Dens and Habitations
-Den/Cave Dwellers: It is suggested that you build your den in a dark room in the first place, unless you’re outside. Setup sheets, cardboard, conveniently placed furniture etc. in such a way that there is only one way in and out. Having a dark, cool material, time of day etc. really helps add to the effect. I personally find that denning in places that just barely fit me comfortably is calming. Not advised for our claustrophobic friends. Bonus: Spritz some cold water from a spray bottle to lightly dampen the air, walls, ground etc -Burrow Dwellers: It’s nice to keep warm and soft to properly mimic a burrow. Build up several layers of blankets and wrap them around yourself and themselves to create a more sturdy structure that can be used multiple times. It is advised that you use the rougher, stiffer blankets/towels to build the walls and shape of your burrow and softer, more malleable things to line the inside and make it cozy ^.^ -Water Dwellers: For our aquatic kin that remain underwater constantly, unless you have a pool, this habitat can be difficult to mimic. Baths are Nice for stints of meditation and studying and just hanging out. You can grow small plants that remind you of home (like algae and aquatic ferns in a little fish tank if you have the materials and know how to properly look after these :3) -Water and Land Dwellers: Again water is hard to come by in terms of habitats but along with a bath, our amphibious and reptilian friends might enjoy having a place to rest under the sun or a nice lamp. Make a special place just for yourself to sit or lie down near a window that doesn’t look towards a main road so you don’t need to worry about other people. If you feel so inclined you might even enjoy incorporation some kind of masonry in your space to make it more homey. -Tree Dwellers: If you have the luxury to have a place amongst the trees, set up a hammock or a cushion (waterproof!) in a tree or at the base of one. (Please please please don’t climb trees that you aren’t 100% sure can support you. Falling from trees is not fun!) For those that perhaps don’t have trees around, or want a more spacious area to linger, a nest might be comforting. Like burrow dwellers, build up the outer walls with several blankets and weave them together to the best of your abilities but make sure it’s a little more spacious. -Double Bonus! I find that aromatics, temperature and ambience really helps make the space. As a den dweller I play generic nature sounds, like birds and rain and wind through trees. Smell is a little tricky but you can burn candles, use an essential oil diffuser, or burn incense (BE CAREFUL BURNING DOWN YOUR DEN/NEST/BURROW, IS NOT FUN) Temperature is somewhat difficult to control based on location and climate but if you’re inside and you have access, adjust the thermostat or less conspicuously kick on the fan or a small space heater depending on the Goal Temp.

Here’s an idea for any avians out there!! Part of the shifting method of this blog is attunement and connection to your type outside of the shift, so this could be helpful.
Is your bed just too flat? Would you like to sleep on a fluffy cloud instead? Here’s a simple diy to fix that:
What you’ll need: - a bed - a white bedsheet (big enough that it can fit around what you add) - a white comforter and white sheet - white pillowcases - pillows - more pillows (optional: substitute a block of memory foam!!)
To start, take everything off your bed, including your fitted sheet. If you’re using memory foam, take it and cut it up into a billowy, cloudlike shape. If not, get some soft, squishy pillows and start packing them around the sides, in the middle, everywhere! Consider even laying a duvet without cover underneath the pillows and sheet, tucked in on all sides. Try to get a cloud shape, while also making it like a cozy nest to curl up in, but not so nestlike that you can’t stretch or that it feels too lumpy or hard. Now, when the cloud shapes are done, put the white sheet around it so it fits all around. Make sure to get it deep in there, and that it’s loose enough to wrinkle a bit and not pull up when you sleep on it, but not too wrinkly. Finally, take some pillows and prop them up around the sides, grab any stuffed animals you might want there, and put a pillow or two against the headboard. Put your comforter across it and you’re done!! Remember to rearrange and fluff the pillows every so often to maintain that soft cloud feeling.

Welcome to the Shifting Guide
This is a guide for all physical shifters to-be, from werewolves to avians to everything in between. Its focus is on those who wish to become shifters, however I will include some information for people who are further in. Please read this with an open mind and a mature view, as physical shifting is not for everyone. If you want to turn into a dragon to fight a bully, or grow wings to fly to school, you’re not ready. Please approach this with a sober mind, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
I will be making a sort of compendium post very soon. I am mod Ren, short for Larentia, so you can find me most places under the name Larentia Mistmoon. If you are interested, please follow this blog. I have done my research and consider myself knowledgeable, enough so that I can make this guide. Anyway, I hope you are all aided by this guide.
