In it is a t shirt with a familiar 'if you believe in telekinesis raise my right hand'. She just had a feeling it was his sense of humor, and she found the irony of her giving it to him funny, even if he isn't supposed to know why she'd find it funny. // happy birthday peter

IN ALL HONESTY, Peter wasn't thinking much about his birthday— half of the time he doesn't even remember what day of the week it is, and though it was on his mind as it grew closer... realization didn't exactly hit him until he glanced at the date. Less inclined to admit that he's been pushing it out of his mind on purpose, his tendency to be all over the place is a good enough excuse as is. He left for an early patrol that morning, spending hours helping whoever he could find, and rushing to work that afternoon to edit his newest batch of photographs for Jameson's website ( who, thankfully, he didn't have to deal with much ).

Returning to the apartment, he's restless. He thinks about throwing the suit on again, spending the rest of the day swinging as far as he could around the city. But... it's still summer ( fall semesters around the corner ) and a part of him wants to visit the cafe... another thinks about May ( knowing she would want him to find a way to celebrate doesn't make it feel any less wrong ), the rest knows that stopping to think about anything... he can't.

Too distracted when he walks in, he only catches what's on the counter after he shrugs his backpack off, pulled from his thoughts. He doesn't know where Addy is, but she must have left it there while he was gone. He's smiling, bright and real ( the first today ), and decides to leave the cupcake, hoping to light the candle when she's back. Focus turns to the gift bag, pulling out the t-shirt that he doesn't even have to read to recognize. Oh. Peter lost a lot in the transition between everything, sometimes the little things were the strongest reminders. He laughs as he unfolds it, one that shifts into an exhale, half elated and half nostalgic. She couldn't have known, not the way he does, but it's bittersweet all the same.

"Thanks Addy," He says quietly to himself, for the reminder that he hasn't lost everything. Peter figures he can throw it on now, say it to her later, and make some kind of small celebration of the night— they can have that much at least.
