It's the 9th anniversary of How to be a Werewolf! I can't believe my little webcomic is still going after all these years! It was my dream as a kid to make comics. HTBAW started as a weird little idea when I wanted to know what the day-to-day lives of normal people would be like if they happened to be werewolves, and now I've drawn over 850 pages of Malaya and her pack trying to navigate life and romance and disappointment and bureaucracy and adulthood. It's been a very cool ride and I'm grateful to everyone who's read it over the years!

My favorite thing about this comic is how much "human" it feels, in the expressions and conversations. Amongst all the slice of life feels and comedy in Pia's social awkwardness, there's also a lot of grief and distress that's explored in all of the characters' inner struggles. It's a nice unfiltered lens into the various perspectives of each character, that doesn't always needs words to be conveyed.

The end of chapter 5 was also very sweet, seeing Olivia react to her nickname "Royal Bitch," and deciding to make an effort to change that, while also seeing Pia respond back to it as well. It was also funny seeing Olivia appear in Go Get A Roomie's epilogue(?) chapter. Very excited to see how much more will connect between the two "universes"

Rereading Pia and the Tiny Little Things by Clover! I was first enamored by the art style and gives me inspiration to attempt making comics traditionally. I also read Go Get a Roomie by Clover as well a few months ago and it was a wild ride. A great read thats just as thoughtful as it is sex positive lmao, and it's really cool seeing how the art style eventually evolves into what we see now with Pia and the Tiny Little things.

I always thought back a lot on Emile's first introduction and how strikingly different it is to what we see of him after. The whiplash you get of your first introduction of a character being the exact opposite of how they usually act is honestly pretty great haha

Rereading Pia and the Tiny Little Things by Clover! I was first enamored by the art style and gives me inspiration to attempt making comics traditionally. I also read Go Get a Roomie by Clover as well a few months ago and it was a wild ride. Rereading Pia and the Tiny Little Things by Clover! I was first enamored by the art style and gives me inspiration to attempt making comics traditionally. There are also a lot of tidbits on different insects in every chapter that are wonderfully drawn. I also read Go Get a Roomie by Clover as well a few months ago and it was a wild ride. Ch6Pg7: Cecilia is such a bad ass. The skeleton hand is such a simple yet effective trait that adds so much mystery to her vibe. Ofc the general reason is shown in the prequel comic, "Girl with the Skeleton Hand," but her role and intentions in the story has been vague so far, its very compelling

Side-stories Harper Pg3: First of all, the side stories on Cerberus are all fantastic, but Harper's is an absolute hoot and must read. First gay character on screen too

Also the comic is drawn by Gigi D.G. the artist of Cucumber Quest, one of my favorites!

Ch4Pg25 & Ch5Pg12: First of all amazing abstract representations of Leeds. I'm not smart enough to unpack what all of this entails, but the abstractions foreshadow dream!Leeds or well his past really. The dissection lines on the first Leeds are a neat and creepy touch that implies the means that were used to create him.

And the 2nd Leeds is similar to the grecian art style found on pots, implying the minotaur aspect to his design (and also the greek mythology theming? with Percy and Cerberus). And then the knives are pretty similar to the hash marks that appear for anxious Leeds

Ch2P28-29: I always loved this interaction between the two. The progression from flustered "do not talk to me" percy to genuinely softened percy is so sweet.

Ch1P18: The little hash marks that appear whenever leeds is nervous are very cute lol. But they're also simple and effective in how they stand out and can make a composition more tense, especially in the more dramatic scenes following after.

Ch1P6: Coolest thing about the comic I thought was how Percy uses magic via making patterns with strings, mostly in cats cradle fashion.

Really like how in this panel it's styled similar to using your hand as a rubber band gun, kinda fitting the "playground game" aesthetic theme of Percy's magic
