Left our friends Grants Pass home early for an appointment at Hendersons. They checked all the gear they have installed and gave us a green light to head to Alaska. Back on the road by 9am heading to Salem.
Rain the whole way but not too strong. Got to Salem before 1pm at our friends house.
After setting up we did some shopping before enjoying dinner with our friends.
Busy busy day. Up at 5am and pulled out of Folsom Lake at 6:30. At Tiffin service in Jackson before 8am. They installed the Girard door awning. Looks great and will cover more of the door.
Then D had her dentist appointment and I drove to Cameron Park to hang out for the afternoon. At 4 I drove the coach to Folsom at a pre-scouted street near the dentist. D finished just before 6pm and we hooked up the truck and headed north.
Got to Corning and the Rolling hills RV park at the casino at 8:30. Not too impressed. Gravel, narrow sites that are heavily crowned. But 1 night is fine.
Last day in Folsom. Went for a long walk and down to the lake. Something I haven't seen in many years: a manned (actually womened) lifeguard on duty at the lake. Between coming here off season and the lake being low over the years, we haven't seen a lifeguard at the lake in many many years.
Yesterday as we were near the end of our ride, my chain suddenly came off the sprocket and really got stuck. I couldn't get it freed and didn't want to break it. There is a Trek store just down the road so I went there. The guy said he would be able to get it done today, but when I called this afternoon it Still wasn't started. I went there right before closing to just get the bike back. Surprise, he was almost done repairing it!
Tomorrow is a crazy day. Instead of leaving and heading north in the morning we have other important items. Leave at 6:30am and head back to Jackson to get our door awning installed. Then back to Folsom for D to get 2 crowns at 2pm. I will find a place to hang out with the RV while D gets drilled.
We hope to get on the road by 5 or 6 and make it to Corning before 9pm. Cross fingers!
Having Cataract surgery this fall. When I talked with the scheduler a couple months ago, she said I would need a measurement appointment before surgery. I told her we travel and would be in Alaska all summer. We found an appointment this week for measurement and I would be contacted later in the summer for a surgery date.
This morning I went in for my measurement and the first question she asked me is what day in June I could come in for a consultation with the surgeon! I told her we were leaving for Alaska next week and would not be back until late September. She was very nice and was trying to find a surgeon that could squeeze me in today. Suddenly a person popped in to say that a patient had just canceled and I could take that appointment. Lucky day. So now set for my surgery when I get the call.
After my appointments, we headed to one of our favorite places, Roundhouse Deli in Roseville. Smoked tri tip tacos 🌮 while watching trains....what could be better. Right before we left the California Zephyr went by on its way to Reno.
In the afternoon, we took Brooklyn back to the lake. She doesn't grab the sticks we throw (yet) but rather dunks her head in the water.
