|| ♚ || - { Kokichi was ecstatic. He tried to hold his excitement in, but it kept spilling out, even in his lies. He couldn’t stop talking, talking about mindless things and about some of his members (though he’s continuing to be vague about who they truly are). He went on talking on and on until they reached the spot that he wanted to bring him. The Supreme Leader was left silent, in awe of the beauty of the sky.

“ Saihara-chan, there’s one with a funny belt over there-- “

He pointed and turned to look at Saihara, only to be greeted by the detective’s eyes. Saihara was staring at him; the detective wasn’t even spacing out-- he was straight up staring at Kokichi.

|| ♚ || - { “ Saihara-chan...? “

The detective had caught him off guard, his arm lowering as he stared back into his crush’s eyes. He observed the other’s features in the short time their eyes were locked-- his gray eyes and his winged eyeliner catching Kokichi’s attention. Saihara’s face was clear and smooth, devoid of any traces of make-up aside from his wickedly accentuated eyeliner. His lips popped out to him, looking soft and absolutely kissable to the Supreme Ruler. He stood there, in awe as well of Saihara until the other began to speak.

The detective was caught off guard as well once Kokichi called him out, but the comment he made immediately after shocked him the most.

‘The view... It’s nice.’

He did a double take as his cheeks flared up, thinking that Saihara meant him, that the view of Kokichi was nice. But the detective was already looking back at the stars before Kokichi could reply. His eyes were still locked on the detective’s face, who wasn’t even looking back anymore.

|| ♚ || - { “ ...Yeah. The view’s really nice, Saihara-chan. “

Saihara-chan!!:

now he felt a bit disoriented, as if that small moment had a long-lasting effect on him for the days to come. this is the reason why he always wears his hat, and as he thought about it his hand ghosted up to his head, trying to pull it over his face, only to realize it’s not there and he’s grasping at nothing. 

“i… don’t think i’ll be doing something like this for a long time.” though he did have some fun with it, most people just came by to tease him. saihara wrinkled his nose when it was poked by ouma. “…thank you for the offer.” 

|| ♚ || - { “ Turning down such a kind offer from me? Man, Saihara-chan, you’re really bold today! “

He paid attention to when Shuichi tried grasping at his hat, which wasn’t there. A smirk spread across his face, noticing how he was noticeably different without it. His cowlick was something Kokichi found adorable, but his hair was done nicely, despite it being constantly covered by a hat. He expected the other to have some sort of hat hair, but was pleasantly surprised to be told wrong.

|| ♚ || - { “ Must be because you’re not wearing your hat. It’s kind of cute seeing you this bold on a night like this. “

Saihara-chan!!:

once the cloak was moved away, saihara blinked, giving ouma a look of confusion. for a brief moment, he looked ouma directly in the eyes- something he never did for extended periods of time. since the cloak was out of his face, the blush on his face would finally be visible. it hasn’t gone away since he tried putting on this ‘act.’ 

“i…” before he had the chance to respond, the moment was over.

saihara looked away, still wrapping the cloak around himself, but no longer obscuring his face. he took a step back. 

“i know… i don’t really do things like this, so i don’t have much experience.” 

|| ♚ || - { For the quick moment that lasted, Kokichi took the time to analyze the expression that was on his beloved’s face. Though he expected to elicit that sort of response from Shuichi, he didn’t expect it to warm his heart like it just did. A blush creeped on Kokichi’s face, turning away from the other while he wasn’t paying attention.

He shook his head and regained his composure before the other could react.

|| ♚ || - { “ You know, Saihara-chan, I can easily help you with that! “

He poked the other’s nose and gave him another gentle smile, though his tone was sharp like it normally was rather than gentle as it was earlier.

Saihara-chan!!:

“i…. i know.”  he wraps himself in his cloak, embarrassed. 

|| ♚ || - { Kokichi continued staring at the detective, only to begin giggling. However, his giggle lacked any sort of mischievous intent behind it as it normally did. He walked up to Saihara and gently moved the cloak away, giving him a kind smile that most rarely ever see come from Kokichi.

|| ♚ || - { “ I never said that it wasn’t cute though, Saihara-chan. ‘A’ for effort, you know? “

His gentle facade only lasted for about five seconds, instantly masked by his usual act.

|| ♚ || - { “ You need to work on your acting though. It sucks and you did put in effort, but it can be improved. A lot. Really. It was that bad. “

Saihara-chan!!:

his expression falters, a twitch in his eyebrow and a frown on his face- though it’s still hidden by his extravagant pose. the detective lets out another chuckle- layered with a small cough. he’s trying his best, but he’s just far too awkward. “i have been a hunter for-… hundreds of years.” he can solve almost any case in front of him, but his improv was mediocre at best. 

the costume he was wearing wasn’t too fancy- he sported a long and elegant cape, a skinny red silk tie, and a pair of very realistic looking fangs. it was obvious that he simply used his uniform’s pants, as they were striped, but he wasn’t wearing his jacket. or his hat. 

“it’s easy to see that… that a royal like yourself would never walk out in the open by yourself.” the fact that he was still going along with this was. incredible, really. 

|| ♚ || - { “ ... “

Kokichi’s expression fell completely flat. He stared at Saihara, completely silent from the detective’s poor acting.

“ Saihara-chan. You suck at this. “

Saihara-chan!!:

“ahahaha…” his cackle sounded mischevious, but also strained. “i… i am an ever-elusive vampire.” saihara raised his arm, draping his cloak over his face,  hiding it from view. (both for dramatic effect, and because of the fact that he’s embarrassed making this kind of scene.) “and i am very hungry…. and i require blood.” 

|| ♚ || - { “ How feisty, Saihara-chan. “

Kokichi stood tall (or... as tall as the boots he wore could make him) in front of Shuichi, dressed in royal garb. He dressed as the ruler he claimed to be, donning a purple cape fluttering behind him, a crown on top of his head, a black suit, and a scepter in his hands with a purple orb inside it.

|| ♚ || - { “ A shame that someone with royal blood such as I am so... vulnerable... right now! I don’t have anything to protect me from a demon like a vampire. “

He found Shuichi’s get-up to be really cute, but his mannerisms childish. He considered making fun of him, but for now, he would just play along.

Saihara-chan!!:

with how often ouma has tried to break into saihara’s room, and how often he asked the other to sleep in the same bed with him, he should’ve expected an idea like this one.

“no.” if ouma’s done one thing, it’s get saihara to be more direct. “there’s plenty of other places we could go…”

|| ♚ || - { He stopped, taken somewhat aback by Saihara’s lack-of-being-a-totally-meek-loser. His heart was racing-- It was such a simple “no”, but something about it was something he found not only extremely attractive, but also felt a sort of proud-ness for helping Saihara to stop being a meek loser. Or at least he believes that he’s helped the detective become more direct.

But, of course, Kokichi was going to continue keeping him on his toes.

|| ♚ || - { “ Wow, Saihara-chan. Now that I’m giving a super duper surprising option for a date, only now do you choose to be so direct with me? “

He exhaled dramatically and rolled his eyes.

“ If a boring date is what Saihara-chan wants, then it’s what he’s gonna get! I did plan a back-up date, so it’s not like I didn’t come prepared. “

|| ♚ || - { “ We’re gonna go for a stroll in the park at night! Under the stars and everything! Then I’m gonna rub it in Momota-chan’s face that I had a romantic evening under the stars-- something he’ll never get! “

His expression became stern.

|| ♚ || - { “ Have you seen that goatee? “

Saihara-chan!!:

saihara did say he could ask, so he can’t exactly turn ouma down. he tilts his head a bit to the side, defeated.

“yeah… that’s fine. what did you want to do?”

|| ♚ || - { “ Mmm... “

He stood, deep in thought. What did he want to do? This was a spur of the moment decision by Kokichi himself. He considered a simple walk around a nearby park, playing video games with him, dinner dates... But they were all too... Boring.

|| ♚ || - { “ A lil’ more surprise is necessary to spice this date up! How about... “

|| ♚ || - { “ A night together at Hotel Kumasutra? Huh? Huh? How’s that? I think it’s great! “

Saihara-chan!!:

“hating you and not wanting to go on a date with you are two completely different things…!” now his frown worsened, and he sighed, scratching at his head.

“if you wanted to do something, it would’ve probably been a better idea to ask first… or make some sort of plan.” 

|| ♚ || - { “ Okay! Then I’m planning tomorrow! Whenever you’re free! “

He bounced on his feet childishly and excitedly.

|| ♚ || - { “ Is that fine? Is that fine? Huuuuuh? “

“i don’t want to go on a date.” does ouma always have to push romantic stuff like this?

he’s actually been pretty productive today! this might actually be the most interactive he’s been all week, so he frowns at the other’s remark.

Ouma actually didn’t have any plans whatsoever and legitimately said to himself “Man, I sure do wanna look cute today!”. He just happened to see Saihara by pure coincidence.

The last word that exited Ouma’s lips were incredibly sharp.

That just meant Ouma was going to teach Kaede how to maneuver the ventilation system in the housing building.

random headcanon i guess that’s technically also half canon

ouma lies for a reason; his lies usually have a good natured intent behind them, though his methods are incredibly underhanded and mischievous, leading for many to be wary of him. when he pursues a single person with a barrage of false statements, he’s merely getting them to spill the truth; he hates people who lie to their friends about who they are, even though he himself does that on a daily basis

to expand on that, actually, straight from his canon ouma tells so many lies that even he himself doesn’t know when he’s lying at times, though it’s implied that he’s also lying about that as well. these lies can also take the form of incredibly vague and sarcastic statements, as he believes that it leads to more success if people can figure out situations on their own, even if they get lots of prodding
