hi i'm back i made a list (stupidly, ironically, on google. i haven't moved over to libreoffice yet but am soon)
they're sorted alphabetically, it has the parent company and sub brand if applicable, and categories, and check boxes for whether they are definitely under boycott or associated with/supporting/supported by israel
not a perfect list—and remember we should be focusing boycott efforts on the big brands listed for BDS, organization is key—but i needed a cohesive list for myself to refer to when getting groceries and stuff because i want to avoid my money supporting this monstrous shit as much as possible
i'll update it probably, but it's essentially what i got from BDS and then searching the brands i definitely recognized on this chart under bdnaash and israel product checker to see whether they're affiliated with or support/are supported by israel
(it's pretty self explanatory i think but there's a sheet page with a key jic, i'll put it here too and some screenshots of specific filters under the cut)
KEY/EXPLANATION
'BRANDS LIST - MASTER' sheet: the list itself
"BDS BOYCOTT?" column:
this column will have a "yes" for brands that are being called to boycott specifically by the BDS movement, and "pressure" for pressure targets. (this last updated Jan 7th: https://bdsmovement.net/Act-Now-Against-These-Companies-Profiting-From-Genocide )
"BRAND/BUSINESS" column:
this column will be red with red+italic+bold writing if there is a "yes" in the 'bds boycott?' column and they are under boycott>do NOT support these places!!!!
"ON LIST?" column:
these will be checked and red if the specific brand is known associated with or supporting/supported by israel, compared to both of these sites:
"PARENT COMPANY" column:
the "Biggest" company behind the brand/business, will be red if the "PC BAD?" column is checked
"PC LIST?" column:
these will be checked and red if the parent company(prev column) is known associated with or supporting/supported by israel
"SUB BRAND" column:
if there is a 'sub' brand beneath the parent company that the listed brand/business is under, will be red if the "SB BAD?" column is checked
"SB LIST?" column:
these will be checked and red if the sub brand is known associated with or supporting/supported by israel
"CATEGORY" column:
sortable by 7 categories, here's how i organized them:
- business = somewhere you would physically walk into, like fast food or a store
- grocery = food items bought at a store/online
- health&beauty = first aid, body care, and cosmetic items bought at a store/online (includes bandages, shampoo, hair products, makeup)
- household = house products bought at a store/online (includes laundry detergent, clothing, paper towels...)
- pet = pet products (includes food and care)
- site = something you would really only access online (amazon, google, social media)
- technology = tech related that is not tied to online only (computers, gaming, media)
'key' sheet: key, same as above
'brands list - filter' sheet: this one has filters enabled so pretty much is just for me, filters only work with edit access unfortunately ;-;
UTDR players on their way to misgender KFC because "they use any pronouns because of all the players" completely missing the point of the games being that the player and character they play are separate entities
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, to listen to doctors and get my flu vaccine and any shots i could because they remembered Before.
then they started fighting Covid precautions.
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that the ozone was disappearing and the earth was dying and we needed to recycle and save the planet.
now my parents think climate change is a myth.
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that racism was a plague, that we had to love and accept everyone, that we should never judge before walking a mile in their shoes.
then they told me that protesting for my Black siblings was wrong.
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that we needed to give to the poor. working at soup kitchens. making quilts. collecting food and money and supplies. building houses. because it was the christian and just plain right thing to do.
now they look at me, on food stamps with their grandchildren, and lament the "welfare state".
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that it was easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven and that any rich man, especially an immoral one, should never run our country.
you can guess who they voted for.
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, so very much.
