I’ve been wanting to learn more about how to naturally dye fabrics and well it just so happened today that I stumbled upon this gem of a lady today! What an amazing wealth of inspiration @rebeccadesnos is, she’s come into my craft space at the perfect time. I highly recommend you follow her as she has some amazing ideas and I’m super excited to learn how to dye fabrics using avocados 🥑 yep, who would have thought?

She’s not completed yet, but little Sally the bunny came about because my daughter Willow wanted me to make her a bunny doll to play with leading up to Easter. Little Sally still needs her arms attached but as you can see, she’s already looking super cute in her handmade winter scarf. I’m thinking I need to reopen my Etsy store 💭 hmmm... ❣︎

Lately I’ve been feeling more creative, it’s been wonderful creating new things for my loved ones. I was going to crochet a blanket out of this yarn, but Willow loved the colour so much she asked for a scarf to be made instead so she could wear it. It’s wonderful seeing her happy with something that she saw her mumma create out of love ♡ (at Ormeau, Queensland)

What a fun and meaningful experience playing with ice is. We’ve been waiting for the perfect warm day to bring out our natural ice cubes which we filled with flowers and leaves from the garden. Playing with ice, is a great part of Sensory play, which contributes in crucial ways to children’s brain development. Stimulating the senses sends signals to children’s brains that help to strengthen neural pathways important for all types of learning. As children explore sensory materials, they develop their sense of touch, which lays the foundation for learning other skills, such as identifying objects by touch, and using fine-motor muscles. You can add materials for children to work with at the sand and water table which stimulate many sensory attributes — they may be warm or cool, wet or dry, rough or smooth, hard or soft, textured or slimy. Discovering and differentiating these characteristics is a first step in classification, or sorting- an important part of young children’s science learning and discovery. ❉⚘❂❣︎☮︎ (at Gold Coast, Queensland)

Probably one of the best photos I’ve ever seen. Photographer Jayaprakash Joghee Bojan showing a male orangutan peering from behind a tree while crossing a river in Borneo, Indonesia. To think that we are destroying their habitats for products we don’t even need. Animal agriculture being the leading cause of rainforest destruction, green house gas emissions, species extinctions and trillions of deaths each year and the list goes on... There are so many reasons to go vegan, but looking into the eyes of the animals like this one it’s clear to see the main purpose of why we should be living a more peaceful and harmonious life alongside these magnificent beings. When I went vegan it really was the most empowering decision I’ve ever made, it just made sense on every thoughtful level. ❉ ⚘ ❣︎ ☮︎

He’s got the Nickname The Hurricane. Rarely does he sit or stand still, always has some important thing to take care of, like throwing toys everywhere (because that’s what toys are for) or sitting on our heads because apparently heads are cushions and are great for farting on. One minute he’s here, then he’s there, then he’s run off somewhere way way way over there... 🤦🏼‍♀️ it’s a boy thing right? Right? Cos my girl was not like this at all so I’m blaming the male genetics testosterone thing here cos this kid is like an energiser battery that never needs to be charged, girls need charging, we like to sit still and play it’s what we do, in fact I have a doctorate degree in sitting on my arse relaxing, that’s how good we females are at this chillax state, we’ve got this thing covered 👌🏻 But, amongst the gushing of the storm and the stepping onto broken pieces of LEGO where I try and contain my “holy shit that effing hurt” <insert more curse word moments> there’s some silent and peaceful times where he just looks at you with his baby blues and the exhaustion from running after him all day fades away, and you get to take that big deep breath of a moment (only lasts a second, so fully suck it in mumma) to remember what this crazy love thing is all about. Although I do look forward to nap times and the save me from this lack of sleep coffee times, when he finally does close those eyes - and I’m thinking thank <insert f word> for that! I must say, ‘The Hurricane’ times are just as special because hey, at least I can blame the messy house on someone else now and at least someone here is getting enjoyment out of it all, and as long as he’s happy, the rest well you know how it goes... ♡ (at Gold Coast, Queensland)

You know those really tough days you have where you don’t want to get out of bed? You know the ones where everything is an effort and you just want to stay under your blanket and not get out, ever? Well this morning was one of those days, in fact yesterday was too if I’m to be completely honest, but then something happens to brighten up your day, something unexpected, it could just be a teeny tiny thing someone does to make everything seem much better. Willow has a knack for turning my life around in a positive way and putting my thoughts into perspective. She’s pretty cool like that, I mean who couldn’t smile after seeing her like this?! 🖤 ❉ ⚘ ❣︎ ☮︎ (at Gold Coast, Queensland)

What a morning! Willow’s been at this creative painting business for over 3 hours now- THREE HOURS! 😳👏🏻🦋 She’s been flowing her creativity from doing art work over at her eisel, then she’ll move across to the different textured paper to experiment on and somewhere in between she will paint one of the empty boxes we have left over for recycling. Busy busy little bumble bee she is 🐝 Meanwhile her brother Mason at the ripe old age of a hurricane, hasn’t stopped picking things up and throwing them everywhere 😂 (at Gold Coast, Queensland)

It’s been five days since we turned the tv off and are yet to turn it back on. Can I just say what a positive difference it has made to the children’s emotional state and the way in which they play, such a positive step forward! I totally recommend for children to go without tv and technology, we often get caught up in giving into our kids and using tv and devices to give ourselves some free time, I’m the first to admit I used the tv to give myself some moments free 🙋🏼‍♀️ but since going without such things I’ve noticed how much better we all are- no more tantrums from Willow is one of the biggest positives I have noticed, she has really regulated herself emotionally during times of frustration which is great! More playing together as a team, more reading, drawing, quietness and contentment are also things that have improved. All in all a wonderful experience and I’m not missing the tv one bit, it can be turned off forever as far as I’m concerned 😊🙏🏼 (at Gold Coast, Queensland)

These are going to be so much fun to make with my children, I’ll update you on our take on these once the children have crafted theirs- stay tuned 🍂

I haven’t been to the gym since Mason was born, I was planning on signing up for a new membership again soon, bahahaha! What was I even thinking? The little lightning bolt over here never sits still! So I’m officially done for now with gyms, bye bye 👋 because there’s no better workout than chasing after your kids all day whilst they run off with whatever it is they can find and know they shouldn’t have- send help! I’m sure every parent and carer of a child is nodding their heads in agreement right now with a sweet smile on your face thinking “thank fu&@ I’m not the only one who’s running around bat shit crazy after my kids all day” aren’t ya? 😉 Cheers to us I say and our will to keep varying on, even after we’ve run 50km just in the morning 😂🍻🥂🍾🍹

The little spaces we create into our children’s environment can be the difference between a hurricane and a gentle summers breeze. Are your kids running around like crazy? If so, take a step back and look around you, how does the space you’re in feel? Is it a chaotic mess or is it simple and easy on the mind? Children are heavily influenced by their environment- you can’t think in chaos, turn down the music, relax and create a space that’s easy to be in, and then sit back and watch as your children quietly learn through play in a relaxing environment that you’ve helped create. 🌿🍂

See how Mason’s using his feet to keep the board in place? It’s so important to let children, especially at this age to play without shoes on so they can use all their sensory skills to their advantage and get that neurological brain function working at its peak. 🍂 I love watching him play like this, he’s become such a determined learner, and so patient with himself when it comes to completing tasks. 👏🏻😘 He sat here for a good ten minutes building a block tower before Mikey dog decided to whoosh on in like a hurricane and destroy it all 😂 (at Gold Coast, Queensland)
