COOKING IS FUN! 3T2 TRAITS MOD - PLUS OPTIONS FOR NON TRAITS USERS
Hello Sims 2 - aholics!
This is a 3t2 traits mod. Place it in your downloads folder and remove Fway_FoodPrepSkillGainForTraits because I incorporated this mod
If you don't use traits, then select the other option to add to your downloads: ys2g_cookingisfun_cuisinehobby
I saw @sims2idea-lientebollemeis2i post on MTS from a while back about a mod that makes cooking fun and it went unanswered. Here ya go!
For non trait users, this should raise a Sim's fun while prepping AND cooking food if their "Predestined Hobby" is cuisine, hence the mod's name.
For trait users, Sims will gain fun from prepping AND cooking food if they have the Natural Cook trait. You will also have the effect of Natural Cooks having higher skill gain rate from Fway's original traits mod for cooking and prepping food!
Requirements:
-Surprisingly, you don't need Easy Inventory Check ... but still get it if you want to play with traits!
You need the trait Natural Cook for trait version and Freetime for non trait version
I made this mod with Ultimate Collection.
Conflicts
-I incorporated Fway's traits mod "Food Prep Skill for Traits" at this link: https://fwaysims.tumblr.com/post/710985440433487872/food-prep-skill-modifiers-for-traits
So delete that mod if you are a trait user and replace it with mine! You will get Fway's and my effects.

Okay, I compared the Graphics Rules.sgr and Video Cards.sgr with the Ultimate Collection
They did EXACTLY what my brother has been saying for months but people have been debating him over it and didn't want to believe him
The new video cards.sgr doesn't include ANY new graphics cards. Wanna know why? Because the game doesn't fucking care. He has been saying for months that it doesn't care and that adding it via GRM doesn't do anything, it can actually potentially make it worse.
What they DID do is take out all the hacky stuff in the Graphics Rules.sgr to prevent the game from turning on and off certain settings depending on your hardware and software config. That's what I did as well, months ago, because he said it is the smarter solution.

it's finally here! in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the sims series, i present my big, dumb labor of love.
"i really love the sims" is a 64-page love letter to the sims franchise, spanning all 4 mainline titles as well as a collection of my favorite sims spin-off games.
topics covered in the game include:

the digital version of this zine is free/pwyw! part of what makes the sims series so special is the massive amount of work made available for free by passionate modders and custom content creators. from new hairstyles and clothing to entire gameplay expansions and custom software, their generosity has been foundational in fostering the creative community that surrounds these games and it's what has inspired me to release the full zine online for free. i spent dozens of hours writing, editing, and designing this zine, but it's nothing compared to the thousands of hours i've spent downloading custom content for the sims.
physical copies of the zine are also available for purchase! they've been gorgeously printed in black-and-white by a local printer and make a lovely, tangible token of affection for the series. the physical version of the zine is $10 and ships to anywhere in the united states (because i don't know how to ship/price for outside the US and i'm scared)

What is my Uberhood Project?
I am planning on making an uberhood project that connects (and corrects*) all of the lore of the sims 1, 2, 3, and 4 into one downloadable neighborhood save (for the sims 2!!)
What does that actually mean?
I want all of the families to have accurate and realistic (within reason), memories, friends, enemies, family heirlooms, and town relics.
In order to do this, I am going to be completely recreating all the families and their family trees and begin by making their first ancestors in sims 2 bodyshop with canonically accurate genetics * and then personally "playing" through generations, making sure the right families are introduced at the right generation and all the sims are born in game with genetically correct appearances.
Why bother?
My original desire was just to begin playing a new rotational generational playthrough, but starting a decade "early" version and noticing that the currently available early megahoods I could find would have families who had no or missing ancestors, childhood memories or photos in the family album. This is completely fair to the creators of any of those megahoods, it's a lot, but the more I originally tried to just change, the more I wanted to change and ultimately decided it would be easier to just make my own.
When you play the Goth family, it would be Mortimer, Cassandra, etc but they would have full family trees, they would have proper graves in their back yard, photos in their albums, paintings on the wall that Victor Goth painted while he was alive and deco created by Lady RavenDancer Goth (these are random examples)
What are canonically accurate genetics?
Some ancestors that the premades from the actual sims 2 come with canon genetics as cited on websites like simswiki. HOWEVER, that is only for ancestors of premades that are in Sims 2, specifically as well as there being lore and timeline discrepancies between the games.
Certain families, specifically from Sims 1, are only 1 or 2 generations and, therefore, may be added or expanded on, and where ancestors may not have exact descriptions of sims 2 face templates, I intend to look at all the other family members in the sims 2 or what the models look like in the other games and base appearances accordingly.
For Example, in the Sims 1, Victor Goth is not mentioned. In the sims 2, he is a deceased ancestor of the Goth family. In the sims 3, he is still just a deceased ancestor of the playable Goth family BUT, his brother, Samuel Goth, is a playable ghost. This creates a plot hole, if Victor has a brother, he needs parents to properly connect them on the family tree, but no parents are directly connected in the lore, so what do we do?
This is an example of one of my "lore edits," Victor and Samuel Goth need parents, and although there is no canon answer, we can deduct a lore friendly one.
In Sims 3 pets for console, there is a reference to a ghost named Timaeus, who is the oldest known member of the Goth family. He is the captain of the "The Hawthorn" and one of the founders of Sugar Maple Coast, previously known as Gilman Hill. He was said to have married Angela Gilman. This would, however, not explain all of the Goth ancestry, so it can not be the full answer.
Lady RavenDancer Goth is also their ancestor and should also be represented, so again, what do we do?
Here is what I currently came up with. I didn't like how "Consort Capp" didn't have an "birth name" for before he was a consort of Consetta Capp, and in looking into the Capp family, noticed a lot of names referring to royalty and the last name Thebe, but none of them have been reused for connecting them to Princess Cornelia Thebe either. SO, I renamed "Consort" as "Clemente Goth," Gunther Goth's brother, who takes his wife's name, Capp, still. Going back to ancestry, I made Timaeus and Angela Goth have a baby boy named Alexander Goth, who ends up marrying Lady RavenDancer of Thebes, the younger sister of Princess Cordelia. I created parents from Raven and Cordelia named King Kassandros of Thebes and Queen Nymphadora of Verona (these will have been the rulers of the kingdom that Princess Cordelia was originally from when they were fleeing the Great Sloth invasion)
Since Princess Cordelia dated multiple pirates, I was also planning on having her marry Admiral Landgraab and become their ancestor.
What if I don't like these changes?
I do have to connect and change certain things because, due to different game mechanics, the sims timeline does not always all line up on it's own and a real "perfect" lore accurate hood with every family would be too inconsistent (which Landgraab family would you use? etc etc)
HOWEVER, I am going to be doing all of my research and posting everything on here as I go, so if anyone has any feedback before I finish this, I will always be open to discuss and create the best version for the greater community

I was scrolling along, minding my own business when I saw this amazing cabin in @thesimguys TS4 game. I knew I had to have something just like it as a vacation home for Three Lakes, so I did my best to recreate the exterior in TS2! It was fiddly as all hell (mainly to get that pond in and all the columns situated) but in the end it worked! I absolutely love it!
Interior pictures coming shortly, I did the inside totally different than their version. :)

I'm planning to convert more of the accessories and some low poly buy furniture. I cannot convert some furniture like the mirror and the CAS stuff like the clothes, hair and the like.
