Super Sexy English
After moving to Korea to teach, I have learned that pretty much everything in English is sexual if you make even the smallest mistake. I cut off the dialogue for brevity but please know I did explain to the students why we can’t say it and what the alternatives are to get their meaning across.
Student: “My cousin came over and she stayed here."  Me: "All night?” Student: “Yes.” Me: “So we call that a ‘sleepover’ in English.” Student: “Ah! Okay, yes we slept together.” Me: “….yeah no you can’t say THAT…"
Students know that showing your middle finger is a bad gesture in many Western countries, and they equate it to “fuck”. Not “fuck you”, just “fuck”. They also know it’s okay to say these words in my class because I want them to know how to use them correctly, so they freely say these words in the class.
Student: “Teacher, he’s fucking me.” Me: “Excuse me?” The student pointed to another student across the table, then looked back at me and pointed at his middle finger. Me: “OH.”
Me: “Hey, did you want to stay here and eat? We could order food or I could make something. Or we can go out to eat? It’s up to you.” Korean Friend: “Let’s eat out together!” Me: “So about that phrasing…”
Feel free to add your own for any language :3

Lady, we HAVE a voice. It’s just that no one wants to hear it unless it is filtered through some civilian’s academic, upper-middle class, titillating-under-the-guise-of-educating lens.
