I just wanna know as a human genetics major if I’m gonna be struggling if I do a MSc in bioinformatics 😭

dunno what’s gonna happen this year but I hope I figure out what I want to do in the future this year 🫠

it’s tough I always thought I’d just work in a private lab but msc bioinformatics looks promising 😭

But I know I have to do some biostats/data analysis courses this year 😮‍💨🥹 imma see my options tomorrow

MY FIRST JOB INTERVIEW EVER OMGGG ⬇️

This is like so fuckin g funny so I applied on Wednesday and woke up to a fuck ton of missed calls this morning asking about the job and if I’ll be available for a phone interview at 1:30 so I said okay that’s fine but they wanted me to go to their branch (address 1) in my town for the phone interview for better connection 🤷🏽‍♀️ this lady is on the other side of the country btw

Okay so I get to the address this interview lady told me to go and I’m just waiting outside cause the door isn’t opening and no one is there. I’m calling the interview lady and she said that someone will go outside and find me. Still nothing. Then like some other guy whatsapps me and send me his location (address 2) and I must go there and it’s like 5 minutes away and by now it’s like 2pm.

My mom is with me while this whole thing is happening and we’re just like wtffff okay so we get to the place and the lab guy is super nice and so I’m in the lab now (it’s like super small with huggge machines like omg). My mom waits for me to finish outside and now the lab guy starts like touring me around (but not really since it’s like a small room) and goes on about ‘okay so what you’re gonna do is ——’. And I’m like okay so is he gonna make me do lab stuff or?? Then I start the phone interview with the lady and asks me about transportation and night shift and leave days whatever like literally 2 minutes long.

So now I’m done and this lab guy is explaining to me more things that I have to do and I ask, ‘so has anyone else come by for interviews or?’ he said no and that the phone lady said that I’m all good to go

He said that they want me to start working today and I was just like ‘huh???? I got the job????’ And the other guy in the room laughs 🧍🏽‍♀️ like what’s happening lol

And so umm the lab guy said I should come back tomorrow and now I’m at home

I told my mom what happened and we’re just fucking laughing cause what???? And I told my dad and he’s saying I should just do it for experience and then leave when I get a MSc or internship 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️

Like I’ve had 4 people call me today I’m still a bit flustered

But I’m gonna wait for the interview lady to call me back because she hasn’t told me anything about my application and if I actually got it but the lab guy said I could start working 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️

feeling to many things I’m finishing my honors degree

the last week was so so busy but so good I’m so fucking awful at social events and speaking but I’m happy I went to my departments events last week they were enjoyable 🥺

didn’t become close friends with anyone but that’s fine 🥹 I just want to keep seeing the friends I made during my undergrad and in high school for the upcoming break since I never ever saw them this year 😔

deffo not getting a first but that’s okay lol my project was so traumatising I never want to hear anything about cm again 😩
