leuthros: she realizes her mistake from the moment recognition shines in his eyes. she hadnât even had the chance to explain ââhow could she have? clary had arrived in idris and barely made it back to amatisâ house alive, then sheâd been unconscious, then luke had been gone and she was sneaking out of the window to find jace. and sheâd found him, alright, but they had apparently moved beyond that topic â both to her frustration and relief â and onto ragnor and she was racking her brain to try and remember how much jace had told the rest of them about her plan.
thereâs no point in keeping the secret now, she figures, and maybe alec knows where ragnor is, maybe heâd be willing to help. fat chance, she thinks, but itâs obviously too late to evade the topic. and then heâs all but dismissing her before she has a chance to answer and clary scrambles up to stand in his way as if to prevent him from walking away from her.
â alec, he knows how to help my mom. madeleine told me it had to be me. â  thereâs a tinge of guilt that rushes over her at the thought of madeleine. magnus had said she was the one person who hadnât made it through the portal when theyâd all hurried through to come here and clary canât help but wonder if this is her fault, too. shaking her head, she refocuses on alec.   â  thatâs why i had to come, thatâs what jace didnât understand. â   and with a sigh, and a hopeful look, she shrugs.  â i donât suppose you might know where i could find him ?  â
He wonders if the drama in her life has always been this present and annoying or if this is a recent development. Simon would know, if Alec cared to ask, and if he wasnât currently locked up in jail. âBecause Ragnor would know the difference between you and any other shadowhunter?â The idea seems a bit far-fetched to him. Thereâs three other people who could handle the task and not be dead weight and oil to the fuming flame that has become Alecâs parabatai wherever the little girl is concerned.Â
âIt wouldnât change his mind, you know, Jaceâs. He doesnât want you here and he has his reasons. That stuff is between the two of you. Iâm his parabatai, not his messenger.â Brothers in battle, and that seems to be all Jace considers their bond to be at the moment anyway. Spending almost half of their lives together doesnât mean anything when you no longer think you are the person you have always been, all because of a question in parentage. â... And no, I donât know where Ragnor is. I just know that youâll know if youâve found him.â

someone: CC is terrible and problematic -points to things written in her FICTION work- someone else: asks CC things about problematic things that appear in her books CC: responds with great detail and sensitivity around subject matter
#»»âââ i just write words down ( out of character )#my judgement for people who characterize actual people based on their fiction work is immense#tumblr thinks people should be so sensitive#but in my line of work i often read books to middle schoolers ( 8 - 13 )#and many of them have heavy subject matter#teachers have picked the books out for the kids#and they read the books so these kids dont feel alone if they are in a similar situation#so the fact that so many on tumblr feel we need to live in this clean society on this imperfect planet#is idiotic to me. that's not possible. stop sheltering when you can prepare people

leuthros:      ouch. sheâd known from very early on in their acquaintance that alec would probably rather smack her than speak to her ââit wasnât as though heâd ever made his dislike a secret. but clary hadnât expected his words to feel as though heâd actually reached out and done it.Â
physically recoiling from the mention of her own plans with simon, clary takes a step back as if trying to find her footing again, shaking her head.  â what ââ no ?  â  but thereâs no use lying about it. taking her mind off of jace had been exactly what sheâd been doing with simon. using him. and simon had known it, too. so maybe sheâs earned alecâs ire, and maybe she deserves to be miserable. it was certainly beginning to feel that way. but even still, even as alecâs frustration with her bleeds into his words and expression, she canât stop herself from feeling a little bit of hope from this news. if jace had been kissing aline just to rid his thoughts of claryââÂ
ââbut then, it doesnât matter anyway, because heâs still her brother.Â
as if snapping out of some trance, she looks back up at alec, her jaw set tight as her words flow through gritted teeth before clary can stop them.  â i wasnât raised like you, and your family, alec ââall i have are mundane eyes. and iâm really sorry that theyâre such an inconvenience for everyone but i wasnât about to sit around and hope someone would manage to find a way to wake my mom when the only one ragnor said he would see was me.  â   by the time sheâs done speaking, her voice has raised loud enough that anyone passing by might overhear, and â without noticing â sheâs managed to plant herself uncomfortably close to him. with more than a little embarrassment, clary steps back again, muttering something not unlike sorry under her breath. but sheâs not, not really. because she couldnât have trusted anyone else to save her mother, no matter how much they doubt her capabilities, no matter how mundane she might be ââit had to be clary.
Hands slide into pockets with thumbs just peaking out. Shoulders rise and conceal his neck with a shrug. âI donât care. Youâve been hanging with us and youâve been around for enough fights. Existing only in your world gets you killed in ours.â Pandemonium was clear evidence of that. But maybe those raised mundane have short memories, too. They do walk about a lot like goldfish, swimming in a bowl, not really with any purpose just constant wandering.
Alec adjusts his footing and a hand rises out of his pocket. Fingers loosely point at Claryâs direction, âWait... Ragnor?â he questions, brows furrowing. Heâs heard that before, well overheard it. âWhy would Ragnor only see you?â He vaguely remembers hearing grumpy green warlock in association with his name, but the link with Clary escapes him. His head looks up to the sky. âAre you connected to every single warlock in the world?â His tone is a mixed cocktail of a sigh and a groan, both equaling out to pure annoyance.
But what warlock would be in Idris? He knows shadowhunters outside of the country arenât the most appreciative; he doesnât quite believe itâd be any better within it. âWish you luck finding him.â

leuthros:      she hadnât come to alec because sheâd imagined heâd have some expert advice about how to stop loving your sibling. in truth, she hadnât come to alec on purpose at all. the sight of jace kissing aline had twisted something painfully in her chest that she couldnât name ââdidnât want to name, because it didnât matter. but when sheâd seen him â the eldest of the lightwoods â clary hadnât been able to help the question that had come tumbling out of her mouth before sheâd even had a chance to think. because maybe no one could give her any kind of guidance on what sheâs going through, but at least alec â no matter how much heâd tried to fight it â knew what it was like to be hopelessly in love with jace.Â
â  right. ââsorry.  â   itâs a mumbled, half-hearted apology. as if her presuming alec would have any interest in what sheâs going through was ridiculous. and maybe it was. itâs not as though the two of them had ever really gotten along in any meaningful way. after all, the only thing they really had in common was jace.Â
and then, her eyes snap up to study alecâs face as he mentions jaceâs own torment, and she falters. jace is hurting too. not that she hadnât already guessed, already assumed as much. but seeing him attached to aline by the mouth had given her pause. was it awful that clary felt some kind of sick satisfaction, knowing he wasnât unaffected by their situation? yes. as it turns out, clary fray was a terrible sister, and somehow this made her feel even more depressed ââif such a thing was even possible.   â  what do you mean ? how is he handling it ?  â
Fingers press on the tip of the bridge of his nose, sighing. âHe thinks heâs some monster.â It seemed obvious to him. Jace never said the words to him specifically, not that the two have ever had a true conversation about the big reveal. But he sees it in the exhaustion under his eyes, a rune can give you energy but it is not a replacement for sleep. âHe was kissing Aline to stop thinking of you, stop thinking of himself as this monster. That should be clear, but youâre both too wrapped up in your own drama to get whatâs going on here.â
Angel, the Institute would be a much better place than stuck in the Penhallowâs home. It was easier to be barely present for their drama than to be the one consulted in the middle from the new girl.
âIsnât that what you were doing with Simon?â Kissing to forget isnât a strange concept for him. Thatâs kinda what heâs been doing with Magnus this whole time. Kissing to forget this stupid thing he has for Jace, which now heâs not sure how real it ever was. âHe didnât want you here for your safety. The Claveâs not always the good guys, they locked Jace up just because his dad is well ... But youâre looking at this situation with mundane eyes, youâre not seeing through whatâs obviously here. Itâs easier to see what you want.â
#leuthros#alec vc: you're an idiot for thinking you're the only one hurting#you're being self centered#you're not reading the situation with any other level than#this is what i want to do and i dont care about any of the consequences#alec vc: in short you're being a stupid mundane#»»âââ there isn't a fastforward rune ( thread )#»»âââ two wars in one year it's the new normal ( the mortal instruments )

The show deciding to make Alec insecure over Magnusâs immortality only makes him look like a petty little bitch. Magnus is completely open with Alec in the show, quite sensitive from the get-go, really. Not to mention at this point in the show Alec seems quite confident in himself via his relationship with Magnus.
The reason in Lost Souls that the thought ever popped up in his brain to do such a thing was not out of his jealousy that Magnus had been with other people. His talks with Camille are always about Magnus. She knows more about Magnus than he does, and since his boyfriend wonât talk to him openly the way heâs been trying himself (there arenât many times in Alecâs life where heâs been able to be openly honest in the intimate way that a relationship requires) he might as well go to the person Magnus has been with the longest. Conveniently, itâs the only ex Alec has confirmation of. The meetings Camille and Alec have arenât simply about what Alec needs to do to rid Magnus of his immortality (having discussed Alecâs options for himself too bc itâs not like Camille wants Magnus dead).
None of this is a thing in the show, so not only are they ruining show!alec but they are continuing to spit on the books. Lovely.

@leuthrosâ itâs not the same, he says, and clary knows â logically â that heâs right. but the other part of her, the one that feels like her entire world is being torn apart every time she sees jace, that part wants to scream that it doesnât matter. it doesnât matter what specific facts are drawing the line in the sand, the line still exists.
but despite the thoughtless, tactless way sheâd blurted the question at alec, and despite the fact that he certainly doesnât owe her any sort of answers, it seems as though heâs at least trying. the trouble is ââ alec doesnât get it. he doesnât understand that the saying is wrong. it isnât better to have loved and lost. it isnât better to have had someone, loved him, and then learned you couldnât have him anymore. that is far worse than it never happening at all, she thinks, and somehow slumps down even further. Â
â  i know. i know itâs different.  â  not better, but different. those words die on her lips, however, because clary doesnât think heâd appreciate them. a groan of frustration comes out instead, and she drops her head into her hands.  â  what is wrong with me ?  â
The smirk on his face comes with ill-timing. What is wrong with me? she asks. She wasnât raised with Jace, finding it difficult to accept him as her biological brother holds some logic to it. Even if it is highly frowned upon. He was the one who spent years asking himself the same question. Boys arenât supposed to like other boys that way. There wasnât anything saying it was wrong but it wasnât talked about but he had seen his share of mundane propaganda on the topic.
âI donât know. I donât even think Izzy would know, so why you come to me baffles me. I canât explain your relationship with Jace better than you can. I just know what I see and even that doesnât give me anything to say. I have no experience with this type of thing.â The experience he has is extremely limited. Simon has more to testify to, but that would be a touchy subject even if they did know his current location.Â
âBesides, youâre handling it better than Jace. Might not help you, but thereâs something obviously wrong with him.â Punishing himself but keeping everyone at armâs length, since learning your father was actually a leader of a terrible organization out to rid the world of every ounce of demon blood means youâre just as responsible. Thatâs what the Inquisitor thought anyway, no one else, not really.Â

khruseos:Ever his trademark it was, the grin thatâd flash and settle amidst his countenance so habitually; surely to Alecâs utmost annoyance by now, âOf course they were; what else would they be on?â Twisting, the stele that still sat lodged within his palm found temporary rotation between his fingers, eye only promptly glancing over his arm, still injured, âSo, is my first punishment that I have to take care of this myself, no offer of brotherly super healing power to help rid me of the ache?â Okay, so he was severely exaggerating, ââYou seemed concerned about it enough back at the club, unless that was your way at attempting to impress our little peeping mundie girl.â
The entirety of his face scrunches up at the idea. âNo,â he vehemently denies. He takes a firm hold of Jaceâs injured arm and with Alecâs other hand he snatches his parabataiâs stele out of his hands. âAnd I assumed you were more worried about your shirt than your bleeding arm.â The stele moves quickly over Jaceâs skin in a specific pattern of curls and lines. In the time it takes the black haired boy to return the utensil the faint smell of burning skin has filled the space between the two. âThere. Now can you be a less annoying and take what Iâm saying seriously?â
