Deepavali celebration in Singapore!!!
Every year, the people behind Little India's Deepavali celebrations challenge themselves to create a display even better than the one before.
The question this time was: How to top the peacocks that wowed everyone last year? The answer, apparently, was to bring on the elephants, for the biggest-ever light-up.
The Little India Shopkeepers and Heritage Association (Lisha) chairman, Mr Rajakumar Chandra, "We had not done something with elephants for years, committee behind the light-up wanted decorations that matched the scale and beauty of the peacocks that stood at the entrance to Serangoon Road for last year's Deepavali."
And elephants, so deeply intertwined with Indian culture and royalty, were the perfect choice.

Breezy Memories From Kashmir!!
Tumblr media
Unless until you taste Malai Chom Chom(Bengali sweet)  you won’t feel the soul of your taste buds!!. Similarly if you haven’t visited Kashmir, you haven’t feel the dance of your soul.
Before Reaching Kashmir lots of questions running like a mouse in my mind. First thing which show up will be the terrorism & security of yourself and family, second might be the people nature third might be the local cuisine. I can assure you Kashmir has got everything in    your favor. I’m saying so because I have traveled Kashmir for a month but to be honest you will realize it in day one or two itself. Terrorism, it is a subject between two countries it is a different and a vast subject, we/I don’t want to indulge in it unless until it is required. But one point which i would like to mention here as per the local peoples explanation media is exposing or forced to expose only the portion which is in favor of Indian army”. With this one point will slip to experience in Kashmir.
One of my friend an Kashmiri mentioned these term “We harvest love We harvest Piece in Kashmir” it will be remembered by me for a long long time. Another friend mentioned that the local people won’t try to steal your money/belonging instead they will make you to give your money/belongings to them by more polite and soothing way. Both the terms are correct, People are so helpful until you are satisfied or until  you get what you need. One fine example I would like to share here an incident happend to me in Aru valley, Pahalgam. Physically I was not feeling good on that day and along with my friend I stayed in a tent that too in up hill. I came down to get medicine by 0830 Pm, my bad luck pharmacy shop was closed by the time not only pharmacy all shops were closed by the time except one. Few people were around there I asked them for alternate solution. Immediately a person name Meharaj came to me and said don’t worry, the pharmacy person will handover key to local person I will get it for you, I also accompanied him. We were searching for the pharmacy shop key from different house believe me the time was flying and I din’t noticed that it has reached 0930 Pm. Finally Meharaj said, sorry bro I couldn’t find the key. He didn’t left from there, he said that I will get you natural therapy if you are ok. I don’t want to give him too much hard time so I bid adios from him at that time. The next morning when we reached downhill he spot and came towards me and inquired about my wellness, this entire experience was so strange to me. Another experience which happened in Srinagar, I was staying in Gurudwara and i was told that the gate will be closed by 0800 Pm. I went out to have my dinner, but my bad luck the restaurant person delayed for a long time to serve my food. It was almost 0800 Pm, another person who is staying in the Gurudwara mentioned that “Beta aaram se kawoo, fikarmath” he sat next to me after he finished his dinner and he was waiting for my food to be served and he was inquiring the restaurant person to serve me food asap. But due to other reason I couldn’t able to have food there that’s secondary. But the unknown person whom I just meet came to me and said “Beta thu dhusra restaurant jawo kawoo our thu sho jawo” it was also so strange. I believe you are getting my point. There is one more incident which my friends faced but I don’t want to drag you too much. My conclusion about the people in Kashmir are so humble and polite with the tourist(Please note the word tourist).
Cuisine have a new face here at Kashmir, they have named it as Kashmiri Wazwan. Umma to Wazwan dishes. you have to taste it there are 7 different dishes each will make you mouth watering. But for your kind info Wazwan is only for non-veg person. That to non-veg people who doesn’t take beef please be specific and tell them upfront to serve mutton Wazwan dishes . I have tasted four dishes out of 7 which are named as Rista, Yakh nee, Kabab, Rogan josh. My favorite dish was Yakh nee which was made with buttermilk and in that they keep the meet balls which are so soft and spicy. If you want to taste the actual taste of Wazwan please try it in village in and near Kashmir. Because, Wazwan was not tasty in commercialized places like Srinagar & Sonmarg, it tasted good in Pahalgam (not commercialized). Apart from Wazwan you can taste Punjabi, Jain, South Indian food in almost all restaurants. But, I would recommend to taste the local food which are delicious. Adding one more point to it please do not try biriyani in Kashmir(personal suggestion).
Security will be every once preference when you are travelling new place, Kashmir isn’t letting you down in that part. one of my friend was travelling to Pahalgam from Srinagar/Jammu I’m not sure but she reached here place midnight 12 noon. No one teased her no one harassed her adding more my friends in Kashmir said that you can roam around in Kashmir without any fear unless you can bare the horrible climate during night time. Gandhi’s dream about free India is unless until a women can wander alone with out any disturbance is real freedom is safely protected in Kashmir more than any other state of India. Girls are also going to college in Kashmir, schools are available for every one. I meet kids in mountains going to school, it was a good sight to see. I don’t know the ration were education is provided there but being a strict Islamic following state women's are allowed to study.
I don’t want to give you more details about sightseeing place and now I didn’t prefer to give more preference to that subject. It not because I’m trying to avoid, it is because Kashmir doesn't have words to explain sorry express it’s beauty. I’m out of words to describe her beauty, if I have to explain in a poet style she was like an “Apsaras” or “Goddess” or “Angel” or whatever words you get to describe beauty you can coin it and still you will be running out of stock. Where ever you go she will attract you in first sight she is a magical spirit. She can melt your heart. She can take you to sixth dimension. She is one in the world whom you have to visit and you must visit.
I prefer to visit her and get myself lost again and again and again and again and again.......
