Just a reminder that the only reason Alicent Hightower survived the Dance of the Dragons is because her spiteful and ungrateful behind was touched by Rhaenyra’s mercy.
Alicent was supposed to be executed along with her snake of a father after the Blacks took King’s Landing.
Rhaenyra decided to spare Alicent because she knew how much Viserys loved his second wife. She honored her father by sparing this woman who bullied her since she was 8 years old and plotted to steal her throne.
That’s the definition of mercy.
And through Rhaenyra’s mercy, Alicent got an even better punishment than death: live long enough to watch everything she worked for blow up in her face while her entire line ended.

People who genuinely support the greens irl make me so uncomfortable. Like half of them glorify the killing of rhaenyra’s kids and are insanely misogynistic about rhaenyra (on tik tok especially) and it’s soooo weird. If I was trapped in a room with one of them I would probably vomit.
I’d genuinely rather be in a room with a bl*odr*ven (evil) apologist than any green supporter.

I think the Team Green fixation on Jaehaera is honestly pathetic and embarassing. She’s not the first or last child to suffer or die in ASOIAF, nor end her bloodline. Why did the Velaryon boys all have to die brutal deaths ? What about all the peasant children who burn up in Aemond’s rampages, or suffer mass rape and murder at Bitterbridge and Tumbleton ? Why do Shireen, Myrcella, Tommen have to suffer a horrible fate ? I never see the same insistence that any of them make it.
I think her death serves two important narrative stories. First, it secures the pyrrhic victory, by ending the Green’s bloodline and making their supposed efforts for self-preservation completely null. It evens the slate between the Greens and Blacks (Greens get the history books, Blacks get the actual bloodline).
But I think the more important narrative is how it demonstrates the effect of the Dance on women in the universe. The irony that the Greens last claimant to the throne is invalid because of their efforts. Jaehaera is deemed unimportant and replaceable by her own faction because of gender, and is therefore relegated to a vulnerable and unprotected position. Their ideology kills the last of their bloodline. She is usurped and killed by an ambitious lord with the same motivations as her grandfather had for usurping Rhaenyra. It shows the cyclical nature of violence against girls and women who have little value in their society, except as bloodline vessels and maybe curators of political favors and supportive wives.

It's so annoying Greencels believe Ryan's and Sarah's goal is "humiliating" and "demeaning" Alicent because they had her betray Rapeaegon and C.O. If anything, it looks like yet another desperate attempt at making Alicent more likeable. She's now portrayed as a tragic hero, choosing the "right side", and TB fans should take to her becsuse she's so "complex", "beautiful", "prominent", "powerful", "sexy" and eager to "redeem herself". Not to mention the writers r shoving Rhaenicent down our throats and making Alicent more relevant that she's ever been in the book.

not to yap about hotd again but isn’t it fascinating how so many are so angry at rhaenyra for calling her half siblings, her half siblings but give no reaction to her being called a whore, a bitch or any other derogatory name by those same half brothers?
again, why do some of you hate rhaenyra that fucking much lmao??

It is a common belief that the marriage between Rhaenyra and Aegon could have prevented the war between the Blacks and the Greens. But what about the other marriage?
What if Viserys had arranged the marriage of Aegon to Aliandra Martell? And why not? That way, Viserys would have formed an alliance with Dorne after the War of the Stepstones. Aliandra was the heir of the Prince of Dorne and the future ruler of Dorne, a Targaryen prince would have been a worthy match for her. Aegon would have lived his best life in Dorne. Being a consort for a princess of Dorne is a dream come true for a lazy hedonist like Aegon.
And the Green Council would have had a harder time crowning Aegon if the prince had lived in Dorne with his wife.
And the balance of power during the war would have changed. Qoren Martell seems a cautious man, perhaps he would have opposed the usurpation of the rightful heir, given the fact that his own heir was his firstborn daughter, not his son. It would also be hypocritical for Aliandra to support the usurpation of another woman. And why would Aliandra leave her homeland to become queen in a foreign and not very friendly country to the Dornish, when she could rule at home?
Even if peace with Dorne was made, there would be many among the lords of Westeros who did not want a Dornish woman to become the new queen. Aliandra Martell is not the sweet princess Helaena Targaryen. I highly doubt Borros Baratheon would support the Greens, given the tensions between the Stormlands and Dorne.
And it would have been harder to hide Viserys's death. By the time Aegon received word of his father's death, at least one of Daemon's spies would have already informed the prince of the king's death. Aegon in Dorne, Daeron in Oldtown, only Aemond and Helaena in the capital. Caraxes and Meleys versus Vhagar and Dreamfyre (it is unknown whether Helaena will fight) is an interesting situation. If Helaena had not gone to fight, then Aemond would most likely not want to fight Daemon and Rhaenys, since he prefers to fight only when he has the advantage in numbers or the opponent's dragon is younger.
