When two become one....

It was only Sam’s birthday, not Cait’s, but the picture chosen by BAFTAs, and retweeted by his friends, has the two of them in it.

Seems like that just felt right to those that know him.

Well, that IS the official, public, story.

But there is plenty of evidence, many years’ worth of evidence in fact, that the unofficial, private, story is a very, very different one.

And nothing wrong with having two stories; the public one acted out in the public eye for fans at parties and events, and then the private one that is lived out in real life...

Yep, there isn’t anything about that pic to suggest that it is anything other than exactly what it appears to be: a candid photo of a couple going about their daily life together.

Seems that they were caught out in a slice of real life. It was bound to happen eventually. And no amount of pap walks, ‘Made for Instagram’ public holidays, or staged airport walk through photo ops is going to erase that.

Does it really matter? No. ‘Cause that’s the thing about being in love- you are happy anywhere you are as long as you are together!

...and together they were. That’s what matters.

...and, no, you won’t go far arguing that surely whatever this was was for work either- they are both in outfits far too casual to qualify for even weekend casual dress- which would be a bare minimum standard for any professional appearance-and she’s both holding her coat AND wearing her purse. Have you ever seen her encumbered by either of those items at any work appearance? That’s what handlers and assistants are for, after all, and any work event always comes complete with both of those sorts of helpers....

Body Talk: how a couple who are not physically touching each other can still manage to be touching each other EVERWHERE and speaking volumes about who they are to each other even when they are just “sitting there”

For these two it starts in the top with Sam’s head actually tilted towards hers and hers angled towards him and then continues down into the shoulders with Sam’s torso turned towards hers whilst leaning towards her as well as she leans a bit forward in her pose to close the gap between them even a bit more. It’s a protective and caring posture between the two of them from him towards her.

And then the hands. His right and her left would very easily touch each other if it weren’t for Sam’s left hand clasping that right hand of his instead. But for that left hand stopping it there would be a hand clasp that would bring both of those outside arms across them and make a barrier of sorts- with the two of “us” inside the arms and closed off from the outside world even as they sit amongst it- another caring and protective posture that is implied by their pose even if his hand has “interrupted” it.

Their crossed legs complete the “us” sentiment with his right leg coming in front of both of hers and her right toe tucked right up against his left ankle effectively putting her crossed legs protected behind and underneath his.

So what really shows up in this shot for me is his caring and protective attitude towards Cait - an attitude that he always and only shows towards her out of all the women that he has occasion to appear publicly with. He’s her escort- and only hers. And Cait’s obvious acceptance of his gestures towards her convey that she is happy to be his escortee. The body language, here. and always, says that he’s her man, and she’s his woman and that both are quite happy with the arrangement.

WE FORGOT TO TAKE A PIC...!

.....but if we HAD taken one it would have looked just like this one! It would have had me looking oh, so happy with, and more than just a little bit possesive of, the woman standing pressed against my arm. The woman who, in turn, seems quite happy and comfortable standing oh, so close to me and draping her arm, possessively, across my shoulder....

...And then we would have ended up, as we do whenever we take pictures together, looking just like a close and happy couple. And that’s not the story that we are supposed to be selling with these public outings! So, we took no pic!

And then there is that “We”...which certainly calls to mind an “Us”- a couple- who, together, attended a party and then, collectively, forgot (or were told not) to get a pic done together since the inevitable outcome would only reinforce the “WE”. (It’s hard for two people to not look like an “US” when they are one!)

So it seems that even though it had to come a bit through the back door here is the pic that WE would have had taken of US at the party that WE attended. And then WE do a bit of playful and flirty banter over my bow tie malfunction and the intriguing cut out in her dress just to make sure that the fans can see it’s all good with US even if we have to sell some other story in the public eye....

Great to have you back! Unfortunately Starz/LG is also back with their BS and trollmarketing the closer we get to the premier. The only difference compared to 2017 is that this time it's Caits public private life, not Sams, they're using as a marketing tool.

Yep, the fact that this stuff always ramps up as we approach any sort of outlander related function really only makes it look even more fake doesn’t it?

And yes, it does seem to be Cait’s year to take the lead for the “private life” marketing- though with every move documented on IG or by paps it’s a bit far fetched to asks me to consider that it is her true “private” life that we are being bludgeoned with lol!

To me all that bluster from Starz and Co.-it looks just like marketing, just like you said. And the fact that it seems Cait is now taking it in turns with Sam as to who will take the lead with the misdirection is kind of sweet, really. And, unfortunately for whoever is trying to sell this hooey, that they are doing it this way only makes Sam and Cait look more like the couple- when It was increasingly obvious that the parade of blondes was wearying Sam what else would a caring partner do but step in to help shoulder the load?

Yep, it only looks odd because of the flat background- they are in front of a stage backdrop.

And I don’t recall a single instance where any photo of Sam and Cait standing together has had to be manipulated. That honor belongs entirely to another person...

Hi Trish, it’s Photo Anon. My submission today has two purposes. First, outside a handful of exceptions in the past I only submit things to your blog. Anyone using that name to send anything to other blogs is not me. I’m not looking to trademark or anything here but I want to be clear that those people are not me, especially when I disagree completely with that they’re writing. That brings me to the other reason I’m writing - there is nothing wrong with the photo of Sam, Cait, and Leanne. Nobody was photoshopped in and the background is not suspect or nefarious. The painted backdrop with trees is no different from the rest of the set Leanne was on that day - see the photo above of the flat, painted houses in Leanne’s other photos. The trees were not added later. I apologize for jumping in but I don’t understand what anybody would get out of proving this was a manipulated photo.

Hey long time no see!! It’s good to hear from you! I think it’s easy to tell that it’s a backdrop and similar in appearance to the other photos Leanne posted . As for others using the moniker Photo Anon there’s only one ORIGINAL and proven time and time again authentic Photo Anon and that’s you!! I guess imitation is a form of flattery right? Nope, not leaving. Shit shows are nothing new in this fandom and hiatus is the favored time for them. It’s expected. And it doesn’t faze me one bit. I deal with loads more shit every day at work than this. Literally.

It’s always the little things…the things that happen unconsciously…that give it away…

Like playing with that ring that you wear all the time, at least all the time when you aren’t in the public eye. Anyone who wears a ring knows this gesture. You grasp it with the fingers of the opposite hand. You toy with it and move it around. Especially when you are distracted, like here at an impromptu appearance. And just because it’s momentarily not there doesn’t change the habit one bit. Anyone who wears a ring knows.

But not to worry. That finger may feel a bit empty just now but that ring is not lost. And with partnerships like that usually come rings…

Are you Ok?

I’m fine, just really really, really busy at work these past weeks getting getting ready for a big event. Sounds like some really great stuff happening lately for the ship though! I’ll be back online after the weekend to catch up!

She was there and in a video with him shared first by the MUA. Why would they fake a pic? The entire pic is flipped.

Yes, she WAS there, and she WAS in a video shared by the make up artist. But it wasn’t exactly a video WITH him. She’s standing quite a ways off from Sam when she does that hair flip whilst he is getting his tie adjusted in the background. That’s not exactly WITH him in my book, anon. And it looks like that’s as close as she got he entire evening too since the only pics of them posing “together” are obvious fakes.

And as to why fake a pic? Probably to cover up that little problem of no pics of them “together” the entire evening. Because there aren’t any. Not even one. And there should be. There really should be. It’s very Odd for a guy to fly all the way from Scotland to LA to take “his” girl to a fancy party but then not spend even enough time at her side to get even one photo done. And, no, it’s not about “privacy”, not after there has been a pap walk. Actually there has been more than one pap walk- so not for privacy are they avoiding pics m. Pictures of the two of them “together” at an event like this would be natural, and expected, if this thing between them is really what it’s said to be. But with stiff like this going on it seems that it’s really not. So pics really were needed here to sell this thing, but there were not any available. So if you can’t get the real thing- then have a go at faking it. Who knows you might get lucky and convince somebody.

And no, the entire “glam squad” pic is not flipped. Just MM. Sam isn’t flipped. And Monty isn’t flipped- look at a pic of him and you see that he has a very prominent mole just to the side of his nose on the left side of his face and another quite visible one on his right side temple. The “glam squad” pic shows what seems to be his right side of his face and it is with that temple mole in place so that tells you that what you see as the right side really IS the right side of his face. That pic isn’t flipped-or you would see the nose side mole of his left side on that seeming right side of his face if the pic was flipped. Someone just got in a hurry and overlooked an important detail as they added MM- and a hand of very uncertain provenance- to that shot. Seems that in their zeal to create a “together” shot they have only provided more proof about “not together”! Oops! Better luck next time.
