the inception of this project.

The start of the many thorns I've been drowning in drawing over the past month. Why have I still not tired of drawing them?! I could have worked on this page for several more hours' worth of thorns if I didn't force myself to stop.

Chapter 2 for The Harbinger's Path begins updating today!

Chapter 2 will have an update schedule of 2 pages/week from now until the chapter is finished. I'm thinking either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday (this week will be Mon/Wed).

After we reach the end of Chapter 2, I'll have a better sense for when Chapter 3's pages will be ready to post. I hope you'll enjoy them!

The Harbinger's Path Chapter 2 will start updating next Monday, June 23rd!

As I've mentioned elsewhere, I'll be trying out single-page updates this time around. I'm thinking 2 pages per week.

I know I said this for chapter 1, but I'm really excited to finish chapter 2 so I can continue working on the scenes in chapter 3, haha.

Small wip crop from my other gw2 comic with my sylvari oc's (I haven't posted this one anywhere yet) - was showing this crop while chatting, and thought, this seems to fit the side-blog.

The character is my Nightmare Court Knight, "Caydren."

He's the same character in the previous post, though bring that up to him at your own peril.

Chapter 2 in-progress preview for The Harbinger's Path comic! Progress is going well, bulk of Chapter 2's block-outs are finished now (this step feels like the majority of the work to me).

Mostly color + refinements next. Eta on new pages is later this month!

Quick note that this PDF was finished last weekend/earlier this week!

The "pages-only" version is available as a free download on kofi, while the version with bonus art (ch1 process + ch2 layout previews) is available by signing up for email updates at Landylachs.com/updates

I'll make a proper post on the main tumblr at some point later on, but wanted to have an update somewhere here since I mentioned it on this page a bit ago. :)

Putting together some bonus content for chapter 1. :D

In addition to posting the chapter itself online (on *coughcough* Landylachs.com/harbinger *cough*), I thought it'd be really fun if I could put together a digital PDF of it. This will be a web-resolution, free-to-download PDF of the first chapter, with some extras at the end.

In the current draft layout, this includes process images for Chapter 1 (such as lineart/wip's before color is added), and layout previews for Chapter 2.

Which, by the way, I am so, so, sooooo excited to finally be able to dive deep into chapter 2 soon. Not to get ahead of myself, but I think Chapter 2 is stronger than Chapter 1 - or will be, when it's finished, haha!

Anyway, I need to scurry off and finish some things to have everything ready by Monday - have a fantastic Friday and weekend until then! :D

This is from what I think of as the "prologue" for the chapter. I added it so there would be more context for page 4 (the original start of the comic), as I sometimes underestimate how Malyck isn't as present in people's minds as he is to me and his fans, haha.

I think there are more people who would still be intrigued by his storyline if they were reminded, though! Which is what inspired me to draw this prologue for one of my favorite texts in the game - Amaranda the Lonesome's "The Nightmare Harbinger," first added to the game all the way back during Living Story Season 2.

I love how the text leaves open which way Malyck could have gone - a valiant sylvari, battling against Mordremoth? Or, a nightmare-turned sylvari, bending others to his will?

Such tantalizing possibilities!

A fun fact about this page is, this was the original starting page for chapter 1. Much later, I added the 2 prologue pages (now pages 1 & 2). Then, very late in the process (about a week before Monday's launch), I decided the chapter might benefit from an establishing shot. That became page 3.

Thanks to all who have read already! Seeing your feedback & thoughts has been so helpful to learn how the first chapter is reading to you. I really can't express enough how much it means to me that you've checked it out!

What's it about? I wrote a little description for you. :)

Pact Marshal Trahearne spent 43 days captured by the Elder Dragon Mordremoth. What happened to the Firstborn during this time? Trahearne & Malyck fan comic set during the Heart of Thorns era of Guild Wars 2. Rated PG-13

Chapter 1 is titled "The Firstborn's Stand." It's an idea near and dear to my heart, involving characters I know are also near and dear to many of you. :) I hope I will do them justice in my small way, and that you enjoy my fan interpretation of them.

Flipping between Malyck with and without glow on the sketchblog post is amusing me, maybe I'll post both versions when it's finished.

Finalizing chapter 1 for The Harbinger's Path made me reminisce about my earlier paintings of these two. But when I saw this one again yesterday, all I could see were the errors! Did a quick paintover for fun (and practice!) - I'll link below where you can compare it with the original, because I'm honestly a little embarrassed to show the original here now, haha.

I should probably also mention here, that the first chapter for The Harbinger's Path Trahearne & Malyck fan comic will launch this upcoming Monday, May 12!

Yay! Excitement! I hope you will check it out and enjoy it! Or tell me how to make it better! Either way! :D I suspect all the random art I've made of these characters over the years was hemming and hawing for this story I really wanted to explore with them (or at least, attempt to explore).
