I understand your experience, and I know people who share it, and I also know catholics who support this kind of doctrine, but remember that the Catholic Church is like. huge. I, for one, grew up being encouraged to question by priests and people in the church. I know that experience is not universal, but it definitely isn't singular or rare, especially where I live. By no means am I asking you not to stand behind what you said or criticise the Catholic Church because that is your right as an ex-Catholic. But OP was simply criticising "Christianity doesn't allow questioning" as a blanked statement because they have had a different experience, as did I and many others.

Also, most Christians have not read the bible in full, so suggesting that what it says in there is what all Christians actually think about doubt is a bit of a stretch, imho.

i frustrates me when people say “christianity doesn’t allow questioning” because almost every church i have attended (both mainline protestant and catholic) have allowed for me to question doctrine. that is not to say that indoctrination doesn’t happen within christian spheres… it does. however, not every church is founded on far-right fundamentalism. and questioning scripture and such is often used as a teaching tool in a christian context.

Ich: Die von Johann Wolfgang von Goethe geschriebene und im Jahre 1782 veröffentlichte Ballade „Der Erlkönig“ erzählt die Geschichte eines Vater, der mit seinem kranken Sohn durch die Nacht reitet. Der Sohn des Vaters halluziniert und sagt, er sehe und höre den Erlkönig, der ihn überzeugen möchte, zu ihm zu kommen. Der Erlkönig beginnt erst, den Jungen mit Versprechungen zu locken, jedoch fängt er mit der Zeit an, gewalttätig zu werden. Während des Ritts versucht der Vater, seinen Sohn mit Erklärungen für diese Halluzinationen zu beruhigen, aber als der Vater und sein Sohn das Ziel erreicht haben, ist der Sohn verstorben. „Der Erlkönig“ besteht aus insgesamt acht Strophen, die wiederum aus jeweils vier Versen bestehen. In der gesamten Ballade wird der Paarreim („AABB“) als Reimschema benutzt. Die am meisten von Goethe im Gedicht verwendeten Stilmittel in der Ballade sind Alliterationen und Anaphern.
