“wow. even with hotel rooms? you just can’t get enough of me, can you?” naomi smirks before chuckling. sliding her cup on the table, back and forth between her hands, she then nods. the two as members were quite the pair together and tend to make things interesting in certain situations.“i can’t say that, that’s a lie. we are like the ultimate duo or ship, right? although, i wouldn’t say that you’re boring. you’re just more reserved than i am. which is good, because we both know that i can get out of hand sometimes.” lowering her head towards the coffee, she glances at mina across the table and takes another sip. “oh yeah, kids definitely are. things are different from when we were teens and stuff. at least, to me they are. i was waaaay more behaved and put together then.” seeing that she was also a bit shy, it took some time for her to finally break out of her shell. “it’s not that possible for you to run me off. it would probably take some really weird shit.”

     “you know you’re my favourite and i know that i’m yours !” mina defended her statement. mina always found herself feeling brighter when she was around the other. the happiness and fun was genuine and it definitely translated on cameras or in front of fans. “for sure, we are,” mina nodded, “what was that name they gave us again ? they always comment it whenever we post pictures.” she laughed slightly, she always thought it was interesting what a frenzy the dreamers could be thrown into with just a few clicks. “i mean, i guess i applaud them for just vaping instead of smoking something worse, you know ?” she added innocently although she probably sounded stupid. “i didn’t even THINK of doing these things when i was younger. it’s just like –– why do thirteen year olds act so old now ?! they should enjoy their time as children !”

he listens to her with what he thinks, through rum - clouded vision, is a COOL, UNCARING expression, as if his jaw isn’t clenched and his hand isn’t gripping his glass too tight. lips curled back, he sucks in a breath at her last words, immediately springing back into action.  “ see? there it is. are you saying that you were trying to LOOK OUT FOR ME? by calling me a fool? ”  a humourless laugh drips from his tongue as he looks her up and down, challenging her.  “ i don’t know why you think you’re better than me now that you’re out of your little phase. ”  translation: you used me and now you think you have the right to tell me how to live my life? he knows that’s now it really is. for all that it seems like it, jaebin isn’t stupid. not thinking things through? pushing himself too far? at this point, it’s a HABIT he can’t break. it’s just easier to blame at least some of it on mina, now that he can, even though he’s been this way for a long time before they ever happened.

     she wrapped herself in her arms as if the cool nature of their conversation was enough to chill the actual ambiance. it seemed in such conversations with jaebin she couldn’t WIN. it was a difficult situation when she used to care ( what she still thinks is caring ) deeply for someone and then completely abandoning their lifestyle –– it was as if she had forsaken him. though sometimes she could be blind to her OWN mistakes, she seldom liked to accept them. “i’m not calling y-YOU a fool yourself,” she attempted to clarify, stuttering slightly, “and i don’t think i’m better than you, i’m just trying to spare you some memories that you might find embarrassing in the future.” she couldn’t quite find the right words. she wished that he would actually take her advice for once. “it’s never too late for change and i hope you remember that,” she huffed, “AND it’s not huge changes. just baby steps.”

jaebin doesn’t hold back his laugh, doesn’t hold back the frown that settles on his features after it. what would be the point? it’s not like she doesn’t know the way he feels about it all. as much as she likes to CLAIM he’s hurting himself, he’ll insist that the way their relationship ended hurt him a whole lot more.        denial is a funny thing, isn’t it? he affords her a shrug, she must know by now that there’s no chance in hell that jaebin’s going to listen to anything that mina says.  “ take a break? take a break from what? this IS me taking a break. ”  he’s wry, there’s no let up in the monotonous, bitter tone of his voice. he wants to say MORE, but he doesn’t want to shake any of her memories of him at his worst free. he just sticks to what he thinks is the truth, how he sees it. nights like this are his only opportunities for TOTAL SEPARATION from his onstage persona, where he feels closest to whoever choi jaebin really is. 

     mina always thought the duality if jaebin was interesting and something that she couldn’t always put her finger on. during their time together, she sometimes found it hard to fully understand him or his actions, but it was during a phase where she was trying not to care so much. all aspects, in her eyes, backfired. she sighed, “you’re always so stubborn. don’t you think that sometimes others are there to –– look out for you ?” under her breath she mumbled, “even if things didn’t even on the best of terms,” although she was sure that it was covered by the blaring music. “it’s only the beginning of the tour. i think us, collectively, should start on the right foot. we’ll have the rest of the time to make fools of ourselves,” she said the last part with a slightly cold tone.

“given the fact that you usually just stay in your room? i’m aware.” naomi raised her cup of coffee closer to her mouth, and continued to listened to mina. completely tuned into the conversation, she nods while sipping from the straw. “you sound like an older lady right now,” she chuckles while playing with her straw between her lips, “but yeah, kids are kind of…out there these days. i don’t remember that being a topic of conversation when i was a little bit younger.” she took another sip before placing the drink down. “matter of fact, how old were they anyway? and who talks about vaping in a grocery store? like really. kids are odd.” looking down at her cup, she traces the edge of it with an index finger, she shakes her head. “you can’t interrupt if i don’t have much to say. besides, i don’t mind hearing someone else talk about whatever for a change.”

     mina furrowed her eyebrows with mock offense, “hey ! your room is my room –– no matter where we go.” she arched an eyebrow, “i may seem boring to you, but you wouldn’t want anyone but me ! even the fans know.” she stuck her tongue out as they seemed to be quite the duo, especially during times where they were heavily promoting. “i just feel like the world is moving so fast and these kids are growing up so quickly ? i’ve never been super good at guessing ages, but i’d say they were around thirteen. i mean –– would their parents approve ?” she knew that if she were one of the parents, she would be horrified once she got over the confusion. “okay, i’m glad you’re all right with my word vomit. i was afraid that with such a story i was going to drive someone away.”

◜         ° • *        ♡        / sangwon was supposed to be at dance practice twenty minutes ago but they just couldn’t do it today. their limbs felt like there were about to fall off from how hard they were being worked in preparation for the tour. “thats why i always wear headphones when i leave on my own. if i go out alone.” they mumbled, leaning their head on mina’s shoulder. “no, you’re good. i was just saying that i’m probably just gonna nap while i hide from my manager if thats okay.” 

     mina knew that the tour was most likely taking a toll on all of them. although, the amount of tired each one of them showed was quite different, but as a dancer she felt as though she could relate. mina looked at sangwon with sympathetic eyes and ruffled their hair lovingly –– they were only two years younger than her but somehow she felt an obligation to protect them. “maybe i should invest in better headphones then ? i’ve always eyed those noise cancelling ones,” she let off a soft smile. “yes, if is the keyword since i feel like we rarely ever are alone, you know ?” she gave a little pat on their cheek as they leaned, “oh, i do recommend a nap. hiding from managers ? i’m afraid i have to support that as well.”

     the metallic interior MAGNIFIED the discomfort that mina was feeling and she was sure that the other felt the same. although someone looking through a different lens would find it hilarious that the two were standing as far apart as they could in a confined space, mina couldn’t get over the thoughts that were racing through her mind that only seemed to elevate her heart rate. her eyes shifted from side to side, watching as the numbers climbed closer to their destination. the silence was killer but was slightly alleviated by the routine clink of metal until it grind to a halt accompanied with such panicking lights. bringing a hand to her face, mina gasped, “oh no.” she checked her phone in despair, but without a manager she felt helpless. reluctantly peering at the other she hid her face slightly, “what –– should we do ?” she wanted to maintain an image of tranquility in the face of ‘adversity’.

tik, tok.  tik, tok.      every passing second was so scrutinizing they could be felt dragging their disembodied presence across inches of skin. with his tousled dark locks, a riddle resting on the corner of his lips and the intimidating yet confident air engulfing him tight, the often so easygoing jianyu always found himself getting throttled by the perverse hands of a discomfiture concocted by a shared memory  ──  and the metal walls around them only made it worse, more apparent, more mortifying. his frame left its resting position against the brassy surface at the keen staggering of the elevator & emergency lights replacing the previous bright lighting, digits running switfly through strands of hair and tugging at them as he mutters,  “ oh, fuck me. “      /      @sevendipities.

    “–– i don’t go out in public by myself a lot,” mina began as she looked out the window longingly. her days recently ( much like everyone else’s ) are just filled with preparation with a side of a little more preparation for what was thus far the most important chapter of her life. “but the other day i did happen to go out and it reminded me why i don’t –– you hear the strangest conversations in the weirdest spots,” she huffed. “like these young kids were talking about vaping when i was weighing my bananas in the grocery store ?” she looked at the other questioningly, “i don’t know it just didn’t seem like the proper place or time !” she shook her head, “sorry, did i interrupt you saying something ? i know i kind of just rambled.”

     as much as mina would like to forget the time that the two spent together, the chances of that happening were already slim considering the company and seemed to be diminishing by the second with the impending start of the world tour. she could spot jaebin’s signature strut from anywhere ( no matter what colour his hair or what concept his outfit seemed to be matching that particular time ) and always desired to steer away. he was in the past, she told herself, but most of the time she had a hard time letting go. she sighed as she realized that it was too late to escape and his biting question seemed to drive a stake through her, “hm, maybe.  if you consider letting loose feeling like crap the next morning i might not,” she said trying to remain stonefaced. “i already know your answer –– but maybe –– don’t go too hard tonight ? for your sake. it wouldn’t hurt just to take a break, you know ?”

there’s only so long that you can avoid someone before the universe fucks you over, and throws you into a situation where you can’t just walk away. or, in the case of choi jaebin & ahn mina, it’s only a matter of time before they end up in a predicament where jaebin is drunk enough that he doesn’t just WALK AWAY as soon as their friends abandon them together. awkwardness still ensues, but this time, the memories of their less than ideal ending don’t deter him.  “ are you DRINKING tonight? are you gonna let loose a little? ”  a standard enough question for anybody else. but when directed at mina, it’s an underhanded jab at the idea that he could have ever been just part of a phase.  /  @sevendipities !

      “i’m very much aware of the party, yejin-ie !” she affectionately patted her childhood best friend. she was back in such a setting with such music before –– the world tour was unprecedented in her eyes –– everything was new. the way the lights reflected off the various surfaces and the vibrations from the music reverberated through every piece of furniture, the main dancer couldn’t help but want to move, especially with her group’s song on, “okay, you’ve convinced me this once ! i feel like i can’t do too much though –– i don’t want to look horrible in a couple of hours.” she was whining slightly, but she always felt like she needed to uphold her image. she covered her face bashfully, “they should dim the lights a little more !”

“ come on it’s a party, live a little! ” yejin giggled, pulling mina towards the dance floor. yejin isn’t the type too lose herself at a company paid event. as the old saying goes, do not mixture business and pleasure. however, mina doesn’t have to know that. and so yejin has made it her life’s mission to show mina how to respectively let loose as their wonderful boss stands by and keeps a watchful eye on them. suddenly a ksyd song plays and yejin tugs on mina’s wrist a little harder. “ now, you have to dance with me! it’s fate! don’t worry, no one’s even looking at us. ”

     “for me ?” mina asked with a shocked expression, “you thought of me for something ?” her heart felt whole that miles was bringing her something. she hadn’t asked for anything from his trip and would’ve thought that she was that last thing that he should be concerned with bringing a souvenir. “you really shouldn’t have,” she continued as she looked in the direction he disappeared. the anticipation was building. “i’m very thankful, oppa !” she called after him.

      “i sincerely hope it’s because you think this is good news ? or at least a good thing ?” she prodded with a smile. “you don’t think this picture i posted is cute ?! i mean i won’t say that the stylist did the best job this time, but i figured we could satisfy the minomi fans ?” she laughed. “or maybe you’re just excited for this comeback ?”
