im srry i keep posting about the OST my drafts are literally full of;;; more OST thoughtz it's embarrassing but having actually played a bit of the DLC now i was wondering if the boss fight music in the DLC was glitched, since it didn't play what i was expecting to hear (Face of the Deep was also glitched when the previous DLC released) when trying to confirm this, i read a vague spoiler that it plays;;; somewhere else??? omg;;;

Damp Caverns biodiversity appreciation post

yesterday's gamin' tried a couple digi-board games from the recent humbund w/spouse wingspan & root (incoming Bird Alerts for both games, of course)

i'm already familiar with the physical versions of both (Root less so;;; currently i only know how to play eyrie [surprising no one]) 10/10 for the visual effort on both of these really made it feel worthwhile if you already have the tabletops

wingspan has bird calls & animations for each bird??? and i love how they visualize the habitat transitions

root has adorable 3D models in place of the meeples & very nice audio design on all fronts as for how they play, i'm liking root's transition to digital a bit better (for me personally, the inherent railroading of the video game format helps me stay a little less confused lol) wingspan often throws me as to where i'm supposed to be clicking, but maybe i'll get used to it. not being able to see all elements of the game at all times is a surprisingly big adjustment ----------------------------------------------------------

but yesterday's Main Event was remembering that No Man's Sky has a creative mode that i have somehow Not been using this entire time

i play NMS to see the sights and come up w/silly names for my discoveries all the hazards & combat & resource management 'n whatnot are super neat to have & i respect them, but the exploration element is so alluring in this game that i kinda wish i didn't have to deal with those so imagine my delight to discover "hey u can just turn the less fun* parts off" *=less fun for me personally, don't @ me :'v

but anyway, i have yet to make good use of photo mode, but here are some vanilla caps:

(i will also need to experiment w/how much my computer can handle with the newfangled optimizations they introduced--these are currently pretty low settings)

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Figment

looks like this is the same devs as Back to Bed, which i remember enjoying my brief time with (i should go back to it sometime)

voice-acting is a mixed bag some of it is fine but then u have dad saying "o crap" extremely casually before hurtling into a traumatizing car crash

graphics/art direction are gorgeous though (bird alert)

pmuch my fave combo: static painted backgrounds w/texture-painted character models (the floating islands w/pathways rising & falling also feels a bit bastion-inspired)

OH the bad guy is singing now idk how i feel about that it seriously looks so nice though 🥺 these still caps aren't doing it justice--the texture-painting on the models is so good that the characters seamlessly blend in with their 2D environments when screencapped lol definitely want to return to this one, if only for the visuals

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Feather

watch out, we got another game-sized Bird Alert comin thru!

so the first thing i notice is that this game does an awkward interrupty thing where it rewinds u a few secs every time you crash and i was crashing a lot but i actually started getting the hang of the flight controls eventually and am enjoying chillin as marahute from the rescuers down under

i'm not really sure what you're supposed to do here, but i think that's the point? it's about chillin

i did notice that there are different bird skins, if the store page screencaps are to be believed;;;; i will need to obtain those;;;;;;;;;;

might be common knowledge, but a li'l PSA just in case: if u've ever gone to download an itch.io game from some massive bundle, only to discover that the "file is not available on site" try via the itch.io app i've had several unavailables reappear through this (i've still had a few cases where the game truly seems to be no longer available in any way shape or form--but since they're from charity bundles, i don't feel comfy bugging the devs about it;; )
