heyo you guys can call me cracker! she/hers and serially slow. seth is an entirely new muse to me so please bear with me as he gets settled and tries to navigate his life. there’s more info on his background you can read on his acceptance post or here on his background. otherwise, a little tldr below and some connections have been listed!

fourth year undergrad majoring in architecture and minoring in international relations. 

basketball captain, president of polaris, iso fourth year rep. also member to the horseback riding club and astronomy.

seth comes from a family of old money but he’s an illegitimate kid that everyone kind of hates having around. his father’s second wife has yet to give birth to a legitimate child and so seth has kind of been kept around (reluctantly) because he’s technically the eldest grandson on his side of the family. 

essentially, seth was sent off to yeonhwa as one of the few schools his parents agreed to “sponsor”. really they just wanted him as far away as possible and yeonhwa was prestigious enough for them to still benefit from in name if seth amounted to anything (aka started getting acknowledged by other elite families).

seth spent his life being separated from his mother because she was just his father’s mistress and never recognized by the family. he holds that connection with his mother very dearly. his relationship with his father was strained because his father wouldn’t stand up against the family but also never truly loved his second wife. superstitious rumors have gone around saying that his wife never got pregnant because his father’s spirit held that much contempt against their marriage.

though his father was loving and provided for him, seth believes his father should have done more for his mother and the family they could have become. a lot of seth’s life was learning how to stand up against his family when his father was absent. seth doesn’t outright hate his family but there’s a lot of resentment for the way they basically kept him trapped with the family without claiming him as one of them. really really stupid politics basically and making him a pawn into a larger game in life that he doesn’t want to be a part of.

because of his father’s position in the family, seth has been able to reap the benefits of their wealth. he’s never experienced any poverty or been treated less financially. this is how he’s been able to keep his mother afloat and well-taken care of on the side because his father allowed him to. 

currently, seth’s father’s health has gone downhill. there’s no serious illness but doctor’s haven’t been able to diagnose anything official other than overwork and stress. seth is convinced something is being hidden as he’s been hearing rumors and feeling more distanced from his family. his assumptions are that they’re finally trying to confirm how to remove him from the family or convince his father not to include him on any wills. basically messy family dynamics and controlling grandparents.

seth is kind of on edge because he doesn’t know what’s going to happen if his family does succeed in cutting him off completely. but he also doesn’t believe they’ll get what they want. the uncertainty is stressing him out a bit because his focus should be on finishing his last year of undergrad but in reality he’s worried about his mother and father, and the distance that makes it impossible for him to do anything right now.

overall, seth knows he’ll be okay and that he’d be able to provide for himself and his mother if they were cut off. he’s just trying to enjoy his last year of undergrad before figuring out what his next move will be - where he wants to go, since coming to yeonhwa wasn’t exactly what he wanted for himself and essentially a compromise between him and his grandparents.

extra tidbits

seth was given the korean name yushin by his parents. however, no one in the family has ever called him by this name, only addressing him by seth - one pointed tactic they’ve used to isolate him from the family and heritage. the name yushin was only used by his parents. although paired with terms of endearment and sentiment, his korean name is also has a foreign distance. although it’s been used for his official paperwork to live and study abroad in south korea, no one is quite aware of the existence of this name.

seth has been told by his relatives that his grandmother chose this name for him, based on the god of chaos. something she had heard in passing during a historical trade and thought fitting for the way his father and mother had chose to bring him into the world. though they say it’s a rumor, he’s also heard the snide remarks that its lack of relation back to their own culture was just another platform used to create distance between the real members of the family and seth.

seth is typically kind though can be quite brooding when he’s alone. he always has energy to expend on others though for anything they might need help with. he’s not a pushover though! he just thinks it’s not that hard to be nice considering his own life experiences.

connection/plots

bad blood ; something happened between the two of you about a year ago and honestly, neither of you have gotten over it. there’s only petty animosity between the two of you. in truth, it was most likely a misunderstanding but neither of you are willing to take that first step to settle things for good and have since been declared as public enemies.

blue rainstorm ; seth is pretty composed - this means always having a bright attitude and mindset wherever he goes and whoever he interacts with. but you seem to be the only friend that ever gets to see the more humanly relatable sides to him. when he’s upset, grumpy, and lazy. it’s a stark contrast to what everyone knows him by.

distance by land ; relatives from his family that remained in south korea? probably the only one who would know him by the second name yushin. maybe you’re close or not. seth is illegitimate after all.

just don’t get it (female muse) ; you like seth. you really do. and you think he’s friend-zoned you - something made you believe that. but he still hangs around, supports you, and all these things that don’t really make sense for friend-zoning a person. does he actually just see you as a friend? is he hinting at more? or is he just dense?

gameplay ; friendly competition. sometimes people think that the two of you don’t like each other considering how much you and seth compete - at literally anything. but it’s a friend, close, and valuable dynamic neither of you have found with anyone. in short, you enjoy each other’s company and are best friends.
