I cannot overstate how much it is a true thing that evangelicals have specific theological beef with the idea of doing good things. Why are you doing good things when the only way to get into heaven is through faith in Jesus Christ, if you do too many good things or if you advocate too much for doing good things that sounds suspiciously like workism. Also trying to alleviate suffering is bad because suffering is purification and the only thing suffering people should have is to turn to Jesus Christ.

I feel like it would really help Christian interfaith dialogue to acknowledge that the overwhelming majority of martyr stories from the Roman Empire were entirely made up, but that is a conversation that pretty much no one is ready to have.

the sky does not listen
the prayer is not answered
the men are in cages
the men are in cages with the lights on
bruise tender
the sun is still burning
the trees are still burning
loathe deep surrender
when god can do nothing
when god does nothing
we ask why we are left here

it does still make me insane specifically how many queer people lovingly embrace astrology. I went to a poetry workshop yesterday that was genuinely quite good but also included an option to disclose astrology designations during introductions and so many people broke out some variation of "I'm a [x] sum but I have a [y] placement and it SHOWS" girl no it doesn't. that's meaningless correlation you completely invented the causation

The Biblical figure Enoch is my favourite example of an incredibly minor character in canon who nonetheless gets massive amounts of fanfiction. "Oh he's immortal, he's the psychopomp, God imparted His Wisdom unto him, he met aliens, he spoke with angels, he's basically the Hebrew equivalent of Thoth or Hermes Trismegistus"
He is in. Two. Sentences.

this might sound stupid but I can’t help but believe that the new wave of “birth control is actually horrible for your body, you need to get off it immediately” misinformation from influencers and the ‘natural cycle tracking’ apps suddenly being advertised is a sneaky underhanded way of causing more unplanned pregnancies that people now cannot abort. now is possibly the worst time ever to turn towards ‘natural family planning’
