Julia viewing Isaac as more of a parental figure than a brother most of her life, even after getting a bit older.

Julia spending her whole life waiting for the day she turns out to be like her brother. When she was little it was with excitement, hoping that one day she could be strong and smart like him. As an adult she dreads it more than anything

I actually didn’t have any reference, but yeah I can definitely see that I was subconsciously ripping that off 😭. The original plan was to have her body facing the other way and a more pleasant/serene expression, but the pose looked strange and I was listening to live forever on loop (1000% about the Laforezes to me) so she turned out looking all mournful and resigned. Still, Julia is Julia and I think she came out very pretty.

As the drawing went on I started to envision it as being after she saved Isaac’s life, and she’s staring off into the distance as he leaves her behind once again.

I picked up a pack of watercolour pencils from the dollar store and the palette reminded me of Julia so I tested them out with her ❤️
