HOLA ⿻ AESTHETICS
An audiovisual content must always be based on a series of laws that ensure its aesthetic harmony.
These laws are created based on a style or based on how good or bad you are with a tool (e.g. 2D, 3D, animation for typographic compositions, illustration, Virtual Reality, Story Telling, etc.).
Aesthetic harmony gives us the public's complete confidence aesthetic harmony gives us the public's trust.
Poor aesthetics can cause the content to deliver the wrong message.
The key to aesthetics is the way in which certain elements are linked together under a group of laws that governs them in a consistent manner. If something breaks any of these laws, credibility disappears.
Coherence is not achieved in a project if it is not consistent with the laws (understand-apply-respect) that we create from the creation of each project.
7 LAWS to achieved aesthetic consistency
Be clear about the concept you are working on.
Identify the challenges to be able to unify everything in an aesthetic that represents the service/product.
For the unification and definition of aesthetics it was defined: 1. The typography to be used. 2. The form of communication of the "operating system" (in this case he used pop-up windows). 3. The design elements (in this case they had to belong to existing operating systems that referred to something in particular). 4. The color palette and gradients to add complexity. 5. Effects (glitch and compression as an aesthetic resource). 6. Tools to generate visuals (e.g. ascii code). 7. Sound design.
I’ll follow this formula for my reel.
                                   👁〰👁
The simpler and more essential a universe is created, the more stimulating and attractive it will look. Simplicity does not refer to visual complexity and detail, but rather only to the number of aesthetic laws we accept.
Tumblr media
Robbery and originality
The theft of an idea occurs when the aesthetic laws of one work are copied by another work. We must know about aesthetics, be able to analyze the worlds that we create and that others create, the laws that govern (when to apply them, when not to apply them), understand what works and what does not work in our products, in order to be original. It is also necessary to forget the preconceptions of seeing certain things as attractive/repulsive/cringe/correct/incorrect/mainstream/etc, we have to concentrate on the concept of consistencies and coherence, to know how to experiment with it, right?
And let's remember that everything is already created, but we can keep reinventing and obviously EVERYONE should credit to their sources of inspiration. I’m not special, you’re not special.

About me ( ⷪ ྊ ⷪ )
Tumblr media
Thinking about the future always gives me anxiety, closing and starting cycles always feels like a roller coaster.  Besides, people say that you shouldn't tell your goals.
(。Ó﹏Ò。)                                           __                                       _  |  |                   Yye                |_| |--|                .---.  e           AA | | |  |               /.--./\  e        A              // || \/\  e      A             //|/|| |\/\   aa a    |\o/ o/--            ///|\|| | \/\ .       ~o \.'\.o'           //|\|/|| | |\/\ .      /.` \o'          //\|/|\|| | | \/\ ( (  . \o'  __ __ _//|/|\|/|| | | |\/`--' ' __/__/__//|\|/|\|| | | | `--' |\|/|\|/|\|/|\|/|| | | | |
BUT this is a homework.
I do have a clear path. In 2022 I visualize myself founding my own small independent studio (probably with a super creative friend). I want to shoot many videoclips, videoart and some short films -most of them probably personal projects-. Two of my passions are to be behind the camera (more than editing, it's kinda 60/40) and to write stories. I’m always recording, I’m always taking photos, I’m always writing.
I want this studio to have its own essence. I want to be experimenting and keep growing as a creative and as a person. I also want to learn videomapping!!
 \ | / '  _  ' -  |_|  - ' | | ' _,_|___ |   _ []| |  (O)  | |_______|
My ultimate dream is to became an Art Director. This will probably happen after many years of building a good creative path.
People I would like to work with
-  Son Letal: Indie group producer of techno, EBM, industrial, dark disco events. They have big plans.
Tumblr media
-  Compañía Nacional de Danza Costa Rica: I have always wanted to collaborate in their creative projects. A graphic designer and audiovisual producer is needed, just look at their IG.
- My friend Pei: he’s a great producer and post producer, creative mind behind Señorita Abril and Leones Dorados.
Tumblr media
-Laincogo: Glitch artist friend
Tumblr media
Neto Villalobos: I have always liked his work as a director. This video influenced my adolescence so much:
youtube
Some works that I would teach them
I think I would work on a good audiovisual portfolio first, not exactly with the projects I have worked on at CETAV. (っ- ‸ - ς)
Here is a jigsaw puzzle of images I could be putting together to teach, from CETAV and "everyday life".
Why did I choose them?
Because they show that I know how to use After Effects, that I know how to use a camera and they also show a bit of my essence.

Strong adaptability? He seems to adapt his style to the client he works with.
I feel his work is bold, he is not afraid to use a lot A LOT of colors.
But I'm not sure if I see a very distinct or defined style.(;⌣̀_⌣́) *still thinking*
Tumblr media
I like the movement in his work, even the non-animated ones.
You can check his IG here.
From a commercial point of view, I like his work, but I don't see myself reflected there. くく
Tumblr media
He also adapts to his customers.
He has a more defined style as a director. Characteristic framing and colorization.
Tumblr media
The settings are impeccable for each of his works. The light, the selection of spaces, actors, etc.
It makes me think that he has great team behind his production studio.
You can check their IG here.
Totally "cinematographic" style.

Both Rick and Kevin apply the "NOTHING IS ORIGINAL", their styles are things I have seen before (ര░‿░ര░), this does not reduce the artistic value of their works.
“CLIMB TO YOUR OWN FAMILY TREE”, I think Kevin has already started to grow his own branch.
“BE YOUR OWN SCHOOL”, I perceive that Rick is a person who does not stop experimenting as an artist, someone who is not afraid to immerse his work through different styles and learn from each one of them.
                  ꜰɪᴠᴇ ᴅɪꜰꜰᴇʀᴇɴᴄᴇꜱ ʙᴇᴛᴡᴇᴇɴ ᴛʜᴇɪʀ ʀᴇᴇʟꜱ?
One is focused on animation and motion graphics, while the other is pure video direction and production.
One has a more personal (but commercial) and less homogeneous style, while the other is more corporate and more homogeneous.
The variety and types of clients they have worked with is distinguished in both reels.
The pacing, even though Kevin's reel lasts only 35 seconds longer than Rick's, I get the feeling that it lasts longer because of the type of shots. Rick's reel has more "violent" movements.
I can only think of one similarity (I can't think of any more differences), they both accumulate a sample of many years of work (some look better than others).
                            ΉӨЩ DID ƬΉIƧ ΉΣᄂP MΣ?
Tumblr media
I really want to give my reel a personal brand and I want it to look as non-commercial as possible, since I'm not interested in working for corporations. I think the pacing they show is something I can take from them.I also really like how impeccable LANDIA is as a brand.

Do you consider yourself an original thinker?
“Not by any means. more like a tasteful thief. the only art I’ll ever study is stuff that I can steal from. I do think that my plagiarism is effective. Mick Jagger, for example, is scared to walk into the same room as me even thinking any new idea. he knows I’ll snatch it”

Importance of audiovisual production in creative events  ☁
☁
         ☁
Artistic evolution record
We simply cannot know how much art was created in perishable materials and has therefore been lost to the archaeological record.
                                                                    ☁
Development of collective knowledge
Collaboration, cocreation, and collective knowledge are essential for future practice in designing, developing, and deploying “smart” initiatives y movimientos/tendencias.

Broaden the audience. More engage.
It is a fact that most artists care about attracting new people and building an audience. Audiovisual products can help to engage more people to their work.
                                                                               ☁
                                                                 ☁ ☁
Facilitate a greater and faster understanding and interpretation of these types of efforts/events.
It's all about good communication.
Audiovisual products usually manages to expose issues with much more objectivity, in a completely clear and accessible way for everyone.

I can't stop relating the story to Silent Hill 2. OReilly's work is more cartoonish and the way it's told and sequenced is different (and many more details change obviously). Both works share deep psychological themes such as: relationship frustration, the weight of guilt. In both cases their partners are ill, they feel guilt when their partners die and attempt suicide due to the emotional connection they had with them, even though there was dissatisfaction and frustrations between. PLEASE SAY SOMETHING is truly a good slice of reality short full of fantasy elements.

Thinking David OReilly's imagination  1
Imagination is a serious matter, a collective power which can really change things and perceptions. Hitchcock once said "There is something more important than logic: imagination".
WOFL 2106
The following frames were selected based on the visual elements that compose them and my own reading of them: the contrasts -which are maintained throughout the short-, the red color of the blood and the sky in the background, a sunset (the fresh death), what the curved shapes can mean, the birth of more life from death.
【Visual】
An animal encounters the death of a similar one
Tumblr media
The process of mourning
Tumblr media
Death brings life too
Tumblr media
Rebirth
Tumblr media
Continuation of a different life.
Tumblr media
【Tactile】
Death and change are inevitable parts of our life.
Tumblr media
New life
Tumblr media
New start
Tumblr media
Crying to avoid exploding and continue until our “end”.
Tumblr media
【Conclusions】
Nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed.
Facing death and grief is part of growing.
We can always continue.

Fantasía de Munari
Tumblr media
1. Fantasy, invention and creativity think, imagination sees.
2. We can speak of design as the projection of an object, a symbol, an environment, a new didactic or a new design method, as an attempt to solve collective needs.
3. Imagination makes visible what fantasy, invention and creativity think.
4. While fantasy, invention and creativity produce something that did not exist before, imagination can also visualize something that already exists but is not among us at the moment.
5. The more the individual is able to establish relationships, the greater and more vivid the fantasy will be.
6. Fantasy is free to think of absolutely invented things, but it does not care to verify whether what it thinks is new or not.
7. Two types of novelty exist: novelty for the individual and absolute novelty.
Novelty is the state or quality of being new, exciting, unusual or unique.
8. Making connections between visual or functional affinities is an exercise for fantasy.
9. Popular culture is a continuous manifestation of fantasy, creativity and invention.
10.Tradition is the sum of the values of the collectivity, and the collectivity must continually renew itself if it is not to perish.
Social collectives are assemblages of actors that affect and are affected by others or by a specific object or situation, and eventually share a common situation-specific understanding of the self as part of a collective.

some advice is NEVER unwelcome ₕₑᵣₑ
1. Don’t overthink, create, it does not matter if you fail. Overcome your fear of sucking, it’s a decision.
Do, do, do.
NEVER wait for inspiration, you can start creating right now. Inspiration comes from sitting down and getting to work, the more you try, the more inspiration comes.
2. Surround yourself with creatives, fill your social media’s feeds with creative sources.
3. Don’t avoid conflict, don't avoid being a critical person, but never appropriate social struggles that don't belong to you.
If you avoid conflict to keep the peace you start a war inside yourself. - Cheryl Richardson
4. FEEDBACK SHOULD BE PART OF THE PROCESS and not something that happen at the end.
5. Be obsessive (in a healthy way), you can have many passions but commit to ONE, because you’re gonna need more that passion to achieve a GOAL. Why? Passions can't be sustain, one moment you have a passion and the next moment you are passionate about something else. All your favorite artists and creatives were obsessive. FOCUS on your journey!
