...it's faint, and it's melancholic, but...he smiles, looking at the makeshift grave he'd been sat across from, a name written on it, "Achlys"...it seems like he's been here for a good little while.

"My mom was one of the kindest people you could've ever met. The only thing she ever wanted to do was help people...always saving a little for people who were as worse off as we were...hell, she'd been starting to learn and practice a form of medicine when I was younger, before-..." He cuts himself off, sighing a little.

"...sometimes I wonder if she can still see me, though...what she'd say about the things I'd done..." He'd gotten better but...by how much, really? He takes a breath and finally hops back up to his feet, resting a hand on it and smiling again.

"But...I can't let that weigh me down forever. It...still hurts, talking about it sometimes, but...I have family, I have friends, loved ones...I can stand on my own again, no...no more fear, no more anger." He takes one more look at the grave before pulling his hand off it, starting to walk off and waving back at it as he does.

"Bye for now, mom...I'll see you next year!"

"Still workin' that one out, honestly!" He laughs faintly as he continues. "Mostly just pickin' a direction to start walkin' in, and from there...well, wherever I wind up!"

He finally tilts his head up to look at his on the spot companion. "What's your name, friend? I'm Licorice Root Cookie!"

The hooded cookie blinked a few times, shrugging after and just continuing what he was already up to, looking over a map and just seeming to be trying to chart some sort of loose path of where to go.

"Hello, stranger, can I help you?" He asks after a moment, not really looking up.

...mother's day...he sighs a lil and slips his phone into his pocket, standing up and just kinda staring up at the sky for a moment.

"Another year...and for once I've got options...so to speak..." ...he had someone he could actually call his mom now, for the first time in a while...but...that meant he couldn't go visit her grave anymore...didn't it...? He was supposed to move on.

Her hands raise to cup her son's face, expression blank save for the slight dip of a furrowed eyebrow; Hibiki lets out a small huff as she then brings Salem closer, pulling him into a hug he could pull from if he so wanted, a hand reaches up to run through his hair.

There's an initial flinch at the contact before he just...slowly...leans into her hold, into the arms of his mother. Faint choked little sobs slipping as he feels himself finally let go, just curling in and trying to calm himself as she speaks.

"I'm so tired, mom...I'm so tired..." He manages to let slip free, barely audible outside of their proximity. "I-I don't...I don't wanna be this anymore..."

...he just...shifts a little, burying his face more against her, safe...he was safe...he was ok.
