Heard this stupid dad joke that killed me: Which Chinese word takes the longest to write? "Friend" (朋友) because it takes two months just to write half of it

Vote based on the publication year of the physical copy that you own, not the book's first edition.
Publication/print dates can usually be found in the first 2–3 pages of a book, where title and/or copyright information is printed. If you own an old book that does not have a publication date printed on it, make your best estimate.
We ask your questions anonymously so you don’t have to! Submissions are open on the 1st and 15th of the month.

Hi! I just found out through a deep dive through your tags that David Tennant and Catherine Tate did a Much Ado? Is it worth watching? And do you know where I can watch it?
Oh yeah they did! It’s my favorite production of that play even though it is set in the 1980s and I usually find modern set Shakespeare annoying— but this production was great in that it had a very clever focus on post-sexual Revolution double standards about sex, and did a great job about pointing out that the fragile masculinity in certain English men has not much changed in several hundred years. It was just far back enough in the past that it didn’t feel on the nose about it.
I think it’s also the only casting of Benedict and Beatrice that feels really well balanced, in that you super enjoy watching them and would probably love to grab a drink with them, but you could also tell that they are just disaster people who could really only live long term with each other. They are noble and horrible and very loyal to their friends and the pettiest people on earth. I also think that because Beatrice is such a good role, it’s very easy for a great actress who doesn’t otherwise get a lot of classical rep to dig her teeth into to completely overpower a Benedict cast opposite her. And by the end you’re kind of like “jeez why did such an amazing awesome woman I love end up with this jackass?”
But Tennant’s energy is so weird and the rapport I think established between Tate and Tennant from Doctor Who gave them an amazing grounding friendship, that sense of Beatrice being too good for Benedict doesn’t happen. They are not just comfortable with each other, they’re familiar with how the other will act when directed in an over the top zany style of comedy mixed with sudden emotional moments, and know how to bounce off each other in a way that feels like they’re just egging the other on. At the end I was like, “aw these two lovable jackasses are perfect for each other.”
I will try and dig up the link!
ETA: also forgot how seriously Tennant’s Benedict takes Claudio’s accusation. Masterful. He doesn’t want to believe it but because of what Beatrice says and how she lays it out he believes her and is never as close to Claudio again. He has realized Claudio is not a good person and will never trust him the same way again. I got the impression that if Claudio fucked up again that badly, Benedict would literally kill him.

eleanor shellstrop one of the protagonists of all time honestly. woman who sucks so much who gets put in a situation specifically made to make her worse and instead she gets better. filled with love for other people but replaced it with malice for as long as she could because love got her nothing. went from being selfish for survival to selfless for survival and in the end she lands on being selfless for selflessness's sake. she even has mommy issues. she's even bisexual.

beavers have the lifestyle that most children dream of. dig and travel through underwater canals. dam a river and flood the local woodlands. stomp mud into dam to seal. swim to flooded trees and destroy them. live in a secret hideout with a underwater entrance. full ownership over an engineering project
#science world child sized beaver dam my beloved#i would sit in there for hours just pretending to be a beaver#also the hollowed out tree that was like a little home#10/10#mood
