all was quiet on the chasquean border when lyanis' procession first approached. a small motley crew of courtiers and guards that positioned themselves around the perimeter of the prince's own carriage. it was a modestly sized group, but lyanis' father would not accept his departure from the kingdom with any less.

a tour of courtship, his king father had called it. the intention being lyanis would visit the various noble houses and kingdoms in chasque's direct proximity in hopes of identifying a potential betrothed.

of course, that would also count on lyanis' own participating in the acts of potential courtship and not keeping his nose tucked in tome or scroll, as he was wont to do at home. he had done his due diligence, of course, entertained both noble and prince, but found them all lacking in any real spark of intrigue. he'd scarcely voiced te thought allowed, but the prince was not too keen on entering into a marriage with anyone less than someone who could maintain his attention, and he there's. it wasn't a tall ask, by lyanis' standards, but it seemed few and far between to find someone actually capable of delivering what his mind desired.

carnal desire alone did not a marriage make. lyanis reminded himself of that notion time and again whenever he caught his fortitude wavering. it was far easier to partake in matters of the flesh than it was to maintain diplomacy.

when the carriage finally came rolling to a stop, lyanis was surprised to see a figure standing on the castle steps, postured carefully but clearly waiting for the procession to halt its motions.

the door finally opened and lyanis stepped out the carriage with an ached ease, his eyebrow raising as he regarded the other carefully.

"i hadn't expected anyone to be awaiting my arrival." he spoke coolly, making his way toward them. "to what do i owe the pleasure?"

born from a chance encounter between a human noble, and a sidhe woman, bellamy entered the world and the kingdom fell in love at once. though, sure, there was a delicate capacity for the citizens of ritrinc to love their new princess, bellamy was special in his own sort of way, a near undetectable allure that pervaded him even during infancy. he didn’t know it at the time, of course, but eventually, it was this allure that would come to be a boon, a weapon used both for self-preservation and for furthering his own goals and efforts within the kingdom and without. a princess, after all, was only good for one thing -and that was diplomacy. bellamy’s earliest years were rife with education and etiquette, a near never-ending flurry of history lessons and skirmishes in how to properly host, receive and maintain conversation with foreign dignitaries. from a young age, bellamy was groomed to rule. and though, at the time, he had been under the impression he would one day father in his father’s footsteps, the birth of his brother waylaid that to an almost infinitesimal degree. the first-born prince became the object of his father’s devotions and time. and with good reason. but the slight was not unnoticed, and a youthful bellamy, eyes ablaze, decided in that moment that he would become the most terrifying creature in the room, if need be. as he grew older, he learned how to harness his beguiling ways. and, in time, had come to learn of the various races that made up the world and where he might fit among them. a notion that he would never share with his father, a proud mad, who would no doubt prefer his infidelities be kept under wraps. while his brother was taught the careful arts of war and rule, bellamy’s focus became far more social. he as the people’s princess, after all, and that came with a plethora of advantages. by the time he was done, a charming smile or gaze would have them laying down their lives, if he asked it, and thus he was well on his way to establishing his own sort of power. adulthood was simple enough without the watchful gaze of his father, and as he matured, he came to understand his own roles within the kingdom of ritrinc, both in family responsibility and his aspirations of grandeur. he may not have learned how to rule from his father, but he had a fair many nobles to take him under their wing, gearing him up for his own form of war, and the spoils that would come with it. bellamy would be a queen, and there was power in that alone, but a queen who knew how to utilize that power was a powerful creature. and bellamy intended to do just that.
