Hypnotised protectors hold a special place in my heart. By “hypnotised protector” I mean someone that originally was trying to prevent the spread of a hypnotic influence that eventually gets corrupted by the very thing they were fighting against. Like someone trying to warn others about a hypnotic email chain eventually getting tricked into opening it and spreading it to all the people that trusted them, or a spy getting caught by a hypnotic agency that they were gathering intel on and returning to home base as a mindless pet. The corruption of a strong willed leader causing all those under their protection to become just as mindless as all the others is unfathomably hot.
