Another update
Hey everyone,  sorry for going off the radar again! Since we're getting more questions about the availability of the Zine these days, here's a little update: we are currently hard at work at getting the Zine available to everyone for purchase! Which means we're talking with some great people who want to help out with this and provide a place to buy the Zine from.  We're sorry this is taking so long, but we're all very busy with other things as well, and Sega Zine is something we are doing in our free time when we have it. So please bear with us! It's almost here!

Status update
Hey everyone!
Since we got a question about it in our mailbox, here's a quick update on the zine:  We're almost done putting together the final PDF for print. The layout is done and overall we're finished, but we had to wait for some updated versions of artwork.  Apologies for this taking so long. We're all working on this in our free time, and it's been busy times for pretty much the whole team. Thanks for your patience, everyone! We're almost done :)

Submissions have been selected!
Hey everyone,
just a small update regarding the submissions for the actual Zine.
We've mailed everyone who has been selected to be in the Zine.
Sorry to everyone who didn't make it in. We had to make some very tough calls, since we got so much awesome stuff from you guys! The Zine is going to be a whopping 60 pages already, and that is with us cutting a bunch of our personal favourites.
We will start posting every single entry we got to our tumblr soon, so even if you didn't make it into the Zine, we're still going to put you in the spotlight!
Happy holidays to everyone, and see you in 2013!

Update
Hey everyone,
Sorry for the radio silence! We're all very busy, but rest assured, we've seen all your fantastic entries! We can't thank you guys enough for the amazing response to this. It's definitely going to be something beautiful once it's all put together.
For now, please bear with us a little longer while we put it together and figure out printing costs. As soon as we have that done, the Zine will be available for preorder.
Again, thanks so much for all your submissions! We'll have more news on this thing soon!

Deadline extended!
Hey everyone, first off: thanks to everyone who have already submitted a piece! It's been wonderful seeing all these fantastic entries appearing in our inbox! However, we'd like to see some more. So if you've been short on time and thus didn't make or finish a piece: now's your chance! We've decided to extend the deadline for entries to November 30th. All the same rules for entries still apply. Good luck with your submissions. We can't wait to see them!

Everything you need to know about buying the physical zine and more.
Hey everyone,
first off: thank you all for the wonderfully warm reception to SEGAZINE. We're really excited about this!
Now, a couple of you have already asked about how we will handle the sales of the physical zine, and where the money will go. To cover all this, here are some answers.
What are you plans for selling the zine?
We will take pre-orders on the site after we get all the submissions and finish up picking out the ones that will be featured in the physical zine. The reason for this is that the page count depends on the number of amazing entries we get. We will determine the cost of printing based on the page count.
Once we have that, we will put up a pre-order page where you will be able to pre-order the zine at print+shipping costs. Based on the pre-orders we can determine the size of our first run.
 Where will the money go?
Because we are selling at the cost of print and shipping, no profit will be made. SEGAZINE is a project we want to do because we love zines and art, not because we want to make a profit.
Any money that remains after we send out the first run will go towards printing a second run of SEGAZINE.
Will artists get a copy?
Yes! Every artist featured in the physical zine will get a personal copy. As soon as we've gathered all the entries for the physical zine, we'll get in contact with the artists so we can send them a copy.
I hope this clears up some concerns people may have had! If you have any more questions, let us know at [email protected]

Need some help deciding what subject to cover for SEGAZINE? No problem! Here are a few helpful lists and guidelines!
First of all, your contribution MUST focus solely on a Sega product! You can do something about one or more of their many consoles:
SG-1000
MARK III
SC-3000
MASTER SYSTEM
GENESIS/MEGA DRIVE
SEGA CD/MEGA CD
32X
SATURN
DREAMCAST
GAME GEAR
Or even a peripheral:
SEGA CHANNEL
DREAMCAST VMU
Any games you feature should be definitively Sega! This means that either it was developed by or was mostly exclusive to a Sega console/arcade hardware (things that have had Virtual Console/XBLA re-releases are fine). Here are some examples:
AFTER BURNER
ALBERT ODYSSEY
ALEX KIDD
ALIEN STORM
ALIEN SOLDIER
ALIEN SYNDROME
ALTERED BEAST
ASTAL
BAKU BAKU ANIMAL
BEYOND OASIS
BILLY HATCHER
BLAZING HEROES
BONANZA BROS.
BUG!
BURNING RANGERS
CHAKAN
CHU CHU ROCKET
CLOCKWORK KNIGHT
COLUMNS
COMIX ZONE
CRAZY TAXI
CRUSADER OF CENTY
DAYTONA USA
DECAP ATTACK
DRAGON FORCE
DYNAMITE COP
DYNAMITE DUX
DYNAMITE HEADDY
ECCO THE DOLPHIN
ENDURO RACER
ETERNAL CHAMPIONS
FANTASY ZONE
FEEL THE MAGIC
FIGHTING VIPERS
FLICKY
GOLDEN AXE
GUARDIAN HEROES
GUNSTAR HEROES
HANG ON
HOUSE OF THE DEAD
JET SET RADIO
KID CHAMELEON
LEGEND OF OASIS
LUNAR
MAGIC KNIGHT RAYEARTH
M.U.S.H.A.
NIGHTS
THE OOZE
OUTRUN
PANZER DRAGOON
PENGUIN LAND
PHANTASY STAR
PHANTASY STAR ONLINE
POWER STONE
PULSEMAN
QUARTET
RADIANT SILVERGUN
RISTAR
SAKURA WARS
SAMBA DE AMIGO
SEAMAN
SEGA RALLY
SHENMUE
SHINING FORCE
SHINOBI
SKIES OF ARCADIA
SNATCHER
SONIC
SPACE CHANNEL 5
SPACE HARRIER
STREETS OF RAGE
SUPER MONKEY BALL
SWORD OF VERMILLION
TEMPO
THUNDER BLADE
TOE JAM AND EARL
VALKYRIA CHRONICLES
VECTORMAN
VIRTUA COP
VIRTUA FIGHTER
VIRTUA RACING
VIRTUAL ON
WONDER BOY/MONSTER WORLD
YAKUZA
ZAXXON
ZILLION
Please do not limit yourself to the items listed! If you have something in mind that makes you think "SEGA", use it!
Lastly, keep in mind that we're looking for unique submissions! You can focus on one thing OR you can cram as many games and consoles as you'd like in there! Also, don't be scared to use one of the more obscure subjects if it fits, especially if it's something you're passionate about! Heck, we'd love to see a comic about the Sega Pico or a piece of Astal fanart if you've got it in you!
We look forward to seeing your work!

SEGAZINE is a black & white zine about the SEGAverse, curated by Ashley Davis, Corey Lewis, Ted Martens and Paul Veer. It's about characters and games from a magical time when SEGA still stood for hip and fresh games. A kind of attitude sorely missing in today's games industry.
Celebrate these times with us! Show us what the SEGAverse means to you. Has it inspired you in any way? Changed you as a person? Do you have any good stories related to SEGA to tell us? Or do you just like drawing SEGA things? It's all good! We'd love to see it!
Submissions are open until November 30th (2012), so get to it! We will be accepting anything as long as it can exist on paper. That means drawings, 3D renders, photos, written stories, comics, poetry. Anything you can think of.
Though we are taking all submissions, we won't be able to put them all into the zine. We will choose a specific number of entries to go into the actual phsyical zine. This number depends on how many submissions we get. After we print the zine, the remaining entries will be posted daily on this tumblr page (artist name, site and twitter included), so everyone will get a chance to be seen!
If you're looking to submit something, here are the rules:
You can pick any game, series or console from SEGA's legacy, as long as SEGA has developed said game or it is very closely related to a SEGA console (like Gunstar Heroes, for example). Crossovers of franchises are totally allowed!
The zine will be black and white printed, so make your submission black and white print friendly!
Images have to be 12x12 centimeter at 300dpi. If you want to do a spread, you are allowed to use 12x24 centimeter. In both cases, add a 3mm bleed to the edges of your image.
For comic submissions, you will be allowed a maximum of four 12x12 centimeter images.
Let's keep it clean, people. Some violence is okay (as SEGA's games were kind of edgy and in your face), but let's not go overboard. No excessive blood or gore, and nothing suggestive, please.
Please take your submissions serious. We love stuff like Dumb Running Sonic, but this is not the place for that. We want to see some proper SEGA love!
Submission does not guarantee inclusion. We will pick the best submissions for the physical zine. The rest will be posted on this tumblr page.
You can e-mail your submissions to [email protected]. Please include your name, the name of your piece and any other information you want us to display with your entry on the site (twitter or website url, for example).
Please send us download links instead of attachments, as files at 300dpi can get quite huge.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at [email protected]
