“older and bolder and different”
“i want to line up all my girls and see something different in all of them”
Jenna Ortega is seeing it, too. Her roles were nothing but a copy or iteration of the other—always playing the angsty teenager. She wants the same things we want to see her in. But why isn’t working? Why are her latest films mediocre at best? Is it her agent? Or her own decision?
It’s good she’s recognizing it. Hopefully her next films would be the testament of her growth as an actor. I’m excited to see what’s next for Jenna.

Reviews (on letterboxd) for hurry up tomorrow are in, and they are not looking good. Once again, Jenna Ortega’s agent failed to cast her into something audiences would like. I can see that this must be her era where she’s more concern about the people making the craft, rather than if the craft is (and will be) good.
There is nothing wrong with that. In fact, that is an actor’s dream. To be able to enjoy the process of filmmaking and not just one part of it. But it’s disappointing that the final product was not even good. Maybe the pay is good. Maybe its the people making the film. Regardless, I just hope we see her in something meaningful. I wanna see the Jenna I adored in The Fallout. And so far, she hasn’t come back.

the rising success of the minecraft movie shouldn’t be a surprise. a lot of people doubt its accuracy to the game (me included) and how it can live up to its old and new players’ expectations. I believe majority of the people that are gonna be seeing the movie are old players. They’re gonna see it because the 12 year old version of them would have gone. It doesn’t matter if the movie was bad (its to be expected) but what matters is its fun and you get to feel like a kid again.

This basically confirms how Igor fell in love with Anora.
It’s not just a simple support thing he said he was doing. At the end of the film, they connected in such a unique way that Anora was shocked at how badly Igor wanted to be intimate with her by kissing her. Something that is foreign or forbidden in stripper culture. A confirmation that Igor is in fact in love with Anora would change the ending, at least for me.
Knowing Igor have a strong feelings for her makes the ending 10x heartbreaking.
This is the girl he fell in love with and she’s in pain. You want to support her and protect her but she refuse you every single time. How are you gonna warm up to her, then?

The last sentence of this was heartbreaking. I remember the ending in the car, and reading this statement coming from Mikey adds so much depth to the scene and to what Ani must be feeling.
"I fight for the life I have earned." She's not doing anything wrong yet society keeps treating her less of a human.
"I can't go back to how it was." Why don't you just km?! Her breakdown in the car was a moment of defeat. She failed to keep her dream. She lost control over the path she wanted, and now that it's gone, she has no choice but to go back to her old and only life (as rich people so point out) even if she doesn't want to.
Anora's character background (from Mikey Madison)

Written on the back of the script for the film, Mikey Madison wrote the backstory of Anora. It's hard to make out all of it because of the stickers but the information that we can puzzle out makes Ani's character feel real. It is also written in first person so you know Mikey was already internalizing the character.
Here is what I can make out from the photo:
Immigrated and went to the U.S. when my mom was pregnant with me.
My (dad's?) still in Russia.
Mom gave birth to me when she (idk)
I dropped out of high school and (either Ani or her mom) got a job at a grocery store.
I hate speaking in Russian because (something) comes from home.
I hate it because it reminds (something) my father(?)
I rejected Russian so much because I (want?) to be my own person and not line my past (idk) love my mother.
I have so much (idk) because I do what I have to do to support her.
Titled "Anora" and not Ani because Anora is who I really am. Ani is who I pretend to be.
Life shows that I am Anora through my resilience.
A pomegranate fruit is the perfect analogy for who I am. Extremely (tough on the?) outside. It takes force to break (through?) the inside (fully? truly?) inside. I am broken (idk) sweet pieces. Very soft and sweet.
Film is about power dynamics, class.
I fight for the life I have earned and (something) of fighting with nothing to lose because I can't go back to how it was.
Feel free to correct or comment on what you think is the right statement.

well, there it is. someone finally said it. jenna is getting typecasted so bad. idk if its a good choice to go along with this, but if she keeps getting stuck on roles like this, people are gonna get bored of her.
on the bright side, she’s keeping the momentum of her fame pretty well. she’s still getting talked about which would be beneficial for her in the future. im just worried people would typecast her in roles she’s played before and not be able to showcase her diverse and raw talent.
at this point in Jenna Ortega's career, i hope she won't be type casted as this angsty-depressed-teenager who has family issues. i wanna see her take on light hearted movies maybe adventure, action, sci-fi. kinda away from the drama or horror genre. #justmyopinion

wow! we actually got news that (maybe) jenna will star in the book adaptation of Klara and the sun. It's a sci-fi story, and Taika Waititi is directing.

i just had to say it. i need to talk about it.
All this time, one of my friends that shaped my childhood is in love with a girl (idak what their identity is but their name gives it away). I was in shock then it turn into excitement, then happiness, then contentment. I was so relieved and happy for her. Seeing and knowing how much she is loved is making me excited for her. And what makes it great is that I support sapphics. I love it. I read about it. I stand by it. And to know my childhood friend engaged in that relationship makes me so SO HAPPY.
