okay I know I'm like a year or two late and someone else has probably already said this but God I just have so many thoughts and feelings about Wilford and Dark and their relationship, however you choose to read them as.
there's just something really fucking sad about Dark being literally all the remaining parts of everything and everyone Wilford once loved.
their fates and existences are intertwined with each other and they'll always be two sides of a tragically made coin, and there's so much history between them and they each still care about each other in their own way. however you interpret that love doesn't change the fact that they'll never be free of each other.
Dark is Celiene and Damien but he's also neither of them, as Mark said. the Celine and Damien that Wilford knew were gone, and Dark is just the embodiment of the remaining rage and sorrow from whatever was left of them. and now Wilford can't even remember them. but he recognizes Dark. he knows that energy.
and on the other hand, Dark is no longer truly Celine or Damien, but he retains their memories. he remembers Wilford when he was William and just......I hurt.
as my friend @shakenbaeky put it so eloquently, not remembering your friends but recognizing a piece of them in someone vs remembering your friend and not recognizing the person he's slowly become after a traumafic experience.
I don't know why is it only know after two whole years of wkm releasing that I'm suddenly having these feelings but it's a Lot and I may or may not fight Mark for emotional damages
(in all seriousness tho Mark is so fucking brilliant and I'll be forever thankful that he put as much care and thought as he did into these characters)
