Career Intentions
My intention for my career over the next 12 months is to be an individual who continuously makes an impact in her community.  I aspire to work in communications being involved in all aspects of storytelling for the greater good. My mastery is in public relations because I have always admired seeing how people amplify the images of their clients. Sometimes it can seem as if PR professionals only come in to clean up the images when their client is not pleasing to the public eye. However, I want to shift this narrative and play a role in shaping that companies and individuals care about their communities. This is why I am so focused on storytelling, because the way communication is distributed in society makes a difference on reactions from others. Storytelling is a necessary part of being human and community building. We can use stories to present information in a way that inspires an emotional reaction. They help us understand the topic and each other, and they make the knowledge memorable. It can also help us remember important information that will guide our future actions. For example, causing us to consider circumstances we would never have considered, such as learning from others about how they handle life after college. While we may not have had the same experiences, we do have similarities with our thoughts. We have a deeper understanding of other people's lives since stories allow us to relate and initiate a conversation about topics that are often disregarded. This not only allows us to better comprehend their lives, but also to apply what they've learned to our own. Throughout my career I want to share the untold stories of phenomenal human beings while creating partnerships in the community. Such as starting a nonprofit that assists highschool students with preparing for college.
