alien stage is definitely one of those medias where you need to see all the supplementary material (comics/sub songs) in order to properly understand the lore like if you're just a casual viewer you'd completely be oblivious to stuff like - hyuna having conflicting feelings about luka, which would make it really confusing seeing the jump from her having a mental breakdown over him to sacrificing herself for him and telling him to live with love despite him assaulting her and killing her brother - till having conflicting feelings towards ivan and their relationship not being a case of "A didn't care about B's feelings until B is out of the picture" - (likely to be brought up in karma) mizisua wasn't all sparkles and rainbows with their only flaw being codependency, which would be confusing seeing the jump from them being happy in r1 and tragic in r6 + the mizisua vid to mizi exerting control over sua, unintentionally forcing her to keep up this "paradise" for her and (probably?) coercing her into continuing their plan of doing a tie in alnst even though both of them know how risky it is

The amount of hanging plotlines make me think that Amano is probably not planning to end it here, but the sales is kinda low so she was forced to end it. Also, it could be that she doesn't wanna write this series anymore. Idk what's true, however. But still... The amount of chapters should have been enough for some Totomaru character development, or just a semblance of a backstory even. If your name is not Ron, fuck you. I guess. Heck, even Ron's writing got... Stilted. So I'm really leaning on she doesn't wanna write this anymore.

I can't believe that AA would end RKDD so shamelessly at such a moment.

Because then Ron's entire journey would be meaningless. Just imagine. Toto is literally the most valuable character in the manga. No one. NO ONE would be as important as him.

Who showed Ron the way to a better life? Who saved the guilty from Ron's syndrome? Who was with Ron the whole time after five years of isolation?

Only one person.

Only Toto was able to show Ron what happiness is. Only he was with him the whole time. Even if Ron didn't appreciate his person (especially in this arc) Toto still helped him.

Toto is literally the center of this manga. Yes, it's very thoughtless to say so, but it's true. Neither Ron nor the other characters are the center.

Toto is literally the last piece of the puzzle that holds the whole picture together. Taking this piece away means destroying the whole picture.

The entire journey that Ron has gone through as a character will make no sense if Toto dies.

Throughout the manga, Toto could ask himself the question: "Who is he without Ron?"

BUT NO ONE WILL SAY: "Who is Ron without his partner?"

Toto is an important character. Even a thousand diamonds are worthless if you put Totomaru Ishiki on the other side of the scale.

He is literally the foundation of this story. The character that started it all.

And the character that if he disappears, everything will disappear.

We know so little about Totomaru, but we can definitely say that he has a big heart. Toto is too good for this world. Toto is too valuable to lose.

New chapter update. Since I came out of my solitary shell to talk about this before, I thought I should do a follow-up post.

I remember a time when a Rontoto development of such a magnitude would have deeply affected me and sent me into a whirlwind of emotions for weeks on end. Now it just feels arbitrary and engineered for shock value and I was surprised at how nonchalant my reaction was.

I’ve been blocked from viscerally feeling Ron’s desperation here by all the contradictions and half-hearted directions his writing has accumulated. Ultimately, I see it as just a… perfunctory authorial choice, a final attempt to milk some sentimental investment so as to construct a denouement that isn’t laughably deplored.

‘Caring for Toto’ has be pushed to the wayside in his characterisation scheme for so long that we just see this, lamentably, as a long overdue wake-up call rather than a display of selfless love.

With Ron’s characterisation being so carelessly altered, and every other recurring character’s actions and heck, just major plot points in general, being governed by convenience, the humanity of this storyline (the very key to sentimental investment) has really deteriorated to an exhausting degree. The characters are just tools now, vessels to top up with random fodder for dramatic speech. Alice’s and Toto’s ridiculous ‘heart-to-heart’ really took the damned cake, for example.
