Without this game, I wouldn’t even be half the person I’ve become today. It sounds dramatic but it’s true. I never would’ve met or befriended half the people I know if it weren’t for this game. Even so, not all friendships last forever. Some fell apart, others simply drifted away.
Funny that one game was able to open me up to so many possibilities. For love, for loss, and mostly of all, for hope.
Hope that despite everything, it’ll be okay. Because in spite of loss, love is absolute.
You don't remember the conversation for a long time. It was one of hundreds of late-night discussions, mumbled across the space of the carpet (or, on the bad nights, across the gap between two pillows). It had blended in with everything else they said, all the beautiful and horrible and frightening and inspiring thoughts.
"What if..." Their voice was loud and clear in the day, but reduced to a hoarse whisper after the lights were out. As if they were scared of being heard. You strained to catch their words, but for a little while there was just silence.
"What if... it all stopped?" they said at last.
"All what?" you replied, shifting to sit up a bit in bed.
"All... everything." A gesture in the dark, indicating the glow in the dark stickers high overhead. "Everything hit a maximum and just never went anywhere again. Clock stopped at 99:99--" A pause. You could almost see the face they were making. "99:59. Whatever. No more change, no more--anything."
"That'd be terrible," you protested, the way you so often did. "So like, we'd just be here forever like this? It'd never be morning? What about breakfast?"
"We wouldn't know about it," they answered, shrugging. "We wouldn't know anything. Or think anything. Or feel anything. It'd just be... quiet. Forever."
"But I like things happening," you said. "If that happens, we'll never get to make up new games together, or film new videos, or try new recipes..."
"But you'll never get new injuries. You'll never face new dangers. You'll never--get hurt, period." A tiny catch in their voice. "If--if you were in a situation where it was never, ever going to get better. If everything was stacked up so that no matter how many new days came everything would only get worse. Wouldn't it be better if it just stopped instead?"
You wished, as you so often did, that you knew the right words. That you understood truly what was hurting them so badly, so you could remove that pain from them and ease it. But you didn't know. You just had them in the dark.
"There's always something new," you said at last. "There's always some new thing to do. Some new chance to take. It... If it all goes on to infinity, then everything good will happen eventually."
"Everything bad, too," they mumbled.
"Yeah, but I think there's more good things."
A long silence, and then--
"That's because you're a dweeb," they retorted.
And even as you protested, and their laugh rose in response, you knew that at least this moment had passed.
You let yourself hope for the one after, and the one after that, on until infinity.
as a certified charisk shipper supreme, let me thow my hat in the ring.
First of all, we need to establish a few parameters for how this charisk actually works. There's a lot of differences in individual charisk interperetations, but going solely off of this image (and for this hypothetical to be possible at all), let's say this is an AU where Chara and Frisk have split and Chara gets their own body, similar to my most recent Charisk fic.
With that established, let's get the first hurdle out of the way. Would Frisk and Chara even get married? That's kind of tough. I can definetely see Frisk in particular wanting some grand gesture to mark their love, and if Frisk is vocal enough about that, I can see Chara somewhat reluctantly go along with it. I don't think Chara would be exactly thrilled with marriage as a concept, especially considering Asgore and Toriel's divorce. There's also the fact that Chara would want to keep their relationship a lot more private and intimate rather than making a big show of it, and I feel like Frisk would understand and reciprocate that. Plus, I feel like even marriage doesn't quite capture the intimacy and understanding these two have between each other after being brain roomates for countless repeating timelines, and I think they'd both know that.
But ok, let's just go with the concept that they'd get married anyway. What would they wear to it? Well as we've established, the only reason this wedding is happening and being formal at all is because Frisk wanted it, which means it'll be a big crazy event with all the monsters and a giant cake. Chara would probably not be entirely comfortable in this environment, and they would be especially uncomfortable if they had to wear something constrictingly formal. This is another reason I don't think they would have a wedding like that. Ok, so if this sort of big wedding is out of the question what's the alternative? I think a good alternative is a very small casual wedding/date/moment between the two and maybe a couple other monsters like Toriel, Sans, Flowey and Asgore. In that scenario, I think Frisk would wear the most over-the top fashion disaster dress/suit hybrid outfit, I feel like that fits them.
Now Chara is the issue. Unlike Frisk, they're not one for grand romantic gestures. However, they would absolutely feel compelled to dress in a manner that would make the moment better for Frisk. The thing is they wouldn't exactly be dressing for themselves in this scenario, or really any scenario. So I think the answer as to what Chara would wear is either whatever Frisk would pick out for them, or something they think would fit the situation, which I suppose because of their upbringing on the surface would be...hmm. I think the issue here is that Frisk's own outfit is such an informal hodgepodge that Chara wouldn't know what to match against it. So... idk. I guess that means Frisk would be the one picking out Chara's outfit, which probably means something that's a little strange, but would ultimately fit Chara and make them more comfortable than formalwear.
tldr; the answer is neither
Who's gonna wear the mariage dress between Frisk and chara ?
cooked too hard talking about how fun transfem asriel could be so im taking a rare moment to post it to the tumblr followers lol

something i think a lot about for deltarune SPECIFICALLY is how societal expectations, narrative roles, hierarchial positionings, and the metanarrative interactions by the player are all often rolled together and depicted overwhelmingly as a shackle for its characters
even seemingly positive ones like "smart kid" "prince of the darkness" or "nice girl in town" are ideas that constrain the people they're placed upon
in that context, i cannot IMAGINE asriel having a positive relationship with his role as idolized golden child in deltarune
I don't think he wears it well. this isn't the sort of story where people can wear that kind of overwhelming weight well
especially considering how asriel is the offscreen apex of all of those conditions I mentioned. both in universe and out, his mere existence is charged with this gigantic significance
so yeah, I think theres no way asriel makes it out of this as "pure uncomplicated good golden boy who everyone loves." something has to crack somewhere and i think one of those cracks could be asriels fucking egg LMAO. Estrogen Will Save Her
