sort of a specific question, but ive been thinking about it bc id imagine if it is the case, it is super cute: in a lot of animals like cats n stuff, theyll clean each other as like. a friendly thing! like a Just Hanging Out, but also taking care OF each other!! or like with monkeys cleaning each other. and like. humans do that sorta stuff too!!!! and i was curious if any types of objects generally display similar behaviors to that!! like i would think itd be smth especially seen in objects w fur or feathers and not like. black holes or anything, but i dont actually know for sure, but the idea just warms my heart and im assuming youd know the answer :)
yes!! a lot of very social and pack-oriented species partake in grooming behaviors :) there are too many species to list here but it definitely does happen, and it's more common than you'd think. feathered objects will straighten each other's feathers out in preen each other in a way similar to birds. plenty of them, especially those that live in harsher environments, huddle together for safety and warmth and prioritize protecting the weaker members of their groups. in modern environments, objects openly mingle and display these behaviors with people they are close to, regardless of species (even humans and animals, yes).
