basically my opinion on many many things is “you should be allowed to do that and i should be allowed to be uncomfortable with it and the government and law should not be involved in this whatsoever”

no you don't understand, I can't get out of bed until I've scrolled through Tumblr down to where I left off last night... what if a beloved mutual has a zero note vent post and needs me to swoop in with the like button?? or there is a 120k note gif of wolfs sniffing? it' s a very big responsibility

the thing about the mummy movies is that you really spend most of the time thinking "wow brendan fraser's character is so cool" or "man oded fehr is so mysterious and heroic" when the fact of the matter is that these two
Tumblr media
are the absolute most batshit insane heroes in the entire franchise
these two are intellectual loner siblings with archeology backgrounds who read and speak ancient egyptian, hire a dude directly out of prison to take them to a lost city of gold, and fight mummies literally with their bare hands. twice.
no one in these movies stands a chance against the carnahans. frankly they're lethal in how willing they are to make the absolute and most undeniably deranged decisions. jonathan pickpockets a dude on fire. evy's resurrected from the dead and immediately remembers how to use sai. they're racking shotguns from a cliff in this scene and then proceed to blow away half the antagonists.
rick and ardeth should be so lucky

this has been said before but whatever. i am never going to be done thinking about how hamlet’s vision of his father was just never aligned with reality. im thinking of how the whole story is about his absence and how hamlet's father was far away fighting the battle with fortinbras when hamlet was born, only to have his efforts be ultimately for nothing and his kingdom later fall to them anyway. im thinking about how he leaves it to his son to handle the chaos that spirals from his battles. how hamlet raves about how wonderful and good his father was and compares him to hercules and hyperion but when his father appears to him like three scenes later he tells him he's "confined to fast in fires / Till the foul crimes done in my days of nature / Are burnt and purged away" in a place so harrowing that he will not even describe it to hamlet. this father facing the consequences for horrible deeds was never the father hamlet knew.
like the horror of hamlet not being that my father is dead and yet here is his spirit and he's calling me to revenge. but the horror being that my vision of my father is shattered. the father hamlet knew was never his father, and now hamlet is forced to act as his hand of vengeance in a series of events that will destroy him and his entire family
