Fiction only has effect in real life if you are stupid enough to not differentiate between fiction and reality.

If a fictional ship makes someone commit and act of abuse … 

The problem is with the person not with the story.

Fiction doesn’t affect reality.

Anecdotal evidence is not “scientific evidence.”

Anecdotal evidence is “because person X raped people after reading rape fiction, it means that fiction affects reality.”

No it means that fiction affected person X. 

I would never date a teenager just because I used to enjoy Snamione and Snarry. (I enjoyed the kind where they were still students, but old enough to consent, and Snape was still their teacher.) 

On another note, I don’t enjoy it anymore, because I’ve moved onto more interesting ship dynamics. 

What a person enjoys in fiction is not necessarily a reflection of their real life view.
