          Joseph had felt so confident. New hair, new suit, new name. He thought he had looked great. But after the initial shock and awe, nothing. He had made his way up to several of the women and not even one had wanted anything to do with him. Some had even laughed at him. Everyone knew him as a girl. As Cordelia. Cordie. No woman would ever want another perceived woman as a suitor. Especially not one who was crying outside of a ball.

          When he felt the humiliation building up and beginning to spill out of him, he made a dash towards the closest door that led out and away. He quickly shut the door behind him and pressed his back against the wall, sliding down it and beginning to sob, clutching at his tight, painful chest. He quickly scrambled to his feet though when he heard someone opening the door and coming outside. “I’m not crying!” he said defensively before the other person could speak. “I’m... I’m sick. Ill. Yes... I... I don’t feel well. ”

          Eloise had always been someone that Joseph... saw himself in. She wasn’t like all of the other girls and it was... refreshing. It made him feel seen.
