So many male characters in warrior cats just. Blatantly hate women.

Crowfeather and Bramblestar are blatant examples, both having little regard for their wives and daughters, but can we talk about how many male characters hold resentment for their mothers...?

Tigerheart blatantly dismisses his mother all the time, even though she's a proven senior warrior, his former deputy, was considered to lead ShadowClan, and is extremely capable!

As much as we love Jayfeather, he also resents both of his mothers to the point of recognizing signs of abuse in both of them and... not caring. He dismisses both a starclan chosen medicine cat and an incredible senior warrior. At least he eventually works past this, somewhat...

Don't get me started on Nightheart. He needs a separate post. But even characters like Tallstar resents his mother, although his reasons are more valid? I guess? Tree too, but his resentment never leaves as long as his mother lives.

God knows we'll have Starlingpaw soon and I know he's going to resent Needleclaw with all he has because his dad is gone.

Acknowledging Lizardstripe as an outlier, as the text states she became a mother against her will, was forced into taking in Brokenkit, and clearly never wanted children, but the writers decided these traits made her horrible and irredeemable: 👍

notice how he doesn't refer to deadfoot as "my father" but simply as "our old deputy." you would think that someone like crowpaw would use his father being an important figure to his advantage but he doesn't. almost like it wasn't canon when they wrote this and you can't seriously attribute that to him acting the way he does in this book or something

Honestly, my current favorite idea for the Windclan coup attempt by Mudclaw in my rewrite, is that it would have almost certainly worked if it wasn't for plain opportunism.

Like, Mudclaw's followers were loyal to him, he was a spry aggressive deputy to contrast Tallstar's more passive nature, and that earned him plenty of loyalty, particularly when he was fighting against Shadowclan tooth and claw when Windclan was getting expelled.

So by all right, the announcement that Tall changed his mind last second and made Onewhisker deputy (which was his own decision here, not Starclan's) in private and corroborated by only the Thunderclan leader, a coup should have been a cakewalk for Mud.

Walk into the leaders den, make Onewhisker say that he lied, and reclaim leadership. No one actually thinks fucking Onewhisker would be a good leader, so very limited opposition. Hell, Mud may not have even been planning on killing One, just chase him off the territory.

The only problem was, Onewhisker was related to quite a few cats. And those relatives realized that they were now not only related to the leader, but it was timid, yes-man, 'does what you say if you say it firm enough' Onewhisker. So when Mud goes and tries to question the story and intimidate One, he finds voices of opposition, Cats going to Onestar's defense, much firmer ones.

Basically, Mudclaw was defeated by the power of opportunism and promises of Cronyism/nepotism.

And also Thunderclan, no way in hell was Fire going to let this much of an opportunity just slip by.

Suffice to say, that imposter syndrome was hitting Onestar hard due to knowing just how he lived past that night.

ivypool is the most underrated victim of wc fandom misogyny. bc even the ppl who love to talk abt the way fandom treats female characters wont discuss it bc she isnt a Good victim.

leafpool gets propped up a lot for conversation abt fandom misogyny bc shes Easy to talk abt. she gets everything thrown at her and internalizes it instead of externalizing it so shes easier to sympathize with.

ivypool is emotionally and physically abused from childhood into her adulthood bc shes forced to stay training in the dark forest. shes also forced to Kill people. one of these people is an already dead antpelt who is gone forever. and even then ppl were giving her shit for not giving the kindest response about her daughter meeting the same fate to dovewing.

like i cannot grasp the “leafpool should be allowed to kill people” shit when its coming from the same ppl who didnt like ivypool snapping at dovewing over rowankit and bristlefrost. like yeah i wonder why her Erased From Reality daughter might be a topic she cant exactly repress all her emotions on.

ivypool is expected to be a good victim from the fandom for some reason but breezepelt can do whatever he wants and thats notttt a coincidence.
