Manifesto
Superpanopticon: According to Mark Poster, the internet; is a superpanopticon in terms of creating unimaginable possibilities of social control as an area without walls, windows, towers, and guards. The difference from Panopticon is that the people who are supervised, that is, those who use the Internet, are willing to do so. They are global and physical bodies can be watched and observed even if they are in separate places.
In all social processes, observation and be observed have many political and social meanings. This project focused on the concept of  ‘observation’  which is one of the audit tools and has also a very strong meaning. The meaning of observation in our lives was analyzed and considered.
Today, in modern societies, Mark Poster stated that the observer and observed are the same people and that they are doing this voluntarily and defined this situation as superpanopticon. No privacy anymore with the beginning at the superpanopticon. In this direction, it is thought that there is no privacy in this system where individuals continue voluntarily. At some point, individuals become aware of this complexity of observation and lack of privacy, and as Mark Poster puts it, the individual voluntarily continues to perform the action, that is to say, superpanoptic.
All the privacy of individuals in the cyber world; systems, memories, phones and databases. The etymology of the superpanopticon concept was investigated and it was deemed appropriate to call the individuals (observation) opticon-ers.
In this project, one of the most important concepts of observation society, superpanopticon, is tried to be metaphorically represented by individuals. In this context, camera systems which have a significant meaning and reference in superpanopticon have been used in the prepared mechanism. As a result, the observations of individuals who experience the mechanism in the study are represented by the box in which the participants do not have the privacy of the participants during the observation, but are shown as if they existed. It is represented from an artistic point of view that this concept is rather chaotic in itself rather than a linear progression.

Progress to Final Form
When we created a prototype and observed to people who experienced our project, we realized that the project is complex for people so we decided to simplify to project. We destroyed our cabin and we have decided to represent only one of our theories. This was Superpanopticon.

Prototypes
These are our first prototypes sketches.
First element, we created a cabin which represents to privacy
Second, we created a box which represents to cycle in the society of control.
Third, there must be two experiencer in the cabin because one of them represents to panopticon and other one represents to super panopticon.
Our scenario is, when persons enter the cabin, first one will sit and look at the hole which middle of the box and he/she will see the person behind him/her, it is represents to superpanopticon because first person accept to be observer and observed and the other person represents to panopticon because when hims/hers turn came he/she will know to observed few seconds ago. So this situation represents to these theories’ chaos.

Inspired
When we started to read Foucault and Poster we met very important two theories these are Panopticon and Super Panopticon.
Panopticon: The prison building model designed by British philosopher and social theoristJeremy Bentham in 1785. The concept of design allows surveillance. This design, which meanspan(whole) opticon(observation), is based on a ring of several-story single-chamber cells. In thecenter of the ring is a guard tower, where observers remain, completely hidden from prisoners. Inthis way, prisoners are aware that they are being observed at any moment and behave in a controlledmanner.
Superpanopticon: According to Mark Poster, the internet; is a super-panopticon in terms of creatingunimaginable possibilities of social control as an area without walls, windows, towers, and guards. The difference from Panopticon is that the people who are supervised, that is, those who use theInternet, are aspirant to do so. They are global and physical bodies can be watched and controlledeven if they are in separate places.
So after read these theories we decided to focused on superpanopticon.

First steps (research & reading part)
Hello,
in these weeks we read book and highlight some important words or sentences, after that we taken many notes about that.
Tumblr media
we decided to focused on some concepts, these are: observation, alienation, be caught in a trap.
observation: In the book, all characters observe to each other and it was very interesting for us so we decided to work with that concept. When we started the researched about observation we found some important names about this theory. They are: Miche Foucault and Mark Poster, at this point, we needed more reading.

Hello
Hello everyone! Welcome to our project development and process blog.
We will entire process of the development of our school project. The project is based on the book Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. Our aim is to create an experience design project inspired by the book.
We work together for this project, we are Selen and Gülçin.
