🥪 Set a plate/tray/bowl of food down for my muse 〈Fort Max〉
Red Alert tensed at the sound of something being placed next to him, quickly whipping himself around with a blaster ready to shoot before realizing who it was and what happened. He had been so engrossed in watching his screens, taking notes and logging thoughts on his personal datapad about every little nook and cranny that FELT a bit different from the last time he thoroughly looked that somehow, he hadn’t even heard Fort Max come in.
Fort Max has put down a cube of energon and Red Alert only then remembered he was overdue on refueling. It wasn’t unlike Max to come and do something like this; he had an awareness for his friend’s patterns and habits down to a T even if he tended to ignore his own. It was very much appreciated but still unexpected for Red. Not many mechs gave him the amount of time or care Max did and Max was more than already busy enough in his opinion.
“Thank you.” He would avoid eye contact by staring at the energon.

She sighed when she was woken, but at least he hadn’t left her behind with the strange human who’d arrived. Yawning widely, Latias stumbled to her feet and followed her red human out of the building.
It took a bit of work to keep from falling over or stumbling over rocks in the dark with eyes half closed but somehow Latias managed it. She really hoped it was close so she could go back to sleep.
“Heh. Here.” Red smiled, summoning Inferno from his pokeball. “Up we go.” He lifts Latias on to Inferno’s back, who began trotting along with a curious look at Red. She did feel kinda funny to the touch...kinda furry.
Red, blissfully, decided to not question it. As carefully as he could, he shuffled into his house on arrival, taking Latias and putting her in his bed. He could take the sofa for the time being...

He got a shrug in response as Latias finished off the chip and sucked salt from her fingers. Since she didn’t have any other plans or places to go, she didn’t mind going along with him–especially if he kept feeding her good food.
She had no idea what a shift was, but it sounded important and like it’d take awhile. Stretching where she sat, Latias settled in for a good nap to pass the time.
The red human would probably wake her when it was time to go. One eye opened to peer at him. Yes, he’d definitely wake her.
Of course he would!
The rest of his shift was a normal one, with an occasional sweep of the museum floors until the next guard came in. He told them not to worry about the child asleep on the floor.
Latias seemed fairly content sleeping, but they did have to get going. She could sleep more at his place. “Hey..c’mon wake up. We’re going.”

She clapped excitedly once he finally got it. And she had a name for him now too, excellent. Red human, even if he didn’t look very red to her. She was red, he was red, they matched.
Content with this new knowledge, Latias slid off the chair and returned to the abandoned chip bag to watch him. Now what, red human? They had all the time in the world and she didn’t have anywhere else to be. What did he want to do now?
Red watched her go back to her bag of chips, before turning back to the monitors. A cursory glance didn’t show signs of anything being wrong, thankfully.
Turning back to Latias, he wasn’t sure what to do now. He didn’t really plan to be looking over a child today. Or at all, actually.
Doom finally woke up, but ever sleepy, only trotted over to drape herself on Red’s shoulders. Oh..right.
“Since you have no place to stay, you can come with me to my house after my shift ends here.” They’d...figure out something more permanent for her later. Ultimately, after a lot of deliberation, he didn’t feel comfortable leaving this girl on her own.

Yes!
Sort of. Close enough, at any rate. Searching her memory of the music human and this process, she clicked on the result that matched her memory, then began scrolling through all of the images until, finally she found the one she was looking for.
She clicked it, then pointed.
That was her! That was her name. She looked up at him expectantly, waiting. Did he get it now?
Red blinked. “Latias?” What did Latias have anything to do with this?
He looked between her and the screen, before it finally clicked.
“Your name is Latias?” A weird thing to name a kid after a Pokemon. But at least he had a name he could use for her, right? Instead of just saying ‘you’ or ‘her’ all the time.
“My name is Red.”

She made a vague noise at him in reprimand for laughing. She wasn’t doing anything funny! Humans were weird. She shifted in the cair for a moment, thinking as she considered his question.
She wanted to look up the pokemon thingies, so she could answer his original question. Names! She wanted names. A finger tapped on the search bar after a moment, once she was sure that was the thing she remembered music human doing.
Another tap, as she peered at him. Then she pointed to Doom in the corner, and tapped once more on the bar. Yes?
Red turned to look at Doom before looking back at her and the computer. What was she trying to get him to do... Hm.
He leaned over, typing in ‘Sylveon’ before hitting search. Was...this what she wanted? That’s what made the most sense to him. He had kinda forgotten what they were trying to do in the midst of showing her how a computer worked.

Doom would probably have been a better option of translator at this point. She moved the mouse around, before she finally got it to land on the button she wanted. And then waited. Nothing was happening, that wasn’t right.
She had the thingy, why wasn’t it opening to ask her questions? A soft huff preceded her tapping at the screen to no effect. Nope. Nothing.
Frustrated, she jabbed at the mouse, beaming when it clicked, and the window she wanted opened. Great!
Now to… to… search. How did one search? She frowned down at the keys; music human had taptaptapped at them a lot to make things happen. She remembered that much. Slowly, carefully she began to press the buttons.
ytfcvghlkjgyufvjgvhyjbokljhyhrfvlj;
Hm. That didn’t seem right.
Red couldn’t help the laughter that escaped his lips, turning away as his shoulders shook as he laughed. Okay. She was really trying wasn’t she? But with the greatest determination she really did manage...not a lot.
“What are you trying to do?” She didn’t really talk, but so far he had a good streak of reading her body language and guessing what she wanted. Maybe they’d manage this way?

He was under a very false assumption, which became clear once she’d spent a good five minutes trying to figure out how to drag the pointer around the screen without touching the mouse.
This was definitely not working as she’d planned. Why wasn’t it moving so she could click the button that opened the thingy to tell her about pokemon? She scowled, before looking up at Red blankly. He knew how to work it, right?
Fix it, please.
Okay so he was totally wrong. He blinked at her slowly for a moment, before reaching an arm out to move the mouse around, consequently moving the cursor around the screen. “Like this.”
After a moment or two, he moved his hand off the mouse, waiting for her next move.
Doom stirred quietly in her corner. She was certainly a heavy sleeper.
