Her smile lessened just a wee bit. Tenko wanted to tell a joke. “’Oh, and who would that be, Tenko?’. ‘Youtube!’”. That’s how the scene played out in the unmasked girl’s head, and of course she also imagined Eira puffing up her cheeks. That expression always amused her.
In exchange for the lessened smile, her cheeks warmed to a subtle red. “Why would you learn from me, Eira? I’m not the best at teaching people things. And I get really impatient, too.” Her eyes moved away to a nondescript part of the kitchen as she folded her arms the other way.
Pillow Fight
Eira stirs the pot a little bit, making sure the noodles got a nice even spacing (that was needed, right?) and were assorted in nicer and more sensible shapes (support each other as long as possible). A small smirk was shot over to Tenko, followed by a small shake of the head.
“Well. I think it’s still impressive. And there’s not much you can do that will stop me from thinking that.” High schoolers cooking was a crazy thing to her. Perhaps that was just the company she kept swaying her though. She sits against the opposite counter, hugging her arms around herself. “What if I’d rather learn from you?”

Tenko gulped and tugged at her shirt collar. “So... killing for fun, then? ...What exactly do you kill? Animals? You hunt for sport?”
She had a good feeling of what Envi implied, but she wanted to feign ignorance.
“I do some other things too aside from my office work… Like actual killing… Like a mercenary job… Only I’m not a mercenary…”

“Yeah, of course you don’t see yourself dying anytime soon. Because it sounds like you’re living a boring office job. I can’t imagine you bein’ placed in death’s path unless your job is THAT depressing. ...You know what I mean.”
“Demons live forever unless they are killed… Same for devils, angels and Gods… I don’t see myself dying anytime soon…”

The meat cuts, being leftovers, quickly reached a lustrous brown in a few short minutes. Tenko toned down the heat for the pan - burned food tasted like shit - and capped the oil, modestly giggling at Eira’s statement. “I ain’t a chef. I just know a few basic cookin’ tricks to add spice to my meals.”
Her hands intruded into the cabinets and drawers until they found the right tool - a large plastic spoon for transferring the soup to bowls. Tenko set the tool aside and, while heat did its job, she leaned back on the counter with arms crossed. Her gaze went off into the living room, staring into space. A cheeky smile formed on her face as she cast a temporary glance at Eira. A genuinely happy one. “Y’know, there’s someone I know who could teach ya all o’ this super easy cooking stuff.”
Pillow Fight
How many surprises did this girl have? Eira wasn’t sure. But she was sure about the fact that she was very interested in learning more. She was different, interesting, spontaneous, and didn’t seem to have selfish interests at the forefront of her thoughts like others she’d been used to. The last time she had been overruled it had been to continue rather uncomfortable group dates. Very very much uncomfortable.
Hips collided with hips and the silver-haired foreigner was happy to yield the unfamiliar cooking floor to the other. She blinked confusedly, averting her gaze and blushing ever so slightly as Tenko seemed to thoroughly seize control of her own home from her. She oddly enjoyed that as well, her expression quickly shifting to one of interest as she watched from a careful distance, quickly bouncing back against the opposite counter whenever Tenko came by.
“I don’t really cook, no, so a lot of this is probably pretty new..” She spoke softly, a softer giggle punctuating the end of the admittance. That was probably embarrassing in itself. Living by herself for so many years you’d think she would have tried to use it more. But certain things were too easy to do for her, like ordering out or buying premade meals. Simplicity and ordered. Not the cheapest but again, not really the issue for Eira until now. And considering the aroma when Tenko put that meat on the pan? She had been missing out.
“…put the noodles in by now? The water’s boilin’”
Snapped out of her daze, she nods with a third small blush. Heat of the kitchen? Get control over yourself. You can learn to cook from her!
“Oh right. I should get to that. I’m sorry, you have me a little distracted. You move like a chef I see on tv.” A bashful laugh, muffled as always by a hand to her lips. She quickly grabs the packages of noodles, unpacking and breaking them up to fit into the water. With all the noises from the kitchen, another occupant of the apartment was a bit curious as well, pink nose framed by fluffy grey fur slowly making its way back into the living area from Eira’s bedroom. Lots of new bravery this night.

Tenko nodded her head and cast a deceivingly innocent smile at the doll. “Yes, yes. Thaaat’s it. Now, to finally heal that little injury of yours...~”
Her shadows formed a black solid mass that acted as a pedestal for the demon. She placed the book down and opened it to the correct page. Glaring eyes scanned the pages once more, her mouth silently repeating the spell’s words. “Are you ready~? Don’t answer that, of course you are!” Without allowing Irre a moment to respond, she threw her hands up in the air and recited the spell’s bizarre wordings - even an otherworldly creature such as herself didn’t understand it. The magic circle began to glow a foggy white, but the demon ignored it and proceeded with the spell casting. She stood her ground as the magic circle brightened, and some kind of hissing noise could be heard from ahead. “This spell better work. I’ll be disappointed otherwise~” she casually thought.
Shadows
Irre blinked when the book was snatched from her hands and she watched the elder girl look through the book up until she came upon the page that had the healing spell on it. So it looked like she was going to heal her arm after all, at least she was good on her word for the most part, irre was unsure what else this strange girl would do. She was then snapped out of her thoughts when she heard the book slammed shut ans she went back to staring at her and waited to see what will happen.
“Stay..still?” She said with a small tilt of her head and then watched as a tail was shown and then moved around her, making the circle, and it was the correct one was as well. This made Irre a bit more at ease as she worried that the girl was actually doing the right thing and not doing anything else to her. Once it was done, the tail retracted back into place and the girl began to walk slowly towards her. “L-lay down..no need..to force me..” Irre said with a shake of her head and then laid down on the circle just as normal whenever her masters had to do this.

Tenko’s cheeks turned a little more pinkish than usual at hearing Irre’s yawning. She stood up and waved a hand back at Irre, signaling her to follow. “C’mon, you must be tired. I’ll go get your bed ready.” Irre didn’t mentioned anything about dinner, so it must be alright to skip it, right? She didn’t want to be pushy on the little one. Besides, not everyone needs to live on a 3-meals-a-day. Right?
“Mental note: never have children,” she mused to herself.
She entered the guest room, the room where Irre would be sleeping. A nimble hand flicked on the lights. She whipped the blankets, freshening them up as much as she can, then folded the sheets properly back on the bed. “I’m in, you know, the only other bedroom in this place, so if ya need anything, you know where I am. Got it?”
She tilted her head when the elder mentioned that she thought she saw some strings, ‘she..must have..seen them..probably..should be..more careful..’ irre thought to herself and made a mental note to keep them under control so the elder wouldnt suspect anything. Things were already going good for her, she didnt want to ruin anything now, she’d rather Tenko not feel intimidated by her or want her to leave for being a freak. “Probably..just a trick..of the light..it happens..a lot.but irre..is okay..no strings..” she said and then yawned softly feeling tired now.

“Just ‘cause you live a long life, huh? Yeah, I imagine having a hella long lifespan makes it hard to remember things. But, what the hell. You’re getting a kick out of this now and the present is all you should really care about.”
“I can imagine… I can’t promise the same thing however…”

Tenko, in her lustrous fox form, silently maneuvered through the trees surrounding the freezing river. Her delicate paws disturbed nary few rotten leaves and soggy twigs that littered the ground. To anyone not directly looking at her, the kitsune practically didn’t exist. And she preferred it that way for the time being. Modern day humans were too superficial and shallow to comprehend her more complex tricks. They chalked up the bizarre circumstances to “not enough sleep” or “just imagining things” - nobody freaks out unless it was painfully obvious whatever they saw wasn’t supposed to happen...
Her train of thought derailed at the sight of a peculiar individual up ahead. The person was dressed in some kind of military outfit and... was that a tail? Her eyes narrowed. She wanted to assume the individual in mind was a cosplayer, but their natural movements made her doubt that assumption. Her nose twitched at the newly realized scent lingering in the air. Blood... but there was an odd quality to it... nothing like any injured mammal she encountered, natural or supernatural.
Tenko grinned. Oh, what an interesting incident this should be!
She transformed to her preferred human form, hand on the chin her kitsune mask. She walked to the red individual without even trying to hide her footsteps.
“My oh my. I have to say, however did you manage to have a tail like that?” she inquired, quizzically swinging her head side to side. After taking a closer look, she just realized the person’s... injury? “Oh, and don’t run away scared. I mean no harm... it’s useless hiding from me, anyway. I have keen eyesight, fufufu.”

The river here rushed powerfully, crashing over rocks and even ground. Calmer waters would have been frozen over, but there was no moment in which the currents weren’t rapidly moving. For that Lobco was grateful. If her attacker decided to come after her, she would have a quick and easy escape. She didn’t think it would come down to that since it had been quite a while since she had lost them, and she had been very mindful not to leave a blood trail, but one could never be too cautious. Many predators out there had an excellent sense of smell after all.
For now she was finally taking a look at her wound, and she winced as she peeled away the clothe that had begun to stick to her injured tail. They’d taken a good chunk of it out, and blood dripped freely, speckling the white snow with blue.
All things considered, Lobco wasn’t too worried. She had had much, much, much worse in the past and she had some healing potions that would keep her from losing too much blood or getting infected. In a couple weeks or so she’d be fully healed but at the moment the pain left her unable to do much, and more than that she was just….tired. Tired of this happening again and again.
Sometimes she really wished she hadn’t been born a shrimp.
Her tail reflexively curled towards her body when she heard the sound of footsteps, and she looked in the direction they were coming from. Her attacker, or someone else?

Tenko rolled her eyes. English wasn’t her strong suit, that’s for sure, but she hated whenever people corrected her. “Cherish, remember, same difference. It’s gonna stick to me for the rest of my life, that’s for sure.”
“You don’t have to cherish it… What about… Remembering it…? Seems more like it….”

Tenko followed Eira into the kitchen, taking a look around. Fridge, sink, stove... and so many drawers, too. And Eira lives in this place all by herself? The unmasked girl chuckled a bit, slightly overwhelmed by the entire setting.
However, her face grew stern and serious after Eira’s words. Putting meat into a pot was a simple way to add flavor to basic ramen, yes. But this entire arrangement would be wasteful if she didn’t utilize it for any good. “No no, don’t just stick it in the pot, Eira. Here, lemme show ya.” Eira just triggered Tenko’s frugal cooking mode.
She nudged Eira aside with gentle bumps of her hips so she could dig through the kitchen drawers. “Aha!” she exclaimed, pulling out and spinning a frying pan in the air then catching it by the handle. Tenko brushed by Eira again. The pan clanged on the stove-top, and she cranked the heat all the way to get the pan sizzling soon. Her eyes darted across the counter until they locked onto what she needed. A perfectly fine bottle of oil.
“You’ve never used this thing? Damn.” She let a few drips onto the pan. They sizzled immediately on contact. Her hand gyrated the pan by the handle, evenly coating the oil before the pan reached its highest temperature.
Moving past Eira as if she wasn’t there, she went to the fridge and immediately grabbed the cut pieces of meat. Lid popped of with ease. She placed the meat cubes delicately and evenly on the pan. Their juicy morsels began to sizzle on contact, and a captivating smell wafted through the kitchen. Tenko nearly drooled, but wiped her mouth with her arm before she ruined the meal.
“Hey, shouldn’t you put the noodles in by now? The water’s boilin’”
Pillow Fight
“Ok. that works great for me too.” Eira nodded, smiling as she went over to the kitchen, pulling out a few things in addition to the obvious packets of ramen noodles. Eating first was a good way to go about this for sure. Otherwise they’d try to sing on empty stomachs and it would probably lead to embarrassing mistakes. As funny as that sounded, it likely wouldn’t be very comfortable for either of them. There was no reason to add irritation from hunger.
“I usually just put the meat into the pot with the noodles…” An awkward chuckle, a hand sifting through silver strands nervously as her eyes drifted around the kitchen. Was that the wrong way to do it? She never cared much for cooking lessons. Or cooking things in general. Most of her menu was premade or cold.  Regardless, she went about heating some water. She knew she had that part right.

(oh no you’re in for it now)
Tenko is definitely interested in Eira. Possibly more than just a friend. Maybe as a friend for life or something more, perhaps~?
She loves the fact that Eira is so tolerant of her outbursts, and exaggerated attitude. At this point, practically anybody else at their school would stay the hell away from the masked girl. But Eira proved to be different on so many separate occasions that Tenko can’t help but hang around her now.
Tenko still views the world very differently from Eira. It will take some serious life-changing events to make Tenko change her thoughts. But despite their differences, she feels helpless. Helpless to always be around her, because she forgot what it meant to have an actual friend in her life. Tenko had never met a kinder, more caring person for years. So now she’s hopping at every opportunity to try new things or share her experiences with Eira.
Eira used to be some schoolgirl that she accidentally made cry. But now she’s the person Tenko truly cares about.

Star symbol!
Hmm!
Tenko is very, very curious about Annalise. The kitsune spent most of her life messing with locals. Seeing an oddity like Annalise will just fill her mind with a whooole bunch of questions. Tenko might even stick around Annalise a bit more if she manages to pique her interests. But if that were to happen, Tenko’s gonna pull some unconventional and probably immoral tricks just for the heck of it!

Tenko pulled herself upright, keenly listening to the stranger’s words. The kitsune bounced herself from her heels to toes, like an impatient child waiting for her turn in line.
“I’m just a ki- schoolgirl who needs a lil’ vacation, is all,” Tenko replied curtly, quickly correcting herself. Constantly maintaining her human form was a very recent activity for the kitsune - literally less than a decade. She figured out most basic human customs, but she still slips up on referring to her own self. “Why is a European such as yourself seeking family in Japan? It’s kind of a dumb thing to do. Your people aren’t exactly welcome here. Not that I’m trying to run you off, but it IS the truth.”
Mythical
“Oh…I-I’m just looking for a job and someplace to stay…” The dragoness peeped, staring down at the ground.
“I’ve always wanted to find a place that I can settle down in and have a nice life, but really, it hasn’t worked out much with other places. I just want to have a home like I did when I was younger….I want to have a family again,” she sighed, brushing a lock of hair behind her ear.
“But what about you? What are you doing up here?”

Tenko leaned over, barely sitting on the couch’s arm as she slips the mask into her gym bag. She chuckled, nodding ever so slightly while listening to Eira babble. Eira seemed a bit more fidgety in a casual setting. That, or their officialized friendship is making her see the white-haired girl in a new light. Or both. Either way, tonight was off to a pleasant start.
“Yyyyeah, my stomach’s actually been yapping at me for a while now,” Tenko admitted. That was a white lie. She didn’t even realize her hunger until Eira mentioned food. She slid off the couch and to her feet. Stretching both arms with a few popping sounds, Tenko continued. “Y’know how to add meat to ramen? It’s real simple, if you’ve got a frying pan layin’ ‘round.”
Pillow Fight
That felt way too close. Talk about a possibly terrible start to their sleepover if that had triggered an argument. Eira wasn’t sure if she could handle it especially after the previous storm over chat. So Tenko’s enthusiasm was a wonderful alleviation of her worries, enough to bring back her own excitement. She hadn’t ruined the night yet!
“Yes, my uhm, group of friends from school pushed me to get one a while ago so we could use it when we–they didn’t feel like–” She paused, pursing lips before laughing, one hand to her lips while waving the other dismissively. “It doesn’t matter. I think it’s got the newest songs, it goes online or.. whatever. Would you rather mess with that first or have something to eat? I have some leftover meat I was going to cook with the ramen packets. Talk about fancy, right?” A giggle.
