i'm so happy to finally be able to start sharing my wildly overdue entry for the @shadowmonkeysbigbang! as many of you know, i co ran the big bang last year with the lovely @subtle-as-an-earthquake (a much more time-consuming endeavour than i'd anticipated, hence how long it took me to write my own entry). i always had this fic planned for the big bang, but as there was a shortage of artists i had originally planned to just submit as a solo author. however, due to some drop-outs i was lucky enough to be able to do a late collaboration with the incredibly talented @blokeykisses, who (as you can see!) has created the most magical artwork for this fic. it was truly the most inspiring experience to get to work together, and i know for a fact this fic would not be where it is today without the creativity getting to work with such an amazing artist sparked. the BIGGEST thank you for all your hard work, you captured the vibe of the fic better than anything i could ever have dreamt of ✨

this fic is based on the photos in the taotu album booklet, and is basically my love letter to baby milex in france. it's quite different to anything i've written before, both in terms of content and format, so i'm a little nervous about posting it! i would truly love to know your thoughts on it, all and any feedback is very welcome 💞

Going to be a massive sap and send huge thanks to the @shadowmonkeysbigbang team (@uhbasicallyjustmilex and @subtle-as-an-earthquake) because quite frankly, this story wouldn't exist without you guys. 2024 was a year marred by a creative block for me and I spent the longest time doubting whether I would ever manage to get a single word down on paper, but the excitement of the Big Bang and your encouragement throughout the year has been so pivotal in getting me to write again 💖

Also sending thanks to everyone who has read, shared or commented on this story (especially @rock-n-roll-fantasy who's been keeping me right with any French elements) because your feedback has been the icing on the cake and made the whole experience of creating this fic worthwhile. The deadline for the Shadowmonkeys Big Bang 2024 is now officially closed.

The extension period is now open and will run until February, and there are a few teams using it so we’ve still got a few more exciting collaborations to look forward to! But for now let us say a HUGE congratulations to all our teams who’ve already posted! It’s been amazing to see all your creativity and hard work, and we very much hope you’ve had fun collaborating together for this year’s Big Bang 🥰

We’re planning to put together a masterlist of all the entries once the extension period is over, so do keep your eyes peeled for that!

This is just a reminder that the deadline for Big Bang 2024 submissions is tomorrow, the 23rd December at 00:00GMT (What time is that for me?)

If your collaboration is not ready to post by this time then please don't worry - as previously mentioned, we have an extension period that will run until February. I know I for one (Lulu) will definitely be using it for my fic! If you think you will be using the extension too then please let us know, either by messaging either myself (@uhbasicallyjustmilex) or Minnie (@subtle-as-an-earthquake) or by replying to the email we've just sent out. Similarly, if you have any questions or concerns about your project then please don't hesitate to reach out! 😊

We also just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the wonderful creativity and hard work of everyone's projects so far! Summary: 'He’s hit a wall now. The sheets of half finished song lyrics scattered all over the floor are like traps he has laid out to trip himself up. It’s beginning to feel like there is nowhere else to go.’

Alone at home in LA, Alex reflects on his life as he struggles against writer’s block. He works through memories of: the breakdown of his relationship with Miles, his struggles to socialise, mental health, his closest friendships and the progression of his career. Alex begins to unfurl and wonders if he is truly ruined before a glimmer of hope, in the form of Miles, lifts him back up out of his misery.
