for three years, i allowed you to control me. i allowed you to defile me, violate me, take away my dignity, all because i didn't see the worth in myself. i allowed you to convince me that i wasn't worth being anything more than a friend with benefits, that being the side hoe was not a degrading position. i gave you power, and you abused it every time you came running back to me after i escaped. i allowed you to return to my life, with your lies laced with promises of change, promises that you were not the person you used to be. you used me because i allowed you to. but i have grown. i found people who loved me despite this piece of my past. i found a way to let go of the guilt, the pain, the shame. i have come out of it as a stronger person, someone who is able to see her actual beauty as something far more than just the curves of my body. i have become someone who i wish i knew when i was your toy, because maybe then i would have escaped sooner. i am proud of the person i have become, and my worth will never be diminished by you again.
