the thing about dionysus, a thing that desire in particular is a fan of, is that they don't care much for etiquette. should they have noticed the respect the trapped endless gives them, they would have brushed it off as unnecessary, something worthless among beings who can change the very fabric of the world with their will. they don't notice, however. they're busy taking in everything about the room, then pacing the circumference of the sphere with something almost like anxiety, a tiger feeling utmost sympathy to a similar creature being caged.

"they really put in the work here," they mutter more to themselves as they stop in front of where they began, hands on their hips with a scowl on their lips. the longer they wait, the more beastly they become. their teeth are already showing past their lips, pupils thinning to slits.

it doesn't occur to them to smear the paint. no, their mind is buzzing with urgency to free him, to destroy the cage.

their arm shoots out to their side, disappearing into a doorframe that opens a fraction of a second before it can extend fully. leaning into the open doorway, dionysus leans back with a sledgehammer in their hands. they grin toothily at dream before taking a single, large step and slamming the hammer into the glass. it only takes one swing to break through with their godly strength, shattering the glass and breaking the painted concrete beneath it in one swing. feeling relief the moment the containment is broken, they begin to laugh, a sharp, hyena-like thing that rings with delight.

dropping the hammer, their hands rest on their hips again. "need something from here? 'cause otherwise, i've got somewhere that you'll like a lot more than this dump."

when the magus hosts his parties, dream feels the life that goes on overhead. it vibrates downward through the pillars. trembles on the surface of the canal water cutting around him. resonates in the glass.

these people, these human beings, dance on with no regard for the suffering they have caused.

he was not surprised when roderick burgess mined wealth from his tools, nor when he used that wealth to increase his fame with feasts and invitations, nor that he kept the true source of his fortune a secret. there were no tours down into the cellar. those of his order who already knew, guards and co-conspirators both, remained the only ones morpheus ever saw.

but slowly, he inclines his head. he is still a king, even here. he has met the gods in pomp and circumstance in the past, but godhead is something beyond that. he will not forget to pay his respect.

so not only have i been so busy the past three days that the only time i've spent at home is sleeping, now i think i'm coming down with a cold ✌ don't know when activity will resume bc i think i'm just going to lay in bed all day
