Dirk: My semi ironic enjoyment of puppets has many layers, from the symbolism of the puppet master to the motifs of heart and the self and the control that come from that. Puppets serve a more overt purpose, they are less played with as they are commanded, influenced. Overall they also hold more mature implication then the others of their categorical objecthood, while dolls and plush animals hold much more immature and childish association. Stuffed animals only reach that level of maturity and respect when they are made from real animals. An adult acquires a taxidermy to display in his home, a child acquires a stuffed animal to populate the ecosystem of their beds. In turn, the difference between a puppet and a doll are the strings that command the puppet, or the hole in its ass allowing the puppet’s mouth to move. As an enjoyers of puppets it’s only reasonable I would find similar appreciation for craftsmanship and of the puppet’s cousin, the doll. There really is no reason for me to reject an entire medium of art and craftmenship due to the immature and feminine socialital association.
Jade: do you want me to buy draculaura for you and you can pay me back?
Dirk: Yes.

I genuinely think there was no greater insight into the modern Christian mindset than when the Pope said he very much hoped Hell was empty and he was absolutely hounded by both Catholics and Protestants outraged at the idea of a man who wanted a place of infinite suffering to have nobody in it.
