Eyesight Is Overrated When You Immerse Yourself In Your DR

Every time someone says they cannot visualize being in their DR, guess what the problem boils down to? “I can’t see clearly”, “It’s too blurry”, “The images won’t stay still.” Yeah, no shit buttercup. It’s because most people treat visualizing and immersing themselves in their DR like it’s a movie they are supposed to watch, not like an experience they are supposed to feel. We’re too obsessed with seeing. Maybe because we heavily rely on seeing as proof for most things. Sad newsflash: your eyes are one of the easiest senses to fool. Ever heard of optical illusions? Hallucinations? Dreams? You can literally see things that aren’t real all the time. Just because you saw something doesn’t mean it means anything. Now touch? Touch is vastly different from seeing, your skin rarely lies. It’s your biggest organ, and it’s built for direct interaction with the physical world. You can’t accidentally touch what isn’t there. Ever tried finding the bathroom at 3am in pitch black darkness? You can’t see shit, but you sure as hell can feel your way around. You touch the wall, the doorknob, the light switch. That's how you navigate the moment your vision fails. Touching something grounds you, it’s immediate and undeniable. If you are struggling with visualizing, stop stressing over the picture perfect, IMAX quality visuals. We are not here to direct a James Cameron movie. We are here, trying to convince ourselves that we are somewhere else, right? Your brain doesn’t care how pretty something looks, it cares about how real something feels. If you go ahead and imagine touching and really feeling the sheets in your DR bed, running your fingers over a countertop, opening a door and feeling the handle under your hand, suddenly it’s no longer just a daydream. It’s an experience, grounded in a reliable sensory input. When something feels real, your brain doesn’t need to second guess everything, it just starts rolling with it. TL;DR: no, you don’t need to see clearly, you need to stop obsessing over visuals and instead start engaging with other sensations. Take texture, temperature, pressure instead. The weight of your clothes, the ground beneath your feet, your hand holding something solid. It will give your immersion weight and will make it more than just a fleeting daydream.

had a teen wolf dr dream where two nearly identical blue jeeps were parked next to each other. one was more of a baby blue and one was a harsher, slightly darker shade. i was walking with derek to the jeep and i went, "uh... which one is stiles'?" and he pointed at the baby blue one and said, "it's that one."

derek hale, when i first met him, they could not make me form a solid opinion on him. like. did he hate me? did he tolerate me? was i annoying him? was he plotting my murder? was he about to ask me to join his leather jacket crew?? who’s to say.

he was 22 when i met him, 26 now, so he is older than all of us. he has a staring problem. bucky barnes coded. he’s an annoying gym rat, he likes to cook (and is surprisingly good at it), he likes to read, and he’s into classic rock and overall 70s/80s music. when he lived in bh i used to call him whenever something broke because he was the only one who would actually know how to fix it. very chronically offline, i think saying “skibidi toilet” to him would get the same reaction as saying it to a victorian child. or he would just tell me to stfu idk either one really depending on his mood.

he still does the standing of in the corner menacingly thing. the first time he did it to me, i didn’t see him at first and quite literally screamed in his face. he scared me so bad, you don’t understand. it was night. i was just on a walk. what did i do to deserve being jumpscared like that. he’s the kind of person where if he doesn’t like you, he will not like you. but if you’re in? you’re in for life. make sense?

after finding out what i am, i think he gained this odd, lowkey respect for me 😭. i mean. probably considering what i can do. when everyone was being weird and picking sides, i basically became an honorary part of his pack, even though i’m not a werewolf. scott was pissing me off at the time (mostly allison’s fault 😄) and i just clicked more with isaac, erica, boyd, and cora anyway, so it worked. he was the one who taught me how to fight and helped me learn to control my abilities as much as he could.

he’s still an alpha in my dr, but the dynamics have shifted. it’s not like it was back then, no one really thinks of us as two separate groups/packs anymore. we’ve got bigger fish to fry atp i fear than who might’ve said what to who or did what in the past.

he doesn’t live in beacon hills anymore. he moved to north carolina with braeden (i’m sorry oomf). however last i heard they’re planning to move to new york. he works in the same… field… 💀 as her, so they travel a lot. they both mostly go after hunters.

he essentially gave us his building where the loft is. i think it’s very sweet of him. fake idgafer. we pay him rent and utilities but he only asked for like the BARE minimum amount so i cannot complain (he’s rich as hell i would not be paying him anymore even if he asked pls LMAO). the building isn’t as apocalyptic-looking as it was in the show 😭, but it was kind of run down just because of how old it is. so those of us that moved into apartments there had to fix it up a little, but overall it’s actually really nice. when he moved out years ago, me and isaac decided to use his loft as a “studio” for our podcast. we thought he was gonna be more angry at this but his reaction was kinda just like “really??” and he’s over it LOL.

i think i’ve said this before on here but it really is me, erica, and isaac’s shared life goal to make him laugh. and more than a chuckle, we mean like rolling onto the floor laugh. he’s so annoying. WHO ARE YOU TRYING TO BE MYSTERIOUS FOR. when he still lived in the loft, we’d hang out there and irritate him 🩷. secretly just to keep him company and make sure he was actually taking care of himself. maybe we’re also the fake idgafers.

we don’t talk super often now, but every once in a blue moon he’ll call to check in or vice versa. and every time he calls me i still pick up the phone like, “…are you dying rn?”

to be fair, george does a healthy combination of all of them. i'd say the most frequent is acts of service. he's genuinely the most thoughtful person i've ever met. when he smokes near me (which he tries not to do often, because he knows i hate the smell) he always blows the smoke in the opposite direction and if he notices it coming towards me, he'll fan it away. all without me even saying a single thing. when we get stuck in the rain, he takes his jacket off and holds it over my head like an umbrella, letting himself get soaked. if i slip and twist my ankle, he carries me on his back wherever i need to go. he always holds the door open for me. he gets his mom to make her soup for me when i'm sick, even though i tell him to stay away because i'm contagious. he throws a blanket over me anytime i fall asleep somewhere that isn't my bed, so that i don't get cold. i could go on forever, but... yeah. what a guy, my george.

so, right now... we're not officially together at all. it's... a weird situation. it's kind of common knowledge that we belong to each other, we even turn down interested folks because we're... waiting for one of us to actually make a move. one time i asked george why he turned down a pretty girl that asked him out and he just gave me a meaningful look and said, "i'm just waiting for you." and i was like... was that a joke? is he being serious? what does that mean, hello????? i was too afraid to ask him that, so i just sort of nodded. now, whenever one of us finally decides to be brave and do something, i imagine we'll probably keep it a secret for a few months at least. we've always gotten a kick out of sneaking around together, it's kind of our thing. we may even keep it from the boys for a little while, though i imagine they'll catch on pretty quickly. i think our fanbase will have mostly positive reactions, there have been rumours about us for years and we even have a certain set of fans that already theorize that we've been dating since before we became famous. now, some fans may also be quite cynical about it, thinking that it's gonna spell the end of the band. either because we break up or because we form a united front against the others and become tyrants or something. little do they know that we've always been a team, so really very little will actually change.

🍊 : what kind of date would your s/o organize for you. Are they more of a restaurant date lover or just the kind to cook you your fav dish?

both george and i prefer a more intimate setting for a date, especially nowadays where there are so many eyes on us. we've been on fancy dinner dates before (yes, actual dates, that's what we called them, even though neither of us has been willing to make an actual move) and we always end up running into fans outside. there was this huge scandal over it once. george playfully proposed to me with a rubber band (that he'd removed from the bouquet he bought me) over dinner and he slid it onto my ring finger. when the fans stopped us outside to sign some things and take some pictures, a young girl told me i was her favorite lennon. bless her. you know what my stupid drunk response was? i flaunted the band on my finger and said, "ah, but i'm ivy harrison now, haven't you heard?" no, ivy, but now they will. everyone was convinced we were engaged for months, i couldn't go anywhere without being asked about it. so, all that to say, we usually have our dates in secluded areas, if not just indoors. he likes to cook for me, because uh... i'm not very talented in that area. in fact, sometimes he cooks just for us two on a daily basis and the others will get jokingly outraged about it.

he's 50/50, i'd say. the thing about george is that he has no trouble saying very bold things, but the moment it comes down to actual action, he freezes. he'll just sort of say something flirty and then stare at me expectantly as if he's willing me to kiss him. he's told me before that i make him nervous. sometimes i can see it. the way he can't seem to hold my eye when i'm the one flirting with him. the way he gulps when my fingers brush against his neck as i tie his tie for him, even though he's the one who asked me to. he likes to test me, like he's seeing what he can get away with before i finally make the move that he's too afraid to make. i always second guess myself, though, like maybe we're just having fun and he doesn't really mean what he says. so, maybe he's just gonna have to push through the nerves. or maybe he's gonna push me so far that i stop overthinking and make a really impulsive decision. place your bets, ladies and gentlemen!
