Finished a request for @spookyant of rat Vindi, already got some saved posts that describes the appearance and did it to the best of my ability to make it close enough!

Also apparently while searching for a good reference image for the cordyceps, I randomly found this when grabbing the best image

So sometime you can learn new things just by random chance from getting some reference images like I did ig

I totally didn’t forget to post the story I have already posted in a community to here including another one I also forgot about too that I could remember to post here later as well-

This is one of two stories of two of my bug OCs, Mostly Melrose but also kinda another bug (the “wasp-ant”) too that’s mentioned in the flashback, who’s actually supposed to be basically a bug goddess OC I have. Just go to the linked post for the current infos I have about the wasp-ant and it’d be the first image in the post.

I’ll be posting the version of the dialogues in the flashback section of the story that’s not em-dashed later at some point. There’s also few words in the dialogues in the flashback that’s not em-dashed at all for y’all to check and put together :)

Melrose stayed in bed, not moving for a while as she stares at the wall until she decided to just sit up. The bumblebee look at the side table to see the bee necklace she placed there, the one she fidget with for some bit of comfort at times whenever she did wears it, she picks it up and stare at the wooden jewelry in her hands. Thinking back to the time she got it as a child, as much she can remember…

The young Melrose sat against the wall while being slightly hidden behind some objects as she sticks her head out a bit and watch the other kids and generally any other bees doing their things.

She was hoping to see one of her only few friends she has around the hive or even Adira the enthusiastic hell ant, yet they aren’t around today. Couple of her siblings would have been with her, not letting her be alone like that, yet they’re at their jobs or are studying right now where that won’t allow any of them be with their sister for even a bit before having to get back to work or continue studying until it’s actually finished.

So she went back to her spot and await her oldest sister, Melina’s return from her duty. She wouldn’t have been in there hiding and instead be out there with her twin sister, Pammy.

Yet she is not with her, now gone ever since the spider incident. She’s now just alone.

The tears are building up upon remembering once more that Pammy is gone. Though she’s trying to not let a single tear run down on her cheek, and it’s making it hard for her to even see proper as she let out few quiet whimpers that no one would’ve heard at all.

Except a bug did take notice.

Melrose didn’t even see the bug approaching her as she’s still trying to not let any tears roll down but she did felt some sort of slight powerful presence/aura, soon she can see the bug but the amount of tears she has made her vision look so blurry, that she can only make out some wasp and ant features although it’s hard to tell if there’s also even a feature that’s slightly bee-like.

She couldn’t really make out what the bug’s words were as the ‘wasp-ant’ bent down and spoke to her, “O- —-tle ch—d. —- -o-s -ou ex———nc— — r—-nt, is-’t i-? —-h grief —— always stay t—-e in - w— — life ——— —, b-t ———’ll ———s -e so——ing t—t —-l ——— -ou ——— i- - w—, ———te —— terri—- e—-ts t—- —ppe—-.” Then she was handed a little box before the ‘wasp-ant’ speaks once more, “———’s - —ft, ————g yo- —- fi—— with, — —d w—n you w—- -o co——- y———f —th — —en—-r yo-’-e ———- -t. -f — e—r —nt t- —e m- -o —-e ev— - —-ll th—-s, —u’ll know it w—- yo- s-e i-.”

By the time the young bumblebee wiped off all her tears to see the ‘wasp-ant’ properly, the bug isn’t there anymore. No traces of the bug being there, not even a single sound of the bug leaving at all, like it was a being that decided to appears as regular bug to give a small gift and vanished into thin air immediately after.

She look down to the box and become curious of what’s inside of it, then she opens it to see inside the box is a wooden bee necklace.

She sighed as she takes another look at the necklace, “……… I wonder who was the bug that day, who gave me this necklace. Whoever you are, thank you for the necklace… Maybe I’ll possibly give you a thanks in person someday.”
